"Selection box from Curves" button in Affinity designer !!

Recommended Posts

Hi Roger Lievens :)

In the Pixel Persona of Affinity Designer you can CTRL/CMD + click on a layer to create a selection from it - is this what you're looking for?

Best,
First of all, thank you for your response to my question.
But I found this on the Affinity Help under the "Node" and then went looking for where I could find this in the program.
I have enclosed a copy of this

thanks for your support.

I am working on a course in Dutch for my students

Well, here's what I discovered through trial and error:

Notice in my screenshots below that it's possible to select three node on a curve where the resulting Selection Box fits to the selected nodes but NOT the curve.

However, if I click the "Selection Box From Curves" button, the Selection Box now fits the curve described by the nodes.

I have no idea how this might be useful or relevant.

It is available only when Transform Mode is enabled.

Not a great example but consider rotating 3 nodes like those selected in your first screenshot. Below, the black curve is the original one & the red & green ones are what it looks like after being rotated with & without "Selection Box from Curves" enabled.

Are you asking how to turn a vector object (curves) into a pixel selection?

  1. Make sure the context toolbar is visible. If it is not, enable it by selecting "Show Context Toolbar" on the View menu.
  2. Select one or more vector objects using the Node Tool.
  3. On the context toolbar click the Transform Mode button.  Refer to the icon in the help topic if you don't know which one that is or look for this button: transform_mode@2x.png.536cf7b240e4ace9f56d03dc7b77a9a1.png
  4. The Selection Box From Curves button looks like this: curves_box_mode_lightui@2x.png.04d3643eb9d8ef88e4dd47e13b698717.png

Note that it only useful for manipulating the nodes of curve objects.
