lettergothic
In the "help" file, keyboard commands are given as: To loosen spacing, press . option - right arrow To tighten spacing, press . option - left arrow For even looser spacing, press . option - command - right arrow For even tighter spacing, press . option - command - left arrow Nowhere, that I can see, is a description of how many 1/000ths of an EM is "looser/tighter spacing" and "even looser/tighter spacing" • What are the numerical increments of these vague semantic descriptions? • Are the basic increment units and the multiplier/divider modifier (command) user customizable in a measurements preference? • Do the kerning key commands produce the same increments when one selects a line, paragraph, column or story to track for fit? thanks, lettergothic
CPC
lettergothic, The values you seek are displayed in the 'Character Studio' panel. Place the text cursor between two characters for 'Kerning'. If a group of character are highlighted you get 'Tracking' value in the next window down -- all the spaces are adjusted. firstdefence
In Adobe Illustrator kerning using option - command - right arrow loosens the kerning by 100‰ Per mille (1/1000), the same command in Affinity does this in 50‰ Per mille increments so to get the same kerning distance you have to press option - command - right arrow twice, this matches Adobe Illustrators kerning perfectly. The option - right arrow moves the kerning in increments of 20‰ per mille in Adobe Illustrator in Affinity it does it by 10‰ per mille Alfred 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.3.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... The D.o.F.D has released a statement to the effect of... Quote The excessive use of both the symbol and descriptive text together was to sear into memory the symbol’s meaning, we believe, from early reports coming in from our American Dept (D.o.F.D -Am) that this has worked and a high percentage of Affinity users now know what the symbol means and will never forget it . As Top Guy, Da Boss, CEO, Da Don, Head Honcho I'm calling this a success, well done staff. A special thanks goes out to Character viewer, we couldn't have done it without you.
