The macOS version from the Affinity Store can be updated going to menu Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher> Check for Updates and also notifies you when there's a new version available. The Mac App Store version can be updated throughout the Mac App Store itself which can also be set to update the apps automatically if you wish. On Windows, if bought from the Microsoft Store it updates the app automatically for you. If bought from us (Affinity Store) you will have to update it manually for now (not sure if notifies you when there's a new version available - checking this now).
