molmagman
I'm not sure that this is even possible, but I'd like to be able to use affinity designer to draw a human brain, pipework or spaghetti - anything really with that kind of structure. I've tried using the pen tool and applying a 3D effect but the whole shape just flattens. I'm after being about to reproduce the red stringy bit in this image ... Sara72
Hi, You can just create your own textured image brush in a pipe style, with a gradient look for the 3D: molmagman and jer 1
molmagman
That's cool - managed to do that which is great and thank you. However, is there any way of forcing the shadow underneath so it looks more realistic?
Sara72
You could create the brush with a drop shadow, not sure it’s too accurate, as it’s moving with the flow of the brush instead of how the shadow would fall: jer and molmagman
firstdefence
Add an outer shadow fx afterwards because it will be applied to the curves and should shade it as you would expect. but nice squiggly brain brush lol!
