tried going to the tutorials, and this is the closest: "If you want to use a specific ratio, set the Mode to Custom Ratio, enter the ratio you want in the input fields and drag the grid corner handle on canvas to set the crop area you want"

But I do not see where I can insert 8 high and 12 wide. Any help appreciated, thanks!

Ahh, the lines extending beyond the photo had to be pulled in by the corners! Thank you, at least I have figured out one thing today! One a day, with the help of all of you, and I might get my first photo finished...lots of thanks

They're working on that. The lines really shouldn't extend off the photo that way. In the meantime, pulling in from the center  node of a side may be easier than pulling in from a corner.

no complaints, was just trying to figure out some of the basics, cropping, color, burn and dodge, sharpening. Thanks for helping me learn some of the things to get started!
