  1. Hello World, Here's what I have done so far by creating a design system using Affinity Designer. I also have attached my Affinity Designer source file. Feel free to download and play around with it. I have developed a UI Design based on this using HTML and CSS. 2. Hello Affinity, I was wondering if you guys are going to include a Prototyping Software for UX. I have purchased Affinity Designer and I loved it. I just wanted to know whether you guys are planning to add Prototyping Persona or maybe lunching a Prototyping software for UX since the User Experience industry is booming. I have created this UI in Affinity Designer and I would want to add interactivity to it. Like add transition effects, design overlays, clickable buttons to go from one artwork to another and record the whole process and render it as a video for user testing. I have also did a mini project and attached it in this form so it could give you guys an idea. Thank you
  3. Hi, I'll post here an idea to improve more the Affinity Designer experience, I got this idea while working, when I'm dealing with thousands of layers, sometimes I need to find or access some specific layers in big projects and it's quite hard to deal with it without a way to filter, and I think this example below can illustrate better the idea. I work with 2d animations too, and in this software in the right side as example, they have an amazing way to filter some categories and this user experience can also helps Affinity in next improvements. anyway thanks for taking this into consideration. cheers, Jhon
  4. hi, I've been using affinity designer since 1 full year, so I think it's time to place my thoughts here as professional User, for long period of work I really miss more customization by the user side, as I work with vector pieces, sometimes is really time-consuming to click on the buttons to apply some simple changes, so I think the toolbar top options should also be available to apply as hotkey, because I can't see these options as option to use in my keyboard. I think this would be very helpful during my daily work and for all users as well. thanks
  5. When a user clicks on the Stroke Panel's tab to bring it to the front, I would hazard a guess that the first thing that most users would want to do is set the stroke width. Is it possible that when the stroke panel is activated and brought to the front that the stroke width field be the highlighted and active field by default so it is ready for input without having to click into the field first? It's a little tweak, but it would speed things up. There are other places where this same thinking applies across all three of the Affinity apps. Also, when editing a field that already contains a value, it would be great if the user could click on that field's label or icon to fully highlight the value in that field so a new value can immediately be entered. It's faster than clicking into the field and manually selecting the value that needs to be changed. Some, but not all of the Adobe apps work this way and while it too is a little thing, it is surprising how it speeds up your work. There are still a few missing features on my wishlist before I can fully kick Adobe to the curb, but Affinity is doing an awesome job! I use the Affinity apps when I can and when I need to use Adobe, it's like taking a time machine to the past – their stuff just feels dated, bloated and slow. (not to mention expensive)
  6. Hi guys, Can anyone tell me how is the compatibility between Affinity Designer and Protopie? I would like to use AD to design the user interface and be able to animate it in Protopie, is it possible? Thank you,
  7. The more I tinker with Affinity Photo, the more I run into bad, but quite easy to fix traps. Some of them are caused simply by the fact that a tool behaviour remains stuck the inappropriate positions, so that they block editing in later stages of the project. Here's two: 1) Recently I found out that selection-tools stubbornly remain stuck to their previous Subtractive state even if the user wants to create a fresh selection. The operation fails, although the user has picked the appropriate tool and also has performed the expected motion. Here one badly needed an exception to the rule – selection tools have to create a selection if the tool can not find anything to subtract from. Others suggested that Affinity should beep or show a dialog and by that inform + CTA the user that the tool is in the wrong state – but that would be horrible UX. At that point you could also abolish your assistants too. Don't make me think, don't ask for pointless decisions and action if there's exactly one expected behaviour: Making a (fresh) selection. 2) Today I saw another thing which is even a lot nastier as there's not even a suble visible indicator. One may hide selections (hide the marching ants), which is great. But that hidden state even remains active when the user wants to create a new selection. Such really may not happen. There's absolutly no workflow imaginable where this made sense, this is just a trap and nothing else. A hard to understand trap – imagine you had a selection hidden and go to lunch, afterwards you pick a selection tool and run into what's shown in the GIF. Selection tools always have to revert to state=visible whenever a selection is dropped. Is there anyone in charge, exclusively for little usability-killers of that kind? It would well be worth it.
  8. Hello, I have been waiting with excitement for the Affinity BETA to come out on windows. After opening Affinity, i was not convinced. I really got this "not bad" feeling.. This is because of 1 main issue; i don't like the user interface. Functionally speaking, its great. It beats photoshop in my opinion. But its not even close to what i had hoped for.. I am a big fan of "minimalism" and "flat" design, not just for its looks, but for the overall experience. I came accross a photoshop redisign made by Aurélien Salomon on Behance: https://www.behance.net/gallery/19600227/Photoshop-redesign This is how a modern and new photo editor app/program, in my opinion, should look like. Design is contantly evolving, so the tools that are used to create design should be designed with this in mind. My suggestion: create an user interface that works with templates. Give the user control of how Affinity looks like. What would be better then an editor that by itself gives inspiration to create more beautifull & smart designs?
  9. Hello This feature was requested by me when discussing a bug, so now I'm requesting it here at the right place. At the moment, when a user has OSX in a non-english language, the OS offers a translation of certain common font styles like bold, italic, regular etc. In a few applications made by Apple such as Numbers or Pages, and also in the Font Book app, these translations are used when selecting fonts from the fontmenu. Most professional design applications however use the original (non-translated) names in the font selection. At this moment, Affinity applications use the translated names, even though the rest of the user interface is English. I personally think the way OSX translates font styles is quite primitive, and I often encounter fonts where half of the styles are translated in Dutch, while the other half are not translated because the typedesigner chose non-traditional names for these styles. Other design-related applications ignore the OSX translations and use the original style names, which is more practical in a professional environment. As long as Affinity doesn't offer application wide translation, I personally think it's better for Affinity to ignore the OSX translations, because we now get a inconsistent user interface with two languages. I'm looking forward to hear how you think about this.
  10. Editing Colours in the Gradient Map panel needs to select the colour point and then clicking on the Colour field. I supposed editing Colours just by double clicking the round colour point on the gradient. I think this would be more intuitiv and more efficient.
