balqan
Hi, I'm really stuck with something that I'm not sure how to describe in technical terms. I have three layers: the image of the grey boxes semi-transparent blue bg the whit text I would like the white text to be like a mask, so that instead of white text to make the blue transparent. How could I achieve this with the Affinity Suite? Thanks a lot for any help!
A_B_C
Simply make the text and the blue rectangle a Subtract Compound. Compound.afdesign balqan
AlanPickup
If below is what you are trying to achieve select the text layer and the box layer and use the subtract option balqan 1 Quote Alan Pickup Windows 11 Home all Affinity suite of Apps PC and Gigabyte Laptop 16gb Ram and Nvidia GTX1660 Super on each. A_B_C
That is to say: Put the text on top of the blue rectangle in the Layers List Select both and use Layer > Create Compound Go to the Layers List, and change the compound type to Subtract Done. balqan and Move Along People
A_B_C
Yes, @AlanPickup, that’s also possible. Though I would suggest holding down the Option key before clicking the Subtract Button, if you want to keep the text editable. That will create a Subtract Compound as well. A_B_C
… but be aware that Erase Blends will be rasterised in PDF export. Doesn’t matter if you are exporting to a raster format, of course.

A_B_C
Good to know this. 23 hours ago, haakoo said: Besides, the erase version will work in all three apps ,compound only in designer. That’s not true. Remember you can always click the Geometry buttons on the main toolbar with the Option key held down. This will create a compound in any of the three apps. A_B_C
Yes, that shortcut is easily missed, and not at all obvious. I wonder how it could be made more obvious in the UI … hmm …
