Affinity Photo OS Transfer

Recommended Posts

Hello all! So, I bought Affinity Photo a while ago, and have switched from mac to windows. I was very sad to see that I have to buy Affinity Photo for windows again. Please, can you add something on your website that allows you to switch your product from mac to windows, or vice versa? It can be free or cost a small fee (like $5). With this, introduce a patch that detects which OS people are using AP on. If they switched and they are still using their old OS (to have AP on both devices), kick them out with a message.

Sorry if this is asking too much, I just want to see this implemented.

I bought a gasoline car, and now I'd like to run on diesel. Please replace my engine for free or $5 :-)

Almost every software company out there has the same licence rules...

Not true; there are many software licenses which are purchased as cross-platform.

This does vary quite a bit however, and is not the case with the Affinity programs.  For various reasons I rather doubt this will change anytime soon.

I have one bit of software which will travel with me should I choose to change platforms but it cost much much more than all three Affinity applications in toto. Plus the change from one Mac to another Mac requires some back and forth with the software firm to get the new machine registered and the old one delisted.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I have quite a few more than that, but granted that most of those did indeed have higher price tags than the Affinity apps.

Examples:

  • DxO PhotoLab
  • On1 Photo RAW
  • DaVinci Resolve, Fusion Studio
  • Ableton Live
  • Cubase

So that's really a big plus for cross-platform applications. Especially for users, who don't use it at all ;)
