  1. Hi guys, I am experiencing a weird behavior of Publisher with a preproduction font that lays heavily on the contextual alternate Opentype feature. The problem: The font is valid and works fine in Indesign CC 2021 and the Typeface font manager as well as on fontdrop.info. However, when I turn on the contextual alternatives in Publisher, all of them are rendered except for the ones related to the lowercase "i" (like "is", "in" etc.) . See first screenshot for Publisher (blue), second for Indesign CC (black). I am able to reproduce the issue. Please note that I can only provide the font file directly to the support staff. Cheers, Johannes Latest version of Publisher macOS Mojave (latest) Hardware Acc.: On
  2. I just wanted to let everyone know that Monotype, the creators of FontExplorer X, told me via a tweet that they definitely have Affinity products on their radar for integration. This is really good news, however as with all software development they have not been able to provide a timeline. I recommend that everyone who wants font activation and enjoy using FontExplorer X as much as I have over the past 10 years, should contact them and let them know there is a huge community wanting auto font activation. It's such a pain to do it manually. See below. @nathan_ford @monotype This is definitely on our radar, and we agree that Affinity apps are impressive. Thank you for your input, Chris! 2/27/20
  3. Hello. I used AD to draw and slice single glyphs for my new comic book font... regular is done, others (italic, bold, bold ilalic) are still in progress. ... and here is the sampler:
  4. Hi everyone! Will be support for variable fonts in the near future?
  5. It would help type designers a lot to have a folder that not only automatically activates the containing fonts, but also replaces the typefaces in the documents when replacing the font file in that specific folder. Like Adobe has it. The process of testing fonts in publisher is very frustrating at the moment. There seems to also be a strange font cache behavior that just doesn't update fonts unless restarting the software.
  6. Affinity Designer 1.8 cannot recognize or render 99% of Windows 10 basic system fonts correctly. Some of the installed fonts are also not in the drop down option/ cannot be found in the character panel. Even the previews in the drop down renders wrong. Is there any way to fix this?
  7. There still seems to be a bug in administrating/organising fonts and font families. While other applications display a font family properly and make all assigned typefaces of the family available in a proper drop down menu, publisher struggles in finding a family and belonging fontfaces. In the example you can see how InDesign (and many other applications) displays the Adobe "HelveticaNeueStd" Family with all typefaces in a proper menu ... an than have a look at the mess Affinity Publisher produces from the same family - this is very hard to work with ... nearly every (not all) typeface seems to be a seperate font family ... a nightmare ... Cheers, Timo
  8. Hey guys! I'm quite new to affinity designer and this was the first typeface I designed on Affinity Designer on iPad. A month later I bought the desktop version too. It's a free font and you can download it (or play with the preview tools) via dafont or my website nantia.co
  9. Tell me please, will Affinity support variable fonts in the near future? I am a developer of similar fonts. Thanks!
  10. After messing with photography, editing and a little bit of design work I finally got AD and I absolutely love it. I do a lot of marketing and design stuff for my band but there's a certain limit to what I can do before I have to source it out. I'm slowly finding my bearings and am looking forward to learning more and developing in the realm of an amateur graphic designer. Here's a couple of simple ones I recently did just to get a hand of a few techniques. Comments and criticism welcome!
