Mac Photo Context Toolbar missing?

Recommended Posts

I recently updated to 1.7.3 and macOS Catalina. Since then have been having a issues: the Context toolbar has disappeared and will not reappear no matter what I do. View Menu > Show Context Toolbar doesn't work, nor do the individual Persona commands from the Affinity Photo Menu. Another issue: dialog boxes, and studio windows often appearing mostly off-screen, sometimes with no way to drag them back on. This has rendered Photo pretty much unusable. (This last issue with windows appearing off-screen is something I've been noticing since the very beginning (2016) but attributed to small screen size (13 in.) but have since incorporated an external monitor (LG Ultrafine for Mac) and still having the same problem.

Any thoughts? Should I reinstall the app?

Thanks

Hi Nicholas Woods,

Welcome to the forums :)

I'm very sorry to hear this! Resetting your app back to it's default settings should return this for you.

You can reset your app back to its default settings by holding down the CTRL key while launching the app. When the Clear User Data window appears, click Select All and then Clear. The app will now open.
Be aware that resetting your app back to its default settings will lose any custom settings such as keyboard shortcuts and brushes etc. To backup such settings before resetting the app, please watch our Affinity - Exporting User Settings and Keyboard Shortcuts video. https://player.vimeo.com/video/189596577/

Please do let me know if this helps!

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

Goodday Dan,

I had the same problem, and for me it helped to clear all up.
Merci
