catlover
A couple of questions about creating vector/image brushes. See example : 1)This vector brush seems to "cut through" the earlier stroke when swooping back on itself. Stabilizer function is activated, tried also in combination with rope at 35 and lower. How come ? I've seen examples where the stroke crosses over the earlier stroke, how do I get that effect ? The example was made with an existing brush. 2) How exactly (step by step, sorry...) do I create 1)A new vector brush 2)How do I create a new image brush ? Haven't been able to find any step by step instructions. Many thanks in advance as always, C.L. firstdefence
Affinity designer doesn't have true/pure vector brushes, they are raster textures on a vector path, basically the textured image brush is the vector brush there is no discernible difference, so the answer to 1 and 2 is make a textured image brush. If you want transparency, make sure the is set in document setup on the colour tab. Create the pattern, shape or texture regardless of whether it's created as a vector or a raster it will end up raster because you have to export as PNG Size, remember a large brush can grind affinity to a stop on certain systems so don't go too big. Try about 500px if you need bigger, resize and export the texture again. Select the pattern shape, texture and export as a PNG, selection with or without background depending on what you want to create. Then it's just a matter of creating the brush you want, intensity or image brush.
