markabur
The tooltip for panel titles (tabs) unnecessarily shows the same text as the title. E.g. hovering over the Pages tab shows a "Pages" tooltip, etc.. Similarly, hovering over a text button such as "Document Setup…" shows a tooltip that says "Document Setup…". It's non-helpful and kind of annoying! Edited November 6, 2019 by markabur
Staff MEB Posted November 6, 2019 Staff Share Posted November 6, 2019 Hi markabur, Welcome to Affinity Forums Thanks for your feedback. The tooltips are useful for when there's not enough space to display the full label on a tab (although in the case of some buttons they are a little redundant and really not helpful). See the screenshot below for reference - the tooltip refers to the fourth tab Text Styles. If they annoy you, you can increase the Tooltip Delay slider in Affinity Preferences, User Interface section. markabur
I can see how it could be helpful if the tab you're looking for is buried in a big pile of other tabs (I'm not sure why one would arrange their workspace like that, but whatever), but the tooltip also shows when hovering over the frontmost tab, which is 100% useless as it's always spelled out, at least in my experience. I dislike tooltips in general so I will eventually increase the delay to the maximum, but while I'm learning the program I do find them helpful (sometimes). Actually it would be nice if there was a keyboard shortcut to immediately show the tooltip and bypass the delay -- then I could increase the delay but still benefit from the tooltips without having to wait around for it to pop up.
