I been using AP since it was released (and also in beta) and I am very impressed. It will replace Photoshop for me but I still get stuck sometimes so more learing is needed (the tutorials have been a life savior please keep them coming).

I would like to request one feature that is found in Capture One and that is focus masks. This would be great value to me to easily visualize where the image is sharp (or not...).

Thanks for a great peace of software!

:) batch processing is a killer feature. Thanks for this !

Could you please add "apply image" Please ? I really try to change my whole workflow to use 100% AF. But I cannot without that.

There is few requests here : https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10847-photoshop-apply-image-functionality-needed/

I did this with affinity photo, but I could not mimic apply image :( so it wasn't done 100% into affinity photo : https://twitter.com/Anstellos/status/625770183450345472

thx for the feature roadmap, but what i need the most for the moment are the camera profiles if possible to work with at least the X-rite dng profile manager. Keep on the good work .

I think you can match Apply Image without using that dialog using the various channels and layer tools already available, which settings seem missing?

Or is it the steps involved, the workflow, that you would like to see improved? Thx, Dale.

@Dale,

We tried various workaround (there is a long topic about it already on the tutorial part of the forum and the feature request) there is no substitute for apply image now. There is no way yet to copy the channel color informations in order to manually do an apply image... without saying it's much slower that way (several steps), apply image is just one click away.

The setting missing is to take a channel color information (this is crucial) let say A channel in LAB color mode and blend it on a layer or a merged version of the picture.

When trying to copy manually the channel info it creates a greyscaled version, so it doesnt work (because you blend a geyscale with a colored picture, it should be blending color and color). Apply image is fast and efficient.
If there is a better way to do it in AF I will take it. It's always good to have a better workflow. :)
I'm into a photoshop club with color specialists, I asked them to figured that out. They could not either. But maybe we do not understand the Affinity workflow. Any idea ?

I don't believe the problem is that the channel information is grey scale, that's how Apply Image works in PS.  The difference is because PS is adjusting that grey scale image before blending it.  When you choose a single channel from the applied image, PS takes the values of that channel and copies them into the other two channels so, in RGB, this produces a grey scale image.  In LAB, PS represents this equal channel image with colour and AP represents it as grey but this representation is irrelevant to the mathematics behind the apply image process.

The difference in PS is that it is preprocessing that grey scale image before applying it.  This is easy to see.  In PS, use Apply image on a single RGB channel in Normal mode.  Normal mode means the result will be the image that was applied.  It will be a grey scale image but will not be the same as the single channel grey scale image of the channel chosen.  In other words, PS is not actually doing what it claims.  It is not applying the chosen channel but applying a modified version of the chosen channel.

The same thing happens in LAB but it's harder to see because PS is inconsistent in the way it represents LAB channels.  When you apply a LAB channel using Apply Image it shows the result in colour but, in the channels panel it represents each LAB channel as a grey scale.

The point I'm trying to make to those who want AP to incorporate Apply Image is that, PS is not simply applying the image when a single channel is chosen but is somehow preprocessing that single channel.  So, unless Serif can work out what that preprocessing is (and replicate it) AP is not going to produce the same results as PS on any given image/channel even if they do add channel based Apply Image.

First of all, well done! That is a great tool. I love it so far but reading the feature list it will get even better.

Here are my 2ct's about my wishes for a new program which may be named Affinity Catalouge

All of us do have a large collection of cool pictures. Mostly stored in Adobe Lightroom. I did not understand why neither Adobe nor Affinity is targeting the combination of lightroom like catalouge with the power of picture processing like you are offering with Affinity Photo in ONE application.

I would like to see a Lightroom, iPhoto, Photo, etc. replacement. This is not a free of charge upgrade request but a request for a new programm where Affinity Photo can be plugged-in.

It needs to have an import function at least one time to get all the information stored in the former catalouge.

I agree an image management tool is badly needed. But rather than creating new database I would prefer an Affinity interface to existing Lightroom, Organizer, or Apple Photos databases, including the ability to access the meta-data such as location and faces information.

I can't see that happening, Carl.  It's one of the hazards of software development that if you put a date on something then miss that date the complaints come thick and fast.  It's best not to commit.

Hi,

This request is about Affinity Photo & Designer.

When creating new documents in devices, it is possible to select iPhone or iPad and so on.

What would be so cool is to be able to select iPhone or iPad wallpaper sizes including parallaxe extra dimensions.

I can't wait such a feature...

Thnak you.

It would be nice to have the option to skip the adjustment layer panel on the side and just do plain old destructive edits. I prefer to work this way and never use layers, as I find it cumbersome. Also, the History feels a little weird. It would be great to have a context menu on the history states to allow deleting, as well as an "original" initial state.

Just hit the Merge button in any Adjustment Layer's palette, and it will be applied destructively to the layer beneath or selected...

Until Affinity Photo adds a better image browser (replacing Lightroom, for example) - I've found a speedy really good browser: Lyn.

I'm happy to have paid $20 for it.  It is very robust and one of the unexpected great features is 'open with' -- there's a default 'Open in Affinity Photo' listed as the main choice.

perfect for me.

I had been trying to use OnOne Perfect Photo's browser but don't like it.

Lyn - now that's an app I really have grown to like lots in just 24 hours of constant use.

Thank you!

But really, can´t affinity produce an equal product for 20 bugs when a whole more complex thing like Photo does only cost 40 or 50? I don´t wanna buy into other companies ....Affinity works great and I want to stay with them during the whole Photo/ Design/ Organisation process :/

Once MEB told me there might be a "giraffe team" witch would maybe reach this low hanging fruit.... Please raise your necks you dedicated ones....

I really wound´t request any fancy features in the beginning..

I would be really happy with a "stretch function". In PS they call it "content aware tool".

It would help me with enlarging the sky, water on images of stretch out my background on portraits. Now I've to clone it, but that can be al lot of work and not always that precise.

I'm very happy with AP. There are tons of possibilities for me and its helping me really by improving my images.

Thanks.

Hey guys!

I would like to know what is meant by »Levels improvements«. Will we get something like a »picker-option«,

like in … you know … Photoshop?

I'd really like to see that, always came in handy with quickly cleaning up scans of ink- and line-drawings,

simply clicking on which parts resemble black and white parts.   :)

Cheers

Dennis

Big improvements in the print UI thanks, the original one left much to be desired!

I requested this some time back, but can you please add the option to print several smaller images on a sheet of A4 (or even A5) paper?  In fact, could you perhaps just do something along the lines of the whole Aperture Printing UI?

Thanks.

does "tints of color" mean that you plan to include a sort of color "creation - selecting" system as https://color.adobe.com/de/ ?

At least I´d be very happy with something similar in Affinity (of course one can still use the Adobe only tool - but well, it´s all about the experience :)

What would be nice with curves filter would be to be able to select colors with buttons.

It would be fast to adjust Master, red, green, blue and alpha.

See the attachment: it is a shot screen of the curves window modified with colored buttons where the drop down menu dwelt.

Best regards

Would one be able to import video files into it?  Possible to the 4.6 resolution of the Blackmagic cameras?  I'm wondering if Photo could be used for creating Matte Paintings
