I just wanted to let everyone know that Monotype, the creators of FontExplorer X, told me via a tweet that they definitely have Affinity products on their radar for integration. This is really good news, however as with all software development they have not been able to provide a timeline. I recommend that everyone who wants font activation and enjoy using FontExplorer X as much as I have over the past 10 years, should contact them and let them know there is a huge community wanting auto font activation. It's such a pain to do it manually. See below. @nathan_ford @monotype This is definitely on our radar, and we agree that Affinity apps are impressive. Thank you for your input, Chris! 2/27/20

Hi everyone! Will be support for variable fonts in the near future?
-
It would help type designers a lot to have a folder that not only automatically activates the containing fonts, but also replaces the typefaces in the documents when replacing the font file in that specific folder. Like Adobe has it. The process of testing fonts in publisher is very frustrating at the moment. There seems to also be a strange font cache behavior that just doesn't update fonts unless restarting the software.

Affinity Designer 1.8 cannot recognize or render 99% of Windows 10 basic system fonts correctly. Some of the installed fonts are also not in the drop down option/ cannot be found in the character panel. Even the previews in the drop down renders wrong. Is there any way to fix this?

Tell me please, will Affinity support variable fonts in the near future? I am a developer of similar fonts. Thanks!

1. Create new Document. Print A4. 2. Create new text box with width 40 mm 3. Download, install Nyala font from ... (edit: removed the link, as source might be unlicensed ) 4. Set font of box to Nyala, 12pt 5. Paste "I guess, we decided that a mystery is more intriguing" 6. Crash. You can also just start typing. It will crash on linebreak. Workaround for me: Use another font. It might be a problem with the font itself but I thought I rather report. Mac 10.13.3 Beta (17D29a) Affinity Designer 1.6.0

After messing with photography, editing and a little bit of design work I finally got AD and I absolutely love it. I do a lot of marketing and design stuff for my band but there's a certain limit to what I can do before I have to source it out. I'm slowly finding my bearings and am looking forward to learning more and developing in the realm of an amateur graphic designer. Here's a couple of simple ones I recently did just to get a hand of a few techniques. Comments and criticism welcome!

Dear Affinity dev team, Indeed not fixed ... I do know it's been posted before but honestly, after such a long issue lifespan I don't care about your forum rules etc. How and when the issue with typeface selection will be solved? And if it seems rude please excuse me!, it's the frustration from the product that causes such user experience! Otherwise I do enjoy using your products, except at this particular moment (which lasts months now!). P.S. the idea of having a separate beta version installed, is not something that makes me feel satisfied either. The problem was noticed after adding some new typefaces in the Font Book.
