phetaroi
When I use the unsharp mask to sharpen a photo, once I get everything adjusted like I want it, and then hit apply, it reverts back to before the sharpening.
Staff stokerg Posted October 16, 2019 Staff Share Posted October 16, 2019 Hi phetaroi and Welcome to the Forums, I'm not finding that here on Mac or Windows. The effect is applied when i press Apply. As you are clicking Apply, i take it you use the Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask option and not the Live Filter version? (if live filter try viewing the image at 100% after you've applied the effect. phetaroi
Yes, I am using the Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask option. And it doesn't do it consistently. Just once in a while on certain photos. It's weird.
walt.farrell
Are you viewing at 100% zoom when you apply the filter? phetaroi
No, I am using it "to fit".
John Rostron
You really need to view at 100% when comparing before and after. If you duplicate your layer first, then apply the filter, you can toggle the visibility of the sharpened layer to compare them (at 100% of course). phetaroi
Thank you. But I think you misunderstand what was happening...I probably didn't explain it well. I will do the sharpening. I hit apply. It's done. And about 2 seconds later it reverts back to what it was before the sharpening. You can actually see the sharpness suddenly degrade. John Rostron
Does the Sharpness filter action disappear from your History panel? phetaroi
No, it doesn't show up at all after you hit apply. It wasn't doing it anymore...until today.
John Rostron
@phetaroiThe only thing I can suggest is that you make a screen recording including your image (at 100%) and the history panel. Violinman
Hello, using version 1.8.2 I experienced the same problem, I opened a jpeg image, used the unsharp masked to get the sharpen just right, clicked apply and the image went back to the unsharp state as soon as the unsharp mask had closed. However I have just downloaded the upgrade version 1.8.3 and the problem seems now to be fixed! Brian walt.farrell
