Forum text editor moves text cursor by itself

Recommended Posts

I’ve just tried to edit some text pasted in from LibreOffice Writer (paste as plain text), and when I type, the editor moves the text cursor to the end of the line.
See my attached GIF where I try a few times in different ways and it seems to move the cursor when I press SPACE.
Not a massive problem but unexpected.

Hi GarryP :)

I've been testing this here this morning and I believe it's due to your pasted text containing a hyperlink.
When pasted as plain text, the hyperlink is understandably not carried - meaning the next time you press space the forums instinct is to read and interpret the link, converting it from text to a hyperlink. This jumps your cursor to the end of the hyperlink, which is certainly a little disorienting - but I don't believe this is an option we can change here, apologies!

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

Thanks for having a look Dan.
I had a feeling it might be something to do with the hyperlink as I’ve had other unexpected issues with them (text going missing after some links being converted to embedded content without warning).
However, since there’s nothing you or I can do about it, it’s just something I’ll have to watch out for in the future.
Cheers.
