When cropping and straightening a photo, sometimes transparent space is left and cropping to eliminate is not desirable option. There are workarounds to fill the transparent pixels.  I would like to suggest adding a Content Aware Fill Layer to the Context Tool Bar.  This, if enabled, would fill in the transparent pixels from averaging nearby pixels or any method development team decides, to fill transparent pixels.  My concern is for the tool, not the method.  Those that don’t need it, don’t tick box to fill.

Also when doing perspective correction in develop persona empty corners result (and of course if you rotate). Filling these is probably not good idea in develop mode but it could be a tick to select beside develop button, filling blanks when entering normal mode.

Have you tried using Select>Alpha Range>Select Fully Transparent. That selects all the fully transparent areas around the cropped image. Then Select>Grow Shrink set the value to about 2 pixels. Now go to Edit>Inpaint or shortcut ALT+BACKSPACE.

Yes, as stated there are workarounds, but why not have the simplicity of Content Aware fill.  I dislike comparing products; however, Lightroom has added this simple one button click.

Transparent pixels after a crop is something I have never really understood why happens. (Photoshop CS6 has the same problem. I have not yet noticed it in Affinity Photo.) It really should not happen in the first place, and should have an auto fill of closest pixels to fill in the gap that can happen.

Anytime you straighten your image it’s possible to move image outside the frame.  There are workarounds and Macro posted in forum; however, why not just automate Content Aware?  I guess this is not something many find needed.  I receive a lot of photos that need straighten, so it’s a nuisance, not a problem.

It would be a great timesaver. It would be even more helpful in perspective correction where there routinely appear transparent strips in lower corners.

Agree 100%
