Staff DWright Posted October 22, 2019 Staff Share Posted October 22, 2019 Hi @godgp78, Can you please provide me with further information on the type of photos that you are using when you are creating a new stack

Relax, go for a walk. I never tested / used the stack feature, but using RAW images could be probably not the best idea. My PC is not so lame, but opening three 24MB raw files for stacking took a while. Hmm, RAW files are ... raw. Perhaps you get better / faster results with files as TIFF or JPEG? Staff DWright Posted October 22, 2019 Staff Share Posted October 22, 2019 Due to the large size of RAW files it can be beneficial to pre-processing the RAW files in to a 16bit Tiff file before you place these into the stack as discussed in the editing section of the Spotlight article below https://affinityspotlight.com/article/shooting-series-1-polaris-star-trails/
godgp78
but if i was to do this then would it not restrict my editing options that is the reason i dont shoot in jpeg as you loos to much information when it compresses the file
John Rostron
Raw files are typically 12- or 14-bit, so saving as16-bit tiffs will not lose any information. Jpegs taken by the camera will be 8-bit and will have less information. Joachim_L
Language barrier for all of us (no disrespect here), but I think DWright means something else. You don't have to shoot the photos as JPEG, do it as RAW. Edit them, save them as TIFF and then stack them. carl123
Error code 200 usually means it's too big Try exporting it to 2000px wide then it should upload Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
