Export/import curves

Recommended Posts

Request: provide a way to export and import curves.

Use case: now that photographers and illustrators can print high-res digital negatives, creating "alternative photography" prints (e.g. platinum/palladium, cyanotype, Ziatype, etc.) has become much easier and affordable and popular. Printing the digital negatives requires a curves adjustment (different for each 'alternative') that is tricky to create but then fairly standard so easily shared.

See, for example,

It would be great if the Affinity Photo community could share curves also!

Actually, it would be great if the Affinity community could share adjustments in general for all products/platforms but starting with curves would be great!

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a workaround (from my post to the 'help' forum) I think this feature would be useful so opened a request.

I agree with @Ray S. that a LUT is the general solution for this as it covers more adjustments than simply curves and they can cross over between applications.  There are even applications out there now whose entire function is to generate LUTs that can then be used in other applications, and there are numerous sites with free and for-sale libraries of them.

The idea of having general support for export/import of adjustment settings is not a bad one, but if the idea is to build a library of looks that can be replicated across images, LUTs are simply a better solution for that.

In fact, the Affinity Photo Help specifically suggests that LUTs are the intended way to export adjustments.
