Gregory St. Laurent
Is GPU acceleration still being considered for the Windows version of Photo? Staff stokerg Posted October 21, 2019 Staff Share Posted October 21, 2019 Hi Gregory St. Laurent, This is still being worked on for the Windows version of Affinity, so it hasn't been forgotten about Stagea and Gregory St. Laurent

Affinidesigner
Does anyone have an idea what the timeframe looks like for GPU support for Windows? Surely Mac isn't so good. 😉

I think it's highly unlikely that there'll be an answer from Serif. If they even hint at a timescale there'll be people outraged that this hypercritical feature isn't being implemented quickly enough. If it isn't available by that date there'll be more outraged screams that firm comittments haven't been met! Experienced developers learn to announce new features when they're available, and not before. Quote AP, AD & APub user, running Win10

This also means that when Apple releases new Mac models, Apple will do most of the 'heavy lifting' to minimize or eliminate the need for app developers to revise their code to work with the new hardware. It is more complicated for Windows because there are so many more hardware configurations to support, many of which may require specific drivers or other supporting software that is not installed by default along with the OS.
