  1. Hi, Sometimes I'm assembling components on a page, but I'm working on a canvas that is sized towards the end result. Is there a way to keep objects dragged off-canvas visible or do I have to switch to a "canvas + artboard" model to keep track of those objects? If, for instance, I create an A4 landscape canvas and drag an object outside the canvas area it basically becomes invisible and can only retrieved by either block selecting the whole area and dragging it on the canvas again or highlighting the relevant layer and dragging it back onto the canvas. Is there a setting for the off-canvas border to remain behind objects dragged off-canvas? Attached: example circle partly vanishing when being off-canvas Cheers!
  2. I am not using proper terminology but I want to see images and objects that are not on the page but on the workspace or off canvas on every page in publisher. In Corel Draw is called the desktop and the settings are found in the page palette if someone knows what I mean by that. Thanks
  3. I keep accidentally rotating the entire workspace as I'm working in Affinity Designer. Not just the artboard, which I know I can specify rotation in the transform palette. In Adobe PS, you can press "esc" to undo an accidental rotation, but that doesn't work with AF, neither does command z. I keep manually and imperfectly rotating it back, but there's got to be a quicker way.
  4. I'm not sure if this is a bug, oversight, missing feature, or I just can't find a way to do it but I need to change my workspace color to something much darker. I can set a UI preferences to a dark theme and that's a big start but the document color, even when set to transparent is still white (light grey checker is still very bright). This actually increases eye strain against the dark background & UI. My expectation would be that the shades of the transparent document space shift with the light/dark theme and background or artboard sliders. Dragging a rectangle over every page isn't a viable option for publisher and and even in designer creates other issues since I want the "blank" space when time to export out transparent images or for printing without having to find and disable every cover-up cludge. This is an accessibility issue for me (and long term eye health for everyone) but applies to general industry of printing to color or non-bleached stock or anyone that works in teams and one may prefer dark screens and another bright.
  5. When using "Photo - Launch registered application" function in Olympus Workspace on an E-P5 camera ORF raw file, Affinity Photo does not open it as a raw file, but immediately show it as a jpg format. This happens when no jpg format of the photo is available on the drive. Attached is a sample ORF raw file that opens in JPG format. There is no problem opening the ORF raw file any other way. 6. Good afternoon. I have been using Affinity Publisher with the 1.7.3 update with no issues. I left a file open last night but windows decided to reboot my computer thus shutting everything down. When I opened Publisher today it recovered my work alright but for some reason the document keeps moving to the left and I can't stop it. It only does it when the cursor is over the workspace and stops when I move the cursor off the workspace. I have saved the work and shut down Publisher and re-opened Publisher but it makes no difference. It also does it if I open a new document in Publisher. I have just tried opening files in Photo 1.7.3 and also Designer 1.7.3 and the same thing happens. has anyone else come accross this issue or have any ideas how to stop it? I can't do anything with it. Just a thought...I updated Publisher and Photo a soon as the updates were available and everything worked OK. I did the Designer update yesterday. Many thanks in advance
  7. I needed to go into separated mode today and was surprised to find that I couldn't get back to the normal view later. If I select merge under the window menu the checkmark remains on separated mode. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? I don't use separated mode enough to know if this behavior is unusual. Seems like it should just snap back into the view that is just windows in front of a blank background rather then seeing all my other app windows behind me.
  8. Wow - so cool that you can even rotate pages / workspace now - don't know, when I should use it yet - but I found out by accident and no way to easily rotate back to 0°. I'd think that Ctrl+0 will reset my view but this doesn't work. Also no options within my document settings or the navigator. That's where I did look up to reset - I think the navigator should be the place to find it - and Ctrl+0 should reset the view as expected - also rotation. #
  9. Affinity Publisher workspace recently started rendering colours differrently to all other apps on my PC. For example, if I set the RGB sliders to 255, 0, 0, i.e. red, the resulting swatch colour is noticeably orange and a colour picker such as Pixie or the Windows Powertools picker shows the swatch as RGB 246, 47, 20. Colours are consistently "off" across the spectrum and across sessions. The problem doesn't appear to be caused by instability. The same problem appears in Photo and Designer. Example: Here's how Publisher renders a fairly cool, mid-dark green colour: RGB 4, 99, 7. As you can see the external picker reads it as rgb(74, 114, 8). The document's colour format is set to RGB/8 and the colour profile is sRGB IEC61966-2.1. Below is the above Publisher file exported as a PDF, using the digital high quality preset with colours set to RGB/8 and sRGB IEC61966-2.1. The green is rendered how I'd expect RGB 4, 99, 7, to look like. Windows' colour picker agrees. Lastly here's the two colours next to each other in MS Word to illustrate that it seems to be Publisher that's having a problem with colour rendering, not other apps or necessarily my monitor. This is my Publisher's colour setup in Preferences (Publisher default I believe): My graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series with the most recent driver available. The monitor is a Dell SP2309W on the standard preset. Windows colour management profile is sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile. This is the same setup under which Publisher rendered colours reliably before. However, I have tried just about every combination of colour profile, monitor preset, contrast/brightness, Publisher colour management option and software calibration to see whether it made a difference. Unfortunately it didn't. Does anyone have any ideas why it's only my Affinity apps that render colours in a way that means that colour pickers show different RGBs to the one set in Affinity's colour Studio, whereas all my other apps render the expected colour consistently? Could it be a workspace rendering issue, since exported images and PDFs show the colours correctly? If it was a monitor problem, surely I'd be seeing inconsistencies with colours everywhere, not solely in the Affinity apps? Could this be related to the "washed out colours" issue reported in the past? Were any of those users able to resolve it?
  10. Due to lack of native solution I present you Spaceman It allows you to backup and restore workspaces of Photo, Designer and Publisher. There's also sync option if you want to have same UI in Publisher personas and standalone applications. Spaceman is command line tool with very straightforward operation, backups are created in folder from where it is started. Feel free to suggest further improvements and give me a shot if you found bug! Edit: There was a problem with compiled .exe so now I'm sharing .bat file instead (and also for peace of mind of @CLC ) Spaceman.bat
  11. Please enable the ability to save custom workspaces in Photo, Designer, and Publisher. Often, the end user will need to create custom workspaces for various workflows. At present, none of the Affinity products allow for saving and recalling custom workspaces to apply to different workflow needs. While the ability exists to change the default workspace that loads each time you launch the application, as an end user we are "stuck" with only one option or reverting to factory defaults and starting over with a new desired layout. This is highly inefficient. I've discovered that the code has already been completed for this feature but for some reason has not been provided as an option to us. Please correct this blunder as soon as humanly possible. Custom workspaces are standard practice in virtually all professional workflows. Thank you kindly!
  12. The current workspace is suitable for 1920x1080 resolution monitors. But, workspace icon and menu text size is too small on 4K monitors. CorelDraw allows users to change the size of icons and menu text in the workspace. Consider the monitor size and resolution so that you can set the menu text and tool icon size in the AP and AD workspaces. corel draw options dialogue box
  13. Hi, I'd like to set a colour (not the default black) for the workspace background which is different to the document area, but I can't see how to do this. Can anyone help please? Cheers, H.
  14. Good morning, If I export a TIFF and try to open it in Olympus Workspace, the TIFF is not accessible. TIFFs generated using Helicon Focus or Photoshop Elements run without any problems. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance, GM

  16. Workspace customization is currently difficult and laborious. Feature request 1: Workspace saving | Now if I want to save workspaces, they must be copied from system files. Also i hate to lose my workspace setup after updating software. 1.5, 1.6 and now 1.7. Feature request 2: Workspace customization improvements | Now moving tool tabs and setting up custom workspace is very frustrating. Many times elements just can't snap into desired location or snapping area is very odd. Feature request 3: Workspace reset to saved workspace
  17. I am really liking publisher so far, and can imagine working with it professionally in the future. I am using indesign cs5.5 at the moment and one thing I would like to see in publisher which is in this program is collapsible panels. I like to have some panels open all the time, like character, paragraph, pages and color. This already fills my workspace pretty much, but I would like other options quickly available too, but not take up space all the time, f.i. the text frame option, the text styles and stroke options. Having some way to group a couple and minimize them would be very helpful.
  18. How can I display thumbnails in the bottom of the works space so I do not have to open and close each file? Opening and closing each file takes way to much time when editing hundreds of images from a photo shoot. I do not see any indication of this ability in the help area. RJ
  19. Hi I have affinity publisher on w10 . When i i move a picture off the page onto the work space to re-use elsewhere it dissapears it only shows on a mouse over as a marque if i'm lucky your tutorials show images off page and certainly no problem in Page plus ! Any help ,ideas welcome Thanks
  20. Hi! I am wondering whether there is any way to set a panel row (with more than one panel) to a fixed size. I mean I don't want the panels to change their size depending on the size of the panles above and below and their own size. To show what I mean I have attached some examples. There is never the same height for a row. It's jumping around with every panel change. Would be very nice if there would be a way for switching that off. All the best, Chris
  21. Hello. Can we get saveable workspaces? I use a laptop + external monitor most of the time, but not always. I need a separate panel layout for each of these situations: Laptop: unified panel layout (uncheck "separated mode") Laptop + monitor: Separated mode: Most panels arranged on laptop + context bar and artboard on external monitor. If I could save an instance of each workspace I could easily switch between depending on the situation. Hopefully this is in the works as I think this would be a feature many professionals would utilise. Thanks
  22. Hi, I've just bought Affinity Photo. I hadn't execute it for the moment cause i want to know where is the best HDD to install it. I've 2 SSD (one for the C and the another for work) and 1 HDD (for minor work). So, does someone know what's the best solution ? I execute it on C and folders on the other SSD? All on the same SSD?
  23. Hi, I would like the background to my photos in Affinity to be white. I have tried changing the interface background grey level, but when I close and reopen the program it defaults back to grey. How do I get it to stay white?..........ps: seems to be fixed now for some reason. Diane
  24. Hello all! First of all, I must state that I am a complete beginner regarding affinity Designer although I am used to AI, maybe that's where the problem lays. I am using AD as a trial for now (plan on buying) and on windows 10, with a graphic tablet. First thing I am wondering is that is there anyway to rotate the workspace (studio?) in order to draw more naturally. I saw people doing that with Designer on Ipad (and I can do that in PS and AI) and it would be ace if it could be done in the desktop version. Problem is, I can't find anything related (and so far simple searches return zilch) Second question so far would be to know if there's a way to quickly - or defaulting, painstakingly - copy effects from one layer to another (either by drag and drop with a modifier key or without, or simply by "copy and paste")... Again, I can't find anything. I guess I can group the different layers and apply the effects on the group, but I usually apply effects by copy and pasting (PS/AI) and then sometimes modify the effects individually. For example: drop shadows and the way they interact with each others. I probably don't type in the right words, but I hope my queries make sense... I will have no doubts plenty of other questions to ask as I go along Thanks!
  25. I'm not sure if this subject has been addressed before or not but I did a quick search and didn't find anything. is there a way for me to separate the boolean operations and the arrange tools from the toolbar and combine them into a floating window along with the transform window? it's just part of the workflow that that I'm used to using from AI.
