While indexing I noticed the following things. I am particularly surprised by the inconsistency in the handling of the table of contents text styles and index text styles (points 1 to 3):

  1. The names of the automatically created text styles are not personalized (unlike the tables of contents).
  2. The generated drawing styles are not part of a group style (unlike the tables of contents).
  3. The text styles for the index are always displayed. For the table of contents, the text styles are only displayed if the text frame is selected. This improves the clarity in the panel.
  4. I miss the indexing of proper nouns: Albert Einstein -> Einstein, Albert
  5. I miss the fast indexing by keyboard shortcut (without dialog box).

To clarify: You'd like a keyboard shortcut that just adds the index mark (as Ctrl+Alt+Shift+[ does) but doesn't give you an opportunity to verify or adjust how the index entry will look by displaying the Insert Index Mark dialog like the one below?

Yeah, that's what I mean in point five. You can go through the document very quickly in this way and create standard index marks (without being bothered by a dialog box).
"Ctrl+Shift+Alt+[" actually seems to be intended for that (thanks!). But it doesn't work for me.

It's intended to quickly add the index mark, but it can also be important to check that the entry will appear as you want. So (personally) I think it's important to see the dialog. You can quickly dismiss it by hitting enter. So if you really don't want it, it's just Ctrl+Alt+Shift+[ + Enter and then you move on to the next word.

As I said, the shortcut Ctrl+Schift+Alt+[ doesn't work for me (Windows).

Sorry; I misunderstood what you meant. If you go to the menu Text > Index > Insert Index Mark, or to Preferences, Keyboard Shortcuts for Publisher/Text and scroll down to Index > Insert Index Mark what shortcut is listed?

If it's not Ctrl+Alt+Shift+[ then try the one that's listed. If it does show that shortcut, then perhaps your German keyboard is not being interpreted properly. Set the shortcut to one you'd like (or possibly even set it to what is already shown), and see if that works better.

There's no need to apologize. Maybe it's my English.

OK. So there's something wrong with the German version. Maybe a German user can confirm that. Otherwise I will report it as a bug.

There have been other reports of keyboard shortcut issues in the Affinity applications from the users of non-English keyboards. I think that setting your own shortcut should provide you with a good workaround.

Apparently the third key assignment is not interpreted correctly (Alt Gr = "["). If I want to redefine the shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+Alt+8 always appears. It's not what should be there, but it works. Since APub didn't report a collision with another shortcut, I don't mind using it.

Nevertheless, the problem has to be solved.
