Affinity Designer..... question

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys.  Has any form of 'feathering' mode been added to Affinity? The type of 'feather' that is available in Illustrator? When I used Illustrator I used it to feather and fade picture borders etc. I know there was talk of adding a similar feature, but am unsure if this has happened.

Thanks!

Life is one long design process

There isn't a feathering command as such but there is a really easy way of doing it. Select the photo, draw a rectangle (must have a fill (any) I think) slightly in from the photo. In the layers panel select the rectangle and right click Mask to Below. Then expand the masked object in the Layer panel and select the rectangle mask. Add a Layer Effect Gaussian Blur and move the slider roughly to the middle. It sounds a bit messy but it's very easy once you've done a few and it gives good fading with a lot of non-destructive control.
