  1. From Arkshuk, [John] Rae also learned about Inuit beliefs: It is said that many years ago, not long after the creation of the world, there was a mighty conjuror (Esquimaux of course) who gained so much power that at last he raised himself up into the heavens, taking with him his sister (a beautiful girl) and a fire. To the latter he added great quantities of fuel, which thus formed the sun. For some time he and his sister lived in great harmony, but at last they disagreed, and he, in addition to maltreating the lady In many ways, at last scorched one side of her face. She had suffered patiently all sorts of indignities, but the spoiling of her beauty was not to be borne; she therefore ran away from him and formed the moon, and continues so until this day. Her brother is still in chase of her, but although he sometimes gets near, he will never overtakes her. When it is new moon, the burnt side of the face is towards us; when full moon, the reverse is the case. (Quoted in Fatal Passage, Ken McGoogan) John Rae ,FRS FRGS, (13 – 1893) was a Scottish surgeon who explored parts of northern Canada. (Wikipedia)
  2. Affinity Photo is very powerful when it comes to stacking of deep sky photos in astrophotography. Great features, great macros, great tutorials. Thank you! The Sun is very active these days and shows plenty of details in their solar spots. Is there a way in Affinity Photo to stack hundreds of TIFF or FITS images of the Sun in order to increase S/N and sharpness? Thank you for your support.
  3. Hi guys, here's a new video about how to create a fake sun in Affinity Photo. You can use this method to make your photo looks more dramatic. I hope you enjoy and learn something new from this video, thank you!
  4. Hi all, I'm Greg, and I run a game development company called Boolean Games. Always liked the Vector art style, so thought I'd give it a go myself. Initially tried Illustrator but disliked the pricing etc, currently on a trial with Affinity so far but I really like it so I'll end up buying it This is roughly the level that I'm at but the inspiration was my 2 year old daughter and a possible design for the feature wall in her newly decorated bedroom.
  5. I would like to request a similar Edit and walkthrough as this one here on youtube but for affinity for the iPad... 8. Hi folks, I took this photo of a partial solar eclipse: from my place at 8:15 am, a few years ago, half awake I was and yet somehow after getting about 27 pictures, this was one was the one that surprised me. I never saw the bird through the screen. I haven't edited it at all. Any ideas how to improve this? Does it need tweaking at all? All comments welcome. peter
