Crash when trying to edit a TOC-related text style

Recommended Posts

Recipe:

  1. Create a new file.
  2. Create a text frame on a document page.
  3. Use Text > Table of Contents > Insert Table of Contents
  4. Go to the Text Styles studio panel
  5. Double-click on TOC 1: Entry or TOC 1: Number to edit that style.

Result: Publisher crashes. This is repeatable.

Note: It does not matter if you actually have any entries in the TOC or not. If you do have entries, then double-clicking on, e.g. TOC 1: Heading 1 will also cause the crash.

This does not happen in 1.7.3.481.

I think that at least one crash report was submitted automatically (email address same as for this forum account) as I had to allow crashpadhandler.exe to get through my firewall. But if not, I can upload one.

I think I came across the same bug when testing a fellow forumster's example file (before I read your post):

So basically this is just a confirmation of your finding.

so the error is experienced with a document that was initially created with the release version

Thanks, Lagarto.

My initial issue was also with a file created in the retail version, but my recreations were with files created in 1.8.0.499.

We have made improvements/fixes to this area of the program in the latest Affinity Publisher beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below. Once Affinity Publisher has been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.0 update to all customers.

The 1.8.0 builds are in links at the top of these forum posts

I tried again with the sample file from this post (just a short test, though)

In the last beta APub crashed immediately when double clicking on TOC1 text style. In this latest beta this works as expected. Thanks.
