Do Affinity Photo offer the same option as Adobe Photoshop to store composite Alpha channels that QuarkXPress can read. I use frequently the lasso tool to create alpha channels to isolate parts of an image (to isolate the background from an object). In Photoshop this is done under the Select menu. The mask is stored as a channel that you activate in QuarkXPress. I don't get it work in Affinity Photo.

Photo seems to be able to save pixel selections as "spare channels" (use Channels panel and right click pixel selection and choose "Create Spare Channel", and then click the desired "spare channels" to make them as selections, or adding, subtracting and intersecting selections). It also sees PSD alpha channel masks, but I have not managed to find any way to export them in PSD format. Alpha channel seems to be completely lost in all versions of PSD export.

Thank you Lagarto. I found one way around. Draw the mask with the Freehand Selection Tool, then Select > Save Selection > as spare channel.
Next: Document > Transparent background. Then export as: Tiff , Area: Whole document. This method works, different from Photoshop as I can't activate or deactivate the mask.

Ok, thanks. But does this actually require saving a selection as a "spare channel"? I think that just using the transparent background allows you to place tiffs without a background (as long as you have the fill color as "None" in QXP), and also using the transparency as a wrapping path (also in Publisher)?

I do not think that clipping paths are supported, either (when you export from Photo).
