  1. In most places in Publisher the amount of opacity is shown as a percentage except for one. When changing the opacity of a fill in a text frame there's a slider but no place (as far as I can see) to view the actual percentage of the opacity. I find this very frustrating and makes for inconsistent values when adjusting the opacity of fills in text frames. If this is a missing feature, please add it in the next upgrade!!!
  2. After watching the tutorial about the Frame Text tool, I tried adding a fill and/or colored stroke to an existing text frame. I wanted to exactly match a specific color, so I clicked on the eyedropper in the Text Frame tool panel on the right side of the workspace as was shown in the video. Instead of getting the eyedropper, the color was set to black. Moving the cursor out over the document did not provide an eyedropper. I had the same result whether attempting to use it for frame fill or frame stroke. I'm using MacOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) and version 1.7.1 of Publsher. Is this a known issue?
  3. Reusing styled text frames My proposal: Let paste any text to existing structure of frames with styled text and retain its properties (fonts, size, colour etc. - simply styles). Divider for next style would be 'End of Paragraph'. My reason: In newspaper type of work you deal with multiple articles utilizing identical structure. Everyone of them has same style of title, subtitle, perex and then paragraphs of text. Drawing text frames and styling texts for these again and again on every page and in every new issue is painful. Best way to implement: Drag 'n' drop text file (word, rtf, plain text file, etc.) to existing styled TextFrame/TextFrames. It'd be fastest way probably. How it's done in Indesign: With use of 'Object Styles' you can format whole article with one click. Of course, function 'Span columns' is integral with this task in Indesign, so you're good with just one text frame for article. My proposal is not fully equivalent but would be great help for time being.
  4. Could someone tell me how I unlink or turn off the flow between text frames? I thought it would be obvious , but can't find a way, nor do I see anything in the help pages or support videos. Cheers, Hal.
  5. AF Pub: v 1.7.0.257 Mac OS X: 10.13.6 Steps to recreate Create a blank document. Add 9 pages. On page 1, create a text frame. On each subsequent page create a text frame by copying and pasting the text frame from a previous page. On one page, copy and paste the text frame twice so that you have two frames on the page. Select one of the frames to move or remove it and the crash occurs. AF Pub Crash log file
  6. It won't allow me to link text frames to auto flow. It shows a red eye next to the area as well, instead of blue like the tutorial shows.
  7. Hi, I'm using latest version (1.7.0.283). I created A5 doc (landscape spread, upright pages), with Master Page A for Front and back cover + Master page B for all other pages. On Master B I inserted text frames containing 2 columns on each page. In a document page to which I had assigned Master B, I instead text, copied from a PDF file, into the left-hand column. The text flowed halfway down the page then... continued flowing into the right hand column! I noticed that the text though was 'balanced' over its depth. I tried deleting the space to the left of the top line of text in the right hand column - meaning to delete any hidden formatting which may have caused the text to flow into the next column. However, it only caused the bottom line of left hand text to flow into the right hand column. Inspection of the text frames revealed a 'Balance' function that was ticked, which I unticked - but there was no change. I cannot find a way with Affinity Publisher to display any text formatting commands (i.e. as in MS-Word) so cannot be sure there isn't some hidden command causing the text to flow into the adjoining column before reaching the bottom of the column. Anyone any ideas?
  8. I have created a text frame and filled it. I now wish to duplicate that frame several times and position each frame accurately on the same page but can find nothing at the moment in the tutorials or forum which answers this. Also, very simple one, how do I select a frame to post it as an asset and if I do so does it also contain the text already within it when added?
  9. I have a long text document in linked text frames. I have added figures I want to number and caption and be able to list in a Table/List of Figures. I want to group the captions with the Figures, and wrap the original continuous text around these groups of (figure(s) + caption(s). Attempts to add a Text box or frame for the caption breaks the continuous text, adding the caption content to the original text. How do I achieve my desired result? I guess I mean a box of editable unrelated text within existing text, that will travel with (or be grouped with) its image, not the original text. I seem to be missing something I should be doing.
  10. It's a tremendous step forward to have text frames in master pages. However, I would prefer a finer control of each text frame in master pages. Instead of switching to the page view to change their behaviour (Edit Detached, Edit Linked, Edit Frame Content, Lock) I would prefer to set these options on an individual text frame on master pages. These controls, in fact, could/should be moved to the Text Frame Studio. This would allow us to have finer control over each text frame. When designing Master pages we more or less know which frames can be locked, linked or detached, etc. This would afford us great flexibility and mimic QXP or inDesign behaviour or something in between.
  11. Paragraph text frames apply decorations to text within a text frame. Is there a way to add decorations to the entire width or height of a text frame? Version 1.70.206
  12. I've been editing a document, and have margined specific places on odd and even places for the text frames... But if I delete one page, all the text frames on the pages after that get moved to different areas on the screen. (I assume to where they were on their original pages) For example, I have two facing pages, and the text frames are not placed exactly in the center of the pages. When I delete one page, all the text frames just move over to the previous page, but in the same places they were on the other page (not where I would like them to be). They are flowing text frames. How else could I delete a page or move a flowing text from one page to the previous without losing the specific position of the text frame? (Example Below) Publisher 2.mov
  13. Really need interactive PDFs where the TOC creates links to pages. Also links in text, links from images and objects. Links should include pages, web and email. Also links should be able to be set up on master pages. The PDF should be adjustable for quality and with the option to display full page. Security for all types of PDF would be welcome. And as I am talking about PDFs can I point out that if producing a spread as a PDF, images created in Affinity Designer just display as frames. No problem with PDF of pages. And, could text frames have corner selection the same as shapes and image frames and it would be nice if the fill of text frames could be adjustable for transparency as well as tint. After a long wait Publisher has arrived with far more in the way of features than I had expected.
  14. So far I have seen only two bugs. Some times it's not possible to select text in a text frame. I have to change to another tool and go back to the text frame, then it works fine again. And the issue with margins in Masterpages, covered in other threads. I love to work in Publisher and will definitely buy it when released.
  15. Hello, just a suggestion – it would be great to somehow indicate that the text overflows the text frame especially when the "eye" icon is enabled to hide the overflowing text. For example make the "eye" icon red when there is more text that is hidden. This can be useful as I don't need to double check if all lines fit into text frames. Thanks! Petr
  16. Is there a way to toggle on/off to display the text frame?
  17. I'm told that in Windows AD, when an object is converted to a text frame, Fill & Stroke properties are discarded. To place text in a converted object with Stroke & Fill properties it is necessary to copy the object before conversion. Not a major issue, but it would be nice if the properties were maintained with zero Stroke width and no Fill being special cases (just as 0 (zero) is a special case on the arithmetic scale (... -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3 ...) )
  18. Hi There! Congratulations for making one of the greatest graphic design software in the market. Recently i had the pleasure to discover the clever way you implemented art boards on affinity designer. Combined with the export and grid capabilities of the software it makes the app a great publishing tool. A few things are missing though to make it a fully pleasant tool to work with. I saw text styles are on the road map. I would add the ability to link text frames so a text imported in a frame can overflow to another chosen frame. When dealing with large amounts of text across multiple columns, these could really change one's life. THx for paying attention, k.
