Grid and Axis Manager - what is the point?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering what is the point of the 'View > Grid and Axis Manager'?

I can change the grid to dimetric, isometric, etc, which is GREAT! But when I'm drawing out a shape (e.g. a rectangle, oval, etc), it does not conform to the transformed grid system. It's not drawing the rectangle neither dimetric or trimetric, etc mode, but the same horizontal/vertical mode as usual. This way I don't see much point to the whole feature.

What does the 'Create Plane Set' checkbox do? I don't experience any feedback or change in the viewport, or during interaction with objects, regardless of this setting.

What is the purpose of the items in the 'Additional snapping axis setup' section? Don't really experience anything changing regardless how I set them.

I was glad to see such a tool, but it seems the whole thing is just an 'eye-candy' of some sort without any useful functionality.

Sorry, if this is not the case and I'm just aimlessly wondering why none of these features seem to work, but I didn't find anything on any of these tools/settings in the help file.
