  1. The swatches panel freezes and becomes unresponsive when adding a new global color from a new document. The issue is resolved after quitting and restarting the application. Let me know if you need any more info to replicate and fix this issue. Thanks.
  2. Just answered a post and considered a few additions to the swatches panel. When right-clicking on a colour fill swatch you have the option to Make Global effectively changing a fill colour to a global colour, but, once a colour has been converted to a global colour, that global colour should have its own context menu that would include... Make Global Spot Make Global Overprint Revert Global (this would revert the colour swatch back to a global fill that can be used to change colours within a document en masse)
  3. Hello DEVs First off, thanks again for great software, I've been sending ~250 portraits through it since I bought it, and I love how the application just simply replaced Photoshop Over to my "needs".. I really need some features from PS days, and I hope you guys see why. "Apply Image" in Affinity Photo is not alike PS CC's version of it. I used to use this often to grab an RGB, R, G or B. CMYK or C, M, Y, K or even LAB L, A or B from a layer, a document or a file on the disk, then "apply" it as a mask - inverted or not - on to the selected mask, usually in normal or luminosity mode. I even use it for blending K channel from a dublicate CMYK document in to actual documents RGB composite to enhance faint details which is almost lost. I also use it to mix one of the RGB channels from same document in to the worst channel to enhance the details and remove noise (usually B channel), its called luminosity blending, check out Lee Varis and Dan Margulis photoshop videos. I don't see this is possible in Affinity Photo with the current "apply image", and I wish I had the same blending options in it like default layers so it will be easy to fix a "bad" channel in a image Check video below in this post. I also wish I could set one of the info readouts to a default readout, LAB for example, because I use this more often than RGB or anything else. Left side could be document format. I can change to LAB right now, but it doesnt stick to next image. I love to be able to save my own defaults than white and gra. Every single time I use this I have to go and manually set left one to black and right to white anyway because I rarly use this on other things than masks. It is really annoying After pushing through those 250 portraits since I bought Affinity, I'm really getting tired to recheck "current and below", I never retouch on background or main pixel layers and wouldn't suggest anyone to do it either. Make a new layer then use the healing brush with "current and below" is the safest way to use it anyway, so could it be possible to have persistent settings on these as-well? Check next 5 minutes to see what I mean of luminosity blending: Thats all for now Best regards, Aleksander
  4. I am using v1.7.0.192 on mac and it has added a bunch of same colors into the swatch. I cannot delete these colors. What to do? I do not want to delete the entire pallet, just a few colors.
  5. In the list view of the swatches pane any new swatch gets an auto-name with its defined values. Unfortunately these names don't auto-change when the color definition got changed by the user. This results in wrong swatch names, both for global and non-global swatches. To avoid wrong names the user has to rename any swatch manually after changing its color. To fix the name it needs several clicks to the manual renaming option window. Suggestions: – auto-change a swatch name when its color definition got changed – enable renaming on double-click the swatch name p.s.: in the actual renaming option window a hint appears: "This is not an undoable operation." – Why does it warn me that I can undo this operation?
  6. Hi I was wondering if there was any consideration of including object level overprint selection in the near future? I recently had to do some tricky overprint settings for a packaging project, and in the end I had to make copies of pantone colors one overprinted the other not and then apply the colors to the objects as requited.. unlike illustrator where you can set all the elements to the spot color then just apply overprint to the relevant elements, I hope that made sense. Cheers
  7. It would be cool to have certain user settings (mainly custom color palettes & swatches) sync between the entire Affinity suite once released. It would save me hours in duplicating colors in each application ;)
  8. Hi guys, I have created a color gradient in a layer fx (see image) - now I want to copy that gradient somehow or ideally make it a swatch/global gradient. But I don't see how. Thanks in advance, Stefan.
  9. Hi, I just noticed the following: I have several objects composited in a layer ... and I if I use my swatches in a layer fx (color overlay) to tint all objects at the same time I can choose my desired color swatch and it works fine. BUT if I change the color value of that swatch (double click on the swatch in the swatches panel) it does not influence the color used in the layer fx. If I check the color used on the layer fx, it still has the "old" values. I hope this will be fixed soon, Stefan.

    Traditional Filter Swatch

Here's a set of traditional lens filters turned into a swatch. Includes solid colours and gradients. Hex values for colours taken from here: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/26765086 Installation: Click on Swatches (in tab next to Colour panel) Click on little box with lines in top right corner. Click Import Palette, then Application Palette, then find the file you have downloaded. Typical usage: Add new pixel layer (Layer/New Layer) Click on Swatches (in tab next to Colour panel) Click on drop-down and select Traditional Filters Click on desired colour filter (hover over colours to see the name) If you clicked on a gradient, click on Gradient tool in left hand toolbar and drag over image to paint in gradient. Reduce layer Opacity (often to fairly low) Optionally set Blend Mode (typically to Overlay) To limit the extent of the filter, add a mask to the pixel layer (Layer/New Mask Layer) and paint out unwanted area with black. To save file size with solid colours, you can use the Lens Filter adjustment Layer/New Adjustment Layer/Lenst Filter Adjustment. Click on Filter Colour, then top drop-down to get Swatches then second drop-down to select Traditional Filters. Click on chosen colour and adjust with Optical Density slider. To save file size with gradients, instead of using pixel layer: Select rectangle in left hand tool bar and drag to cover whole image. Grab corners and adust as needed. In top context bar, click on Fill, then Swatches, then drop-down to select Traditional Filters, then the gradient you want. Hit Esc on keyboard to dismiss drop-down. Click on Gradient tool in left hand tool menu, then click-drag to draw on image. Adjust with layer Opacity (often fairly low). Optionally set Blend Mode (typically to Overlay). 11. Seems that some swatch panels don't retain the settings of the main swatch panel (MacOS 10.13, Designer V1.5.5) i.e. the swatch panel in colour overlay in a layer effect doesn't display the search field (or list view) after it is enabled in the main swatch panel. See thread:
  12. This might be a silly question but, I noticed there's no such thing as 'Pattern Swatch' in Affinity Designer. I see that you can only save 'color' or 'gradient' swatches. Or am I wrong? I know that you can use bitmap as fill, but when I try to use a (halftone) pattern that I created, the filled image is blurry, not razor sharp. I'm still learning to use 'Affinity Designer' and so far I love it. I hope there's a way to go about creating a pattern swatch. Thanks! - Maya
  13. !!! - When setting a CMYK swatch - I update the swatch color but the label does not change, meaning I am looking at the wrong color numbers when making sure all my colors match and are ready for printing. Not good. Too time consuming to tweak the color and manually insert the color code every time. - and please, please turn off auto switching color to tint, it's EXTREMELY time consuming to reset the box every time I hit a global color.

    [ADe] Selected swatches bugs

Two bugs with swatches selections: Apply a swatch to an object, deselect all objects, swatch remains selected as if the object was still selected. Apply a swatch to an object, observe that the swatch is selected in the panel, without deselecting the object change to any other palette and then change back, the swatch will no longer be selected even though the object still is. Thanks!
  15. In the Swatches panel right click a normal or registration swatch, click the Make Copy command, nothing happens. Close/hide the Swatches panel and open it again, the new swatch will be there. Strangely the Make Copy command works perfectly with Global or Spot colours. Thanks!
  16. Hi, I am having an issue where any colour I select with the eyedropper tool or when I select a colour in any swatch, the colour that is applied will be a grey. I cannot get any colour to be applied with any tool. Selecting any colour (such as blue /red etc) will result in an equivalent shade of grey being selected. I cannot work out what I have done to make this happen! Please Help! Charles
  17. Hello, I am working on documents that contain many shades of washed out colors and sometimes it's hard to differentiate the swatches. I wished that selecting an object whose color is a swatch would highlight the swatch on the swatches panel. Thanks, Fernando
  18. With a new installation (1.5.3 trial) I experienced an issue in the GUI: After moving the applications main window to a second monitor and arranging the palettes on the MacBooks screen the color swatches pane did show both the 'Black 100%' AND the pulldown-menu above at the same position and somehow overlapping. See the attached screenshot (above the yellow pop-up-menu). Quit and re-start the application made this issue disappear. This issue occured directly after resetting the user standard prefs (in misc.) en re-starting the app because of a permanent crash caused by a windows-option. (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/29455-crash-on-mavericks-109-%E2%80%93-separated-window-mode-modularer-modus/?p=142951) thomas MacBookPro (end 2011) , OS X 10.9.5 Affinity Designer trial v. 1.5.3 (german)
  19. In choosing an object I would expect its color automatically to be seen in my list of swatches, either for stroke or for fill. This sometimes is the case in AD, but sometimes it is not, remaining on the swatch I previously used even though I have now selected a different object or text with a different color. When this happens I check to see if I have a stroke or fill chosen at the top of my swathes, but this does not appear to make a difference. This become a problem when I am selecting one object after another to see its actually color. Is this a know bug or am I missing something? I'm on a Mac running the latest beta as of Oct 29, 2016.
  20. I work principally with swatches and find it very irritating have to to be constantly switching back and forth between cloud swatches and black and white swatches. In the end I have solved this for myself by building my own custom palette with colours and greyscale on the one palette. I can see no good reason to keep these two palettes segregated and think a combined swatch palette would be a sensible option to have available as an option on the standard pre-installed swatches.
  21. Would love a way to auto import or have an option for immediately bringing in global swatches into or from an embedded image for a current working open file without having to do the whole export/import/clipboard palette workaround. Thanks!
  22. Hi, it would save a lot of time if the layer fx "gradient overlay" AND outline ("Umrandung" - see 3rd attached image) would have the same functionality as "color overlay": the ability of choosing swatches - gradients in this case. For a vice versa functionality - see also: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/25422-how-to-get-a-color-gradient-from-layer-fx-into-swatchesgradients/ Thanks for taking your time and thinking about it, Stefan.
  23. Hi, there an inconsistency in creating swatches: 1.) If you create a swatch (global or not) this will be included to history - so undo removes that swatch. 2.) Gradients are not considered in history - so undo does not remove them. Cheers, Stefan.
  24. Hi guys, I just experienced the following bug: I am working with the AD Beta since Beta 11. In one of my documents I have used several global colors (swatches). Now I realized, that "old" swatches don't work as swatches anymore. If I change their color value, nothing happens to the objects (color overlays in layer fx) they use these swatches. New swatches work fine. see the attached video Cheers, Stefan. AD_Bug_Swatches.mov
  25. Is there a way to add a Pantone swatch from the Pantone palette into the document swatches and for it to retain it's name, rather than changing to 'Global Colour x'? Specifically relevant for spot colours from the Pantone Solid Coated & Uncoated books. eg if I select 'PANTONE 205 C; and then add it to my document swatches palette it will be renamed 'Global Colour 1'. If I export a pdf then the colour swatch in the pdf will also be called 'Global Colour 1' Do I have to manually rename the colour back to it's pantone name each time? Also, if I want to change the global colour to another Pantone colour , the edit colour palette won't let me search for another colour by name or show a list. I have to guess from the swatches which is my new colour. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
