Affinity Photo 1.7.3 crash when opening a file

When I open this specific file (attached), the application crashes immediately. Tried opening it via Open dialog and via dragging on the Affinity Photo icon in dock. I'm on macOS 10.14.6.

Btw this file also causes problem when I attached it with ".jpg" extension here so I removed the extension. It opens in Preview.app normally though.

@m4v3r

The JPG file crashes (closes) both the released and 1.8 beta version of APhoto here on Windows 8.1 (no crash reports)

Also, Photoshop cant open it (reports an error but does not crash) so the file is definitely corrupt.

Can repair the file with other utilities but since there are hundreds of copies of it available via Google - best just to download another copy if you need it.

Either way, corrupt files should not cause APhoto to crash so well done for reporting it

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Strangely, when I try to download that file Windows wants to download it as a .afdesign file.

Exiftool identifies it as a JP2 file, and when I give it a .jp2 extention and open it in Photo 1.8 beta the application crashes. I do get a crash report, and I can upload the report if it would be useful, @MEB. (Or, perhaps it uploaded automatically since the beta is set to auto-upload crash reports. In that case, it's associated with the email address I use for these forums.)
