Make circle 118 mm, make second circle 23 mm, menu Layer\Geometry\Subtract.

Try insert "23/(118/100)".

Or, more simply: 23/1.18 (or 2300/118, if you prefer to avoid decimal fractions).

I thought it was obvious, that I was deliberately writing it in a very basic mathematical form, that everyone can customize according to their needs and knowledge. The main point was to show that it is not necessary to enter only percentages.

at least cm entering is not supported affinity photo but these formulas gives results but shows only 19% not decimals. soon i can i try get other Affinity Tools as well.

I've been following this thread and have an additional question... How are you going to print? The concern for accurate measurements suggests printing to paper labels.

I have been printing my CD/DVD labels using a Canon PIXMA iP4850 which came with its own simple design and print program. As Affiniity doesn't seem to offer any option for printing direct to disc I'm experimenting with the following workflow -- [1] prepare my design in Publisher, [2] export as a jpg image, and [3] print this to disc with the Canon program. Using the image as a 'background' simplifies the final step as a background image is by default imported at full height. I chose a 300mm square page but could have done it 1000mm equally well as the actual dimensions don't really matter however many the decimal places! :-)

The trial design is a number thin outline transparent circles, identified by text on path dimensions, aligned horizontally and vertically on the square page. The exported jpg image was loaded into the Canon printing program as the background image for the CD. The scan of the disc shows the full page width 300mm circle just fits the disc though close examination indicates that I'll need to make a small print offset correction in the Canon program.

My next task will be to remove many of the circles and change the text to be more useful reminders eg 'outer limit' and 'inner limit' and perhaps add a few layout lines. This project will be a template for all my CD/DVD discs. The circles etc can be deleted before export or simply hidden in the layers studio. I find a print to an A4 sheet is useful as I often sketch out my initial design ideas with pencil on paper.

donut tool hole radios is always %. i tired enter 23mm but put back origial % ammount. luckily i get subtracting work. and i found way put photo in this donut. but generally it think i design donut shaped background stuff in Photo and put texts in Publisher. then i can work i think more flexible way. becouse subject is round i should do in high resolution. making this thing Publisher is hard becouse image must be correct way, i make design i must remebmer i dont but anything outside circle i mean. becouse of this i think best way do cd shaped image in photo.

Thank you Psenda,

Thanks for the response, ..but I'm still not able to achieve what I want.  My go is a blank white page with the do-nut in the middle revealing the photo below that I'm using for the disc face.   Therefore I need a transparent circle to show the background through.   Everything I'm doing in Publisher has not let me so far.    Frustrating.   I can make te measurements easy, ..it's just the basic transparent circle on a white page that I can get.

Hi Michael, is this the effect you are looking for? if it is then you need to create the donut to the correct size. You then need to drag your image layer onto the donut layer until you see the horizontal highlight line, then let go. If it all turns white then you have dragged it over the donut thumbnail, just drag it out again and aim to the right of the donut thumbnail

It might be difficult to get exactly what you want with the Donut Tool as the hole radius can only be specified as a percentage of the outside radius, rather than a precise measurement.
The arrangement in my attached image might be easier to manipulate, note the use of the Erase Blend Mode on the centre circle which is a child layer of the outside circle (along with the image layer).

In the case of Erase, the problem may be that it is a non-standard function, so it cannot be exported in vector (SVG).

Pšenda, that’s a good point about the Erase Blend Mode. I don’t know how they want to export, but it’s a point worth noting all the same. (I've been seeing some results exporting to SVG that I didn't expect, but I need to do more testing before I report them as potential problems as they could just be me not getting it right.)

I going use cd/dvd  duplication company if i do such design.

cd/dvd duplication companies are really picky about formats and standards and should provide a template (usually PDF) to the exact size and standards the use in their workflow, most companies will reject work supplied that isn't set up using their template - there's usually a slight difference in size and some require you to include a white base in the supplied PDF. Its best to check your chosen service providers website and download the template you require or tel/email your contact who should send you the templates you require - see attached examples

The right tool for the job is Surething disc labeller. About $30. Import images and designs from whatever package you want but the overall layout centre hole and disc diameter is just mouse clicks. BTW I speak as someone who has printed over 50,000 discs using Primera robotic printers having mutated from one at a time Epsons back in 2003.

I can remember the Epson R300 that was a neat little printer for printing CDs, then it was the gimmicky Lightscribe, that probably got used 2 or 3 times at most.
