  1. Dear Affinity Designer Team, I am very excited follower of your work. Your app seems to have the potential for a AI alternative for what I am looking for since months. I am very close to purchase it. But there is one critical feature I am missing and that is a 3D tool box. Beside AI there is no other vector graphics software on the market which is able to "extrude" objects and to use their path to make perspectival logos a.s.o. To give a better understanding of my request I attach three AI tutorials resulting in very simple but neat logo designs: a) 3D maze: http://gomedia.us/zine/tutorials/illustrator/create-3d-vector-labyrinth-maze/ b) Flying Stars: http://www.bittbox.com/illustrator/illustrator-tutorial-how-to-make-3d-vector-vintage-stars c) Perspectival logos: http://www.vektorgarten.de/illu-tipps-3d.html In addition a shape library for simple 3D objects (cube, sphere, cylinder, tube...) would be amazing. I hope, I did not ignore a feature which is doing similar things. Thanks for your great work. Cheers, Laser.
  2. Hey guys, I was recently designing a brochure in Publisher and I was simply trying to scale a group but for whatever reason it was not working how I thought it should work. Example - I had 2 placed images, a vector curve and some copy and headline text in a group. I wanted to scale the group proportionally and make it bigger, but when I did so the images and the vector curve scaled correctly and the headline text and copy pretty much stayed the same size. No matter which way I tried to do this it didn't work...I just ended up doing this manually (scaling the text manually and separately even though the headline and text was in a group) not sure what I'm doing wrong but I hope it's a simple fix..... This seems like a basic thing to be able to do (works in Indesign haha) Thanks in advance.
  3. Hello dear people, Would you know how to flip an object/shape through a self-defined point in AfD? "Flip Horizontal" would always flip through center, even after dragging the "center-point" to some place else. (Crosshairs-thingy in the screenshot). Moving this point makes my shape rotate around it, but has in my case no effect on other transformations than rotating). Thanks
  4. Hi! I'm struggling to to do this – https://www.dropbox.com/s/npwdnrt7meqdax3/AFT_ScreenRecording - 20190702_1935.mov?dl=0 – in any of Affinity software. Am I missing something? Lack of a solid transform tool feels to me like a deal breaker. Best regards P.
  5. Hi, Is there a way to work with Affinity Designer so that I never get decimals in the Transform panel? I'm getting mixed results with using "Force Pixel Alignment" and "Move by Whole Pixel" and due to snapping/aligning, I sometimes still end up getting : X: 900px | Y:62,5px Of course this makes sense, if you align something in the middle, and the heights don't match, you do the divide by 2, and get a ,5 decimal... but it makes me always having to check the transform panel to make sure I don't have "badly" positioned elements. The reason I want this is for better export. I found that export works best if things are aligned on full pixel value. Maybe you can change the logic of the "Force Pixel Alignment" and/or "Move by Whole Pixel" to actually reflect this and do rounding of values whenever decimals are present. The explanations above are a bit all over the place, hopefully you understand the goal. If I were to go deeper into implementation, I would say this would make sense for "Move by Whole Pixel" with the rounding of the X / Y values. If user holds ALT / OPTION key pressed, then maybe allow decimal values, as an exception. Width and Height with decimals are maybe not that big of a deal, because the export slice can be set to a whole number, but the reference point (X/Y) is pretty important.
  6. Since 1.) the Bug Report Section is closed, 2.) I can find no explanation for this, and 3.) the search tools do not seem to work well for finding information on the site, I am reporting this very annoying bug without knowing if it is already known, being worked on, being ignored, etc.: Transform position data sometimes messed up on flipped/rotated items (grouped and ungrouped) makes it very hard to position duplicated items with accuracy. Using Affinity Designer 1.3.5 on core i7 iMac running 10.8.5 After an items is flipped, the position information in the transform panel sometimes gets messed up. With rotation the axis of the item sometimes appears to get rotated with the object (!??) which is annoying since the position information in the translation panel becomes largely useless (left is right, up is down, etc.) While a problem in itself, it can often be noticed and understood as the transform panel indicates the item has been rotated. When an item is flipped, however, the axes are again sometimes flipped with the object (!??) This again makes the position information in the transform panel largely useless in positioning objects because again, left is right etc. More annoying however, there is no indication of the transform so one "just has to know" the position data is screwed up and useless. I have tried to replicate this, but have no sure way to do it. It seems to be arbitrary and non-standard behavior but may be related to multiple duplication and/or transformation/flipping (I'm creating parts duplicating them, and using them in another part of the drawing. Is this a known problem, file corruption or what? If I am missing something with the software, please let me know. PS why is bug reporting closed? How should bugs be reported?
  7. Hello everyone, Currently you can use 'simple' math calculations in the transform panel. Lets say I have an item with with: 500px, when I type in 50% in the 'width' box it scales it to 250px. I would like to suggest a CSS 'calc' like thing. For instance, the same box, that I can type in 50% - 15px that it will create an item of 235px.
  8. Hello, I have two lines. From the first, I move point A with the node tool to position B. Now, I want to move the point A from a second line with the same values. How can I do this?
  9. The desktop version of Affinity Photo has a series of helpful Move tool modifiers available in the toolbar. Which of these are also available in the iPad version either as a button, a menu option, or as a multi-touch modifier? Enable Transform Origin (I'm particularly interested in this one) Hide Selection while Dragging Show Alignment Handles Transform Objects Separately Cycle Selection Box (attached screenshot is from Affinity Photo for Mac 1.7.2.151)
  10. Would be nice if I could use transform origin of Move/Point Transform tool to transform objects.
  11. Currently, the “shear” function of the Transform Studio within Designer only shears objects along the ‘x’ axis, or horizontally. To shear vertically, the user has to turn the target object 45 degrees (on its side), reorient the control handles, perform “shear” function, turn the object 45 degrees in the opposite direction, and either reorient the handles again, or deselect the object and allow the handles to default to their original rotation. If the resulting vertical shear is not correct, the user has to start over to attempt to correct the shear. A second “shear” control would make the vertical shearing process so much easier. The two controls could be named “Shear X” and “Shear Y”, or “Shear Horz” and “Shear Vert”. It would be something to keep users from going crazy while Affinity continues to steer itself down its chosen roadmap and finally implement the Envelope Vector Warp users have been promised. I honestly would really really really really really prefer the Vector Warp, but Vertical Shear I’d be willing to take now. Soon. Like, during the next update.
  12. Hi, I have a little problem with the Transform Studios. When I start any of the desktop application with the normal application window and using the transform studio (moving or resizing something) the tab progress process X, Y, W, H: normal.mov I think this is a normal. But if I use the desktop applications with the Separated Mode. In Separated Mode the tab progress process is X, W, Y, H: separated mode.mov This is not natural for me. Why changing this progress? Thanks.
  13. Hi! I have tried to search the forum and the rest of the internet for an answer but the closest I could find was a thread on the desktop version. Can you help me figure this thing out? I want to rotate selected nodes around an anchor point - freely selected or one of the basic 9 corners. To clarify, if we look at the photo I attached I want to rotate the arm to be more upright but the rotate (and shear/skew) function is greyed out. At least the latter (using basic corner points) used to be possible in the previous version but apparently after the update certain functions have been relocated. The point transform tool lets me rotate around a selected node but it rotates the whole shape where I only want to move specific nodes. How do you do this nowadays or it’s even possible in this update?
  14. Hi, is there any way to keep distance between two or more objects, when I am transforming them? It would be very usable in UI design. Im talking about situation, when i have fixed width container and want to put in it 4 elements with 30px gap between them. Now, when i want to transform that group of 4 elements, they change width, but margin between them will keep that 30px. To be clear - i don't talk about auto distribute feature - i know about it, but it affects gaps width only, not objects themselfs.
  15. Is there a way to transform only selected nodes within a shape? I can select nodes, but I can't figure out how to scale, rotate, or skew them, though I can apply those functions to the entire shape. In Photoshop (for example) I can select any number of nodes within a given shape, then hit Command-T to enter Free Transformation mode. From then on, any transforms will apply only to the nodes I had selected. I've attached an example. I just want to know if this is (yet) possible in AD, as it's something I actually find myself doing quite regularly. (Apologies if I've missed something!)
  16. Just a smidgety little one. Draw a shape. Transform panel, click on another transform point. New point gets bigger, but top left default point stays white. New point doesn't get white. Not the end of the world. Not even Brexit.
  17. A Transform each would be excellent. Similar to AI function, giving options in scale, rotation, skew, etc.
  18. When I use my transform studio the X and Y axis sort of glitch out. Look at the video attached for a better description. Any help would be greatly appreciated FBA47930-A444-471A-BE22-474E0894FF87.MOV
  19. AD need a feature that enables a transformation to be applied to each object in a selection, rather than the operation being performed on selection as if it were grouped. I.e. scaling each of the objects in a selection by 150% without changing their location on the page. This is a hugely useful feature in other drawing programs.
  20. Changing line size in the transform panel causes weird behaviours(disappears completely and can't undo). See attached video. Line Transform Input Bug.mov
  21. Hi, I have AD 1.6.1 on MacOS Mojave 10.14.3, and when I tried looking up Help on transforming (as I need the one thing missing in the default shapes, a parallelogram) I got.. well, nothing. Is this me or is there something broken here? Is this not-help stored locally or does it have to be pulled in from the Net (in which case it isn't)? First I used the pulldown menu, and I drew a blank after selection of the topic that appeared viable to me. Next I re-entered the search term in that window I got and got something which after a mouse click led me to .. .. nothing again. Don't get me wrong, I like the minimalism but it's just a tad unhelpful. I also have AD beta 1.7.0.4 installed which DID give me an answer after some prodding (screenshot added), so I'm guessing that's what I'll have to use for the moment. Bug, feature or me? (BTW, not to worry about the parallelogram, that turned out to be as stupidly easy as I was suspecting - no need for transformations ) Cheers, Binc
  22. Hello there! I am currently trying to resize an existing artboard to an exact value using the transform panel, however I can't get the textframes to scale with the artboard, rather than just changing the frame size. When I use the "scale handle" and "manually" resize the artboard, it works just fine. How would I go about doing it with the transform panel? I have this question also over on stackexchange: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/120555/affinity-designer-how-do-i-make-textframes-scale-with-the-artboard-if-i-scale-b Also attached you should find a gif demonstrating the issue I am facing.
  23. So I was wondering whether it was possible to flip the entire canvas. I found this post which only says how to flip a layer instead of a canvas… …but what about the entire canvas?
  24. Hi all, Is there a way to reset the transform values of a layer? Cheers, Juan
  25. Hi, In Photoshop I can do Edit > Transform > Scale to enlarge an image on a layer. How do I achieve the same in Affinity Photo? I understand that I can use "Place", but is there a similar way as in PS? Regards & Thanks, David
