  1. Any Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort features soon? This year? Any date release? I need to know if I need to change apps. What is everyone else doing to get around not having Distortion or Perspective distorts in Affinity Designer? Any tips?
  2. This may seem like a small detail, but it constantly trips me up when opening new documents that the top default tool in Affinity Photo is for some reason the View tool (Hand, for panning around) and not the arrow pointer Move tool. This is different for some reason in Photo, whilst both Affinity Designer and Publisher follow the convention of most other tool-based graphics software that have move/select tools as the first default tool and the view/pan tool placed by the zoom tool. Seems extra strange since the View tool is probably the one tool I never use as it's so easy to pan around with middle mouse button or space bar. So if you don't have any good reason for this, please change the default top tool to the Move tool and move the View tool down like in your other software.
  3. Kerning toggle tool not working as usual in iPad app, instead of adjusting the letters it just sort of twitches around 0%... anyone else having this issue?
  4. Hi there, I’m not sure why, but Affinity randomly changes the selected tool after a couple of seconds when nothing is touching the screen. Very annoying. Is this a bug to be fixed?
  5. Hi, I really wish I could dock the "Tools" to the right of the screen: either to the left of Right Studio or to its right (basically at the right edge of the screen).. or even horizontally at the top. To me it is a big annoyance when using the Affinity suite that the only choice is docked as it is now or undocked (I don't like undocked anything usually). I would imagine it is annoying for many right-handed people.. a decent number of people are right handed no ?!!
  6. I am posting this feedback in this section of the forum, I hope this help to improve the software Not going to talk about the bugs, I hope all of them get fixed I am going to compare my experience with other softares, such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape (the ones I use the most) For the few time I have used the software I can tell is very minimalistic, (I really hope this is not because the Ipad version limitations, as PC can do much more than a Ipad, so I hope PC version is not being limited to keep in the same quality of the Ipad version) Or maybe is the way the software is going to be, as it could be a minimalistic software not planned to have advanced features, I would like to know which kind of software Affinity Designer aim to be, minimalistic or advanced? Developer team care for both personas this mean less time to focus to improve designer persona and possibly priorize pixel persona over vector persona (The software is meant to be a vector graphic software, rather than a raster graphic software) The exporting persona is not intuitive and does not have much more to offer than the traditional exporting in the user menu The software have very few settings and some of them are not compatible with SVG format (The standard file format for vector graphics) The software have very few tools and some of them are not compatible with SVG format (The standard file format for vector graphics) There are very few tools for vector graphics, and the customization for them are very tricky and not intuitive & limited _ What I suggest is to focus on introducing new tools&features&settings to work with vector graphics and improve the ones that the software already have Currently I don`t use this software because of the limitations exposed, as other vector graphic software have to offer much more optimized tools&features for vector format (SVG), I really hope it get more complexity eventually as for now it is not a stand alone software for its limitations & few features for vector graphics.
  7. Hello everyone! I have opened this thread with the intention of recommending an improvement in geometry tools, generally I have used Adobe illustrator and corel Draw although more corel draw than illustrator xD in fact by the simplicity of their tools especially those of fusion and trimming, I explain... Having two or more objects and wanting to make an intersection is usually the area where the intersection is formed and the rest is eliminated, isn't it? in corel the intersection creates a new object (of that intersection) leaving intact the two selected elements, this is very useful to illustrate human figure where sometimes we do not want to lose the elements and rather create a new one. Another tool and I think that of the best is the back less front and less front behind, usually seems absurd, say (hey but for that I can place the object in front and subtract it from the back, but believe me the practicality of having two buttons summarizes a few steps and is quite comfortable. and maybe I say it from the perspective of a user who uses mostly coreldraw, but every designer who has tried those tools feels that all other programs should have the same function. (that's what I said when I tried several corel things and decided to change my software) affinity has a great power!! ahhh and forgot to recommend you to use flat icons, I don't know why but I think the user experience could improve a little with them. Greetings!
  8. Hello, I would find it very useful if I was able to freely position the tool pop ups from for example the curve or hsl tool. Especially on the iPad Pro 11 inch the center placement of the tool often makes it harder to judge the impact adjustments have on the image while using the tool as it takes up a lot of screen real estate in the center. A great addition would be if something like being able to undock tool and drag it with two fingers to a different location in the workspace would be implemented. Thanks for considering, Johannes
  9. I was wondering if a dimension tool is in the works for Designer. Something that designers/architects can use to label and indicate dimensions on drawings. For example, features such as CADTools ( a plug-in for illustrator), or the dimension tools in iDraw. I think such a tool will be a fantastic addition because I'm an architect and I think all designers of physical objects will probably appreciate it. But overall, I was wondering if such a tool was part of the planned future features roadmap. Best, Jawad Altabtabai
  10. The Crop Tool freezes if my laptop is put in to 'sleep' mode, and then turned on again later. One has to turn Affinity off completely and turn it back on again to make it work normally. Should it? Other tools may be affected too. Chris

  12. Great to see the new features in the latest release of Designer, well done Development Team. A 'Dimensions' facility was a much talked about and requested for addition to the Designer back in 2015; search for the thread started by by tabtabai on 15th October 2015. I believe this facility should once again be brought centre stage for inclusion at the earliest possible update. Thanks.
  13. The closest I can find in the Help guide is the Pen Tool in either "Pen" Mode or "Smart" Mode, but I'm not very skilled (if anti-skilled were a thing, I'd use that) at using the Pen Tool. Is there a "pre-fabricated" tool like what Illustrator or iDraw has for those of us falling into the "Artistically Deficient" category? ;)
  14. In Lightroom there is a tool called "Radial Filter". Is there a comparable tool in Affinity Photo?
  15. Sometimes (aprox. 20% of the time) i cant choose a tool from the toolbar, its mostly the type tool, but i use it the most so i am not sure if it happens with all the other tools too. Anyway, i simply cant choose the tool, it just stays at the given tool i was before. To solve this, i have to close the project (no need to close the whole app), then i just reopen the same project and everything works normally. I attached my screenrecord of this issue on my ipad pro. CA1FEAC6-90E6-4748-AE5D-1ABA8736B5F7.MOV
  16. Looking for the equivalent of Blend IF as available in PS. If such is not available requesting it as a new feature.
  17. I have Affinity Photo on my iPad Pro. Update 1.7.1. How do I get all the photo editing options that this image shows another iPad user having?
  18. Hello everyone! This is another feature request. I'd like to request a feature that lets users of Designer and Photo use tools in a straight way when holding shift. For example, when I want to draw a straight line, holding down shift should draw a line between starting point and current cursor location. This behaviour should be added to other tools as well. If I want to use the "Smudge Brush Tool" or the "Inpainting Brush Tool" in a straight way, there is currently no way of doing so that I'm aware of. Adding shift + alt for snapping to multiples of 45° between starting point and current cursor location could be very useful as well. Also, I do know about left clicking using the "Paint Brush Tool", then holding shift and clicking at the end point to get a straight line. But this behaviour is limited to that tool and you don't get a live preview of the line or snapping to multiples of 90° or 45°. The "Free hand Selection Tool" includes a similar feature to the one that I just requested. The difference is that the existing feature doesn't use the cursor location when left mouse clicking for its starting point, but rather the cursor location when starting to hold shift. This does make sense for that specific tool, but I think other tools would benefit from a set starting point at the time when mouse left is clicked. And that existing feature doesn't seem to have any snapping options either, which could be useful sometimes. Best wishes, Shu
  19. Hello, As I gradually wade into the new features one by one, I noticed a few odd things. 1- I can get the point transform tool by pressing "F" but I can't see that particular tool as an icon in the tools panels. Also, is the point transform tool supposed to accept the power duplicate function? I tried, and it's not working. 2- When I try to use the transform node function (see screenshots) it seems I'm not able to see the transform box. I think I have deselected "hide box when dragging", just in case, but none of the transform handles are showing, and I can't use the transform panel either. It seems that I don't undestand how it works (the Help file id quite obscure) I have no doubts that I will fins a few other things I don't understand Thanks!
  20. Hi guys, I want to bring a really nice suggestion that can be really time saver while dealing with "switching things" or anything like that, we can bring the most favorite brushes/tools in our right click, like a radial or square menu, I think this gonna save a lot of time for us that work professionally, please just let me know if this can be possible to have on future versions coming soon I'm glad to know that I'm almost 100% working with Affinity Designer , I want to quit from adobe monopoly asap regards, Jhonatan
  21. My desktop version is missing tools beyond the rectangle tool. How do I get that fixed?
  22. I was curious to know if there are any hopes that down the road a python or some sort of scripting API will be available for Affinity Applications like Designer/Photo. Working in the film/vfx/games industry for over 10 years now, one of the biggest headaches is developing pipeline tools for Adobe applications due to their constraints and poor choice of Java implementation for API. I would love to see a modern API like python supported in Affinity applications. Thanks guys, keep up the great work!
  23. I'm very excited for Affinity Publisher. I do have one suggestion. I primarily work on comic books. All comics are drawn on front and back of a single page. Is there a way to integrate that easily? Like a button to push to flip the current page over and draw/place image on the backside and still be editable if need be? Thanks, Marty
  24. Dear all, I need to clone from a static source point with the clone tool in photo. In other words I want the source point to remain fixed where it was originally set instead of following the clone tools movement with a fixed distance while hovering over the target area. From what I understood from the docs, this behavior can be achieved by unchecking the “aligned” checkbox but this doesn’t work for me (actually checking or unchecking the box doesn’t seem to change the tools behavior at all. Bug or feature or my fault - don’t know). Is that possible? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
  25. Is there a short cut / shortcut key for quickly cloning the color of one object to another? For example, I have a square that is purple and a circle that is orange. I select the circle and would like to sample the color from the square to turn it purple. The only way I can seemingly do it is to select and drag the eyedropper tool (from the color palette), then sample the color from the square. Then I need to select my circle then click the colored sample from the eyedropper in the palette to change it's color. Basically, I'm looking for the exact same function that illustrator provides when sampling / cloning colors and I have to assume Affinity Designer would not make it a three step process when it could be one. In illustrator you can quickly shortcut key to the Eyedropper tool and it changes the current objects color to anyone that you sample. Thanks everyone!
