Saving on top of original

Recommended Posts

Really need some kind of simple way to do this. I'm working on a video game and do lot of small edits on stuff. Total deal breaker to use the export window that has now clue where the file was originally located.

Maybe just make a button in the export dialog that opens the folder where the original is and prefills the file name as the same?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @just_teemu.

Having better control over the directory when Exporting or saving has been requested often, I think. And I agree it's a good idea.

You didn't say what kind of files you're working on, but since you're talking about Photo there may be a solution you dn't know of.

If you're working on an image file (PNG, TIFF, JPG) you can actually use File > Save and it will allow you to overwrite the original file. This is a destructive action, of course, so may not be what you want. But as you said "on top of original" perhaps that is what you want.
