Black Friday 2019

Recommended Posts

Hi, will be any discount on Black Friday this year? Hope so, because I would like to buy Affinity Photo & Affinity Designer because of OS X update to Catalina and some Adobe products (CS6 with timeless license)  don’t work on my Mac. I like your apps so hope, you will participate in Black Friday this year :)

that's not ours.

Here it is on the marketing website and here it is on the Affinity store. The Mac App Store, Microsoft Store and Apple iPad store also have this offer

@ACE-Alex

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums :)

That's a lot of bottom lips you have there. How many other companies have announced their Black Friday events already? I think it's too early to make any such suggestion, though you may turn out to be prophetic.

what is a purpose of your message?

I'm trying to figure out the meaning of your previous post.

You write "Can u pls share what did you mean "user friendly "?" and "I would love to see "user friendly" behaviour and share my experience".

As is well known, "User Friendly" refers to the interface between the application and the user.

"Customer Friendly", which Solly talks about in his contribution, refers to the interface between the manufacturer and the user/customer.

Sorry, but I don't see any context between your question and the response to Solly's post.

To help explain my earlier comment, a bit of my experience. I first started working with computers and software while in high school in the mid 1960's. I first learned programming in FORTRAN IV in a summer class in Altoona, PA using the McCracken text. We worked at teletype units connected by phone lines to the GE-215 computer in another part of the building. I have been around this stuff for a bit now. The most impressive aspect of the Affinity software line is the performance to price ratio at their regular price, and this low price gets significant discounts several times a year. I will purchase one of their tools that may not be fully useful to me yet (I really, really need footnotes to work nicely in Publisher) just to support the company. I was there at the start of the home computer era when folk paid high prices for little performance just because it was new and available. I worked with Solaris on Sun work stations with wonderful software on really nice equipment, but the software was rented at very high price, and if the rent was not paid, the licensing software locked out your data. See where Adobe learned its current strategy. Same experience with IBM in another venue. This does not happen with Affinity products!

If finances are a real issue, there are plenty of open source choices one may work with—I have spent time with these and have learned much. While learning general concepts and strategies with open source software, choose how you spend discretionary funds. Instead of those little extra things we just enjoy because…, save the money instead until you have the funds needed to purchase Affinity products—when they have a reduced price. I often told my students that the three most critical qualities for success are attitude, attitude, and attitude. Be positive, be wise, and be patient.

Best wishes to all adventurers in this fascinating domain,

—Joseph

Look, guys, I appreciate all comments - just don't understand kind of hidden aggression )) Chill

1) About Customer und User - because computer industry more young compare to other businesses like car manufacturing - a lot of terms have been borrowed from existing business relationship
Like : End User Price - means Customer Price. So, User & Customer almost the same if we r not talking about B2B & B2C concepts

2) About Joseph's beautiful essay - you seems much older than me - I have started my PC experience in 1996 & my Photoshop experience in 1998. All those ridiculous prices for software I remember.
And it was pure greed. And it generated The Pirate bay fenómeno as a result ))
It's not helping to progress - keep high price and limited offer - we all see dramatic changes now & more on the way.

3) The purpose of my post was to see how fair Affinity marketing strategy from real users needs - Black Friday - just the way to care about your customers - you care about your customers - they care about supplier
If you don't see the picture - fill sorry

And some customers can help with improvement of the product as well.
Check the history of BigMac - it was not a concept that has been invented by McDonalds headquarter ...
And a lot of ideas in Adobe - are not only from Macromedia and Aldus....
