Printing a creation that is larger than standard 8 1/2 by 11 paper

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

New user here. I'm having difficulty with printing/exporting a document I have created. The document is a simple pattern I'd like to use for leatherwork. I have the dimensions on a document at about 15 1/2 by 15. I'm in the US and am using standard letter paper (8 1/2 by 11). I understand the image would break across pages but I'm not sure how to make that happen. I have read about tiled printing but can't seem to make it work. Not sure if I need to first export as a PDF then try to print that PDF...

I'm using a Windows desktop computer.

Thanks for any guidance!

Welcome to the forums Katrice.

Which Affinity application(s) do you have access to? The options available to you may differ with each.
And, is it important that the design is printed at exactly 100% of the original size?
Also, do you want to have some kind of overlap between the tiled sections to make it easier to line them up, or would this be bad?

What happens when you try tiling, Katrice?

Thanks for the quick reply. I only have Affinity Designer, although I have considered others especially if they would be helpful. When I tried tiling the first few times, I got one page that was sort of right then others that were only all black.

I ended up deleting the first attempt and starting anew. That resolved the pages being all black, but then I had an issue with many more pages coming out than I thought I had set up. I am sure this is a new-user-issue and will get better as I learn more.

What is the difference between "n-up" and "tile" when printing?

I will say that this is an amazing product and I look forward to learning more. Even with the short time I've been using it, I was able to get a great start doing that I hoped to! So much to learn though...

Thanks!
