Staff MEB Posted November 14, 2019 Staff Share Posted November 14, 2019 Hi PippiL, Welcome to Affinity Forums Can you confirm you are have bought Affinity Photo from the Affinity Store (and not from the Mac App Store) please? PippiL
Thank you. I'm sorry for the confusion. I have purchased the AD not the photo. I make mockups and need to import my photos to edit in AD. Unless it is only available if you purchase Photo? I'm not too familiar yet. Staff MEB Posted November 15, 2019 Staff Share Posted November 15, 2019 Hi PippiL, Sorry for the confusion. I didn't know you were using Affinity Designer and didn't notice the DMG still opened on the sidebar. I'm assuming you have Affinity Designer (or Photo installed) bought from the Affinity Store and are going to File -> Open there to open a file. Anyway it doesn't matter what app you are using as this works the same way for both apps. Usually what you are experiencing (no access to photos from the Media section in Finder) happens when the current Photos's library is not set as the System Photo Library. If you go to Apple Photos, Preferences, General tab you should see a button labelled Use as System Library (in the Library Locations area on top). It's quite possible it's disabled/greyed out for you - if so, it means the current Apple Photo's library is already set as System Photo Library (as it should if you use it to manage your photos). There's however a bug that prevents it working if you are using the version bought through our store (Affinity Store). That's why i wanted to double-check if you are using in fact that version which seems the case since you have a DMG opened in the sidebar. PippiL
Yes, I purchased the Affinity store version. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue? I was not aware I could have purchased AD in the Apple store. Thank you
Staff MEB Posted November 16, 2019 Staff Share Posted November 16, 2019 Hi PippiL, Thanks for confirming it. This is a bug that seems to affect all apps sold from our store. It's working fine with the Mac App Store version(s). I've logged this to be looked at. Hopefully we will have a fix for this in an upcoming version. If you need to work with the files stored in Apple Photos library, export the images (originals) using the command File > Export > Export Unmodified Original for X Photos... (in Apple Photos) to a folder and open them in Affinity Designer using File > Open as usual until this issue is fixed.
