  1. Haven't found any topic on this. Is there any plans improving the Styles Panel similar to Text Style or Table formats and adding features like: - adding the option to edit the styles, - option to update the style by current selection, - ability to apply the style to selected group (only possible to apply to object but not the group), - maybe add a current document category, This would improve the linked editing capability of all shapes with the same style. For instance it would change the curve width or color of all shapes sharing the style. For instance if there are a lot of icons. Now you need to select individual icons in the publisher document and change them one by one. Thank you for any info.
  2. Dear, I'm a beginner in Affinity Publisher since this weekend (;-)) coming from InDesign. When I create new style, everything went well until suddenly a white or tab space was added after the first character of my sentence (see screenshot1). This style was created from a parent one and when i asked the difference, I just see "Character fill" (see screenshot 2) but I don't know what it means. What's the reason ? The Origin ? Can you help please?
  3. I am working on converting a daily diary entry into a book. This means I have 365 dates (the subheadings) on the document, and I want to change the style of all of them into a specific one. I know how to change the style on 1 date, and then just click on other dates one by one to change them also. But is there a way to change them in bulk? Otherwise, it's a lot of work ahead.
  4. I went back to an old book to update it. I don’t know where this ‘Character outline: none; Paragraph decorations: off’ in addition to the Normal style comes from. How can it be removed? Thank you for your explanations.
  5. I recently opened up a Publisher file to create a new version and noticed one of the fonts (Marion) was broken. I eventually got the regular version to work (I moved my fonts to my User folder instead of the main Library folder) however, it still does not recognize the italic or bold versions of this font. I tried deleting and downloading the files again, but nothing changed. I thought it was a Publisher problem, but Designer does not recognize the alternate versions either. I thought it might be a TTF vs OTF problem, so I downloaded OTF versions, but neither Affinity app sees anything but Marion Regular. I tested in TextEdit, and it sees all variations of the font. This makes me think it's an Affinity problem, not a font file problem. I'm running Publisher 2.2.0 on Mac OS 13.6. I need these alternates to work. Help!
  6. Could the style picker get a checkbox that allows you to reset (unload) the style each time you invoke the tool? I prefer to start anew, because when I activate the tool, I often need to change the style of a different object that has a different appearance. Making this a checkbox would allow people to use the current behaviour if they like/ need to. Desired tool interaction The idea here is that if you hit the hotkey assigned to the tool, or click the tool button with the tool active, it resets. When the tool is activated, but wasn't active before, it is already unloaded and ready to pick up a style.
  7. Hello. I just purchased Affinity for both my Mac and iPad. While trying to learn the program on my Mac, I encountered two problems... 1) I cannot undo certain things. Example: if I click on a Style to see how it looks, there's no way to undo the effect. It's baked into that layer permanently. I encountered this issue during a free trial of Affinity and it was my #1 reason for not buying it originally. Surely I'm overlooking something?? 2) I applied one of the default Styles (Rainbow)...and while trying to figure out how to undo it, I accidentally deleted the Style altogether. How can I get it back? Thank you for your help! -E.T. Craven
  8. Currently, it doesn't seem to be possible to edit object styles. This makes it difficult to update a lot of objects all at once. It would be great if we could double click on a style to open an editor in which the object style could be edited, duplicated and saved.
  9. I would like to use the colour picker to sample the appearance (style) from an object on the canvas, which it should apply to the objects I have selected. To me that's easier than copying objects and pasting styles. The reason for this is that I can change the selection and then switch to the eye dropper rather easily. It's a workflow many of us have been using in Illustrator and when I switched back to Illustrator after having used designer for a while, I feel like I am missing out on this in Designer.
  10. In Microsoft Word, it is possible to select all occurrences of a given format and then apply a new or different style. This is very helpful when importing text from different Word files that different formatting. I cannot find how to do this so I suspect this is a feature request. Thank you in advance.
  11. I have a large document with some 250 pictures inside Picture Frames. I have decided to change the look of all by adding a color Stroke, and a rounded corner set at 2%. Is there any way to make these hundreds of changes in "bulk" - with one command instead of doing each manually? That would save me many hours of work.
  12. How do I remove a Style from an object if I decide I don't like the effect? Is there a way, other than opening History and going back past it there? Undo does not work. A right/click on the Style button offers Rename or Delete, which sounds like it would apply to the Style itself rather than the application of.
  13. Any chance there will be a Caption feature in Publisher? Preferably one that works better than InDesign does! Essentially, you'd set up a paragraph style for photo captions, then right click an image and tell it to insert the caption (either static or live). Even more awesome would be if there was a better way to automatically say how it should line up (with the bottom edge of the caption level with the bottom edge of the photo, etc.) and to expand (up/down or sideways) to allow for the amount of text in the caption. Attaching IDs current settings for this feature, though only for clarification on what I'm talking about. :-)
  14. Is there a way to change or replace a created contour and fill style for all instances after it has been applied to many objects?
  15. One thing I have missed for a long time is the ability to copying and pasting individual Layer Effects. What I mean is that I have a set of Layer Effects which I have spent a long time tweaking saved in a Styles Group. And I have another set of Layer Effects which I've also spent a long time tweaking saved in Styles. I wish there was a way of copying some elements from one style and combining it with elements from the other style. When copying and pasting styles and effects they overwrite other styles and effects already applied to an object. Especially gradient outlines and overlays in the Layer Effects panel are a nightmare. There is no way of copying them as far as I know, and so the only solution is to make new gradients from scratch, which is enormously time consuming. It would be an enormous time saver to be able to copy, say an outline gradient from one object and an overlay gradient from another object - and of course other effects as well - on an individual, effect by effect basis. I envision an "effects palette", where you could pick for example the 3D effect settings from one object, the overlay gradient settings from a second object and the outline effects from a third object, apply them all to the object you're working on, and when you're happy with the result, maybe even be able to save the settings of this "palette" as a new style or as an "effects palette preset", where the individual settings can be tweaked further, enabled, disabled and combined with new effects picked from other objects and/or styles.
  16. Is there a way in Affinity Designer to quickly copy a text style? In Illustrator it was fairly easy to do that with the eye dropper too since that worked both as a colour picker as well as a text style picker. I just want to be able to select a text block and quickly apply the style and format of another text block. I can't seem to find a quick way in Affinity Designer. Thanks!
  17. Last night Windows 10 Pro performed another update .On starting up my computer this morning I found I had lost all the plugins brushes palettes etc I had imported into AD & AP. Then this evening while I was busy re importing everything I noticed the COGS shapes in the STYLES tab had changed into cats.. and I have no idea how or why.. Am I too tired to figure it out or what? Am I going crazy
  18. Designer 1.9.0.791 on Windows 10 2004. I searched in the “Designer Bugs found on Windows” and “Designer Beta on Windows“ forums for “paste style” (without the quotes) but couldn’t find this as being reported. In version 1.8.5.703, I can copy the style of a layer and then paste it onto another layer using Paste Style and all is okay. However, in 1.9.0.791, when I use Paste Style the Stroke formatting is not applied. See attached video where the first half is what I expect in the current commercial release and the second half is what I get in the latest beta. 2020-10-19_12-48-18.mp4
  19. Hi We publish a monthly magazine using Affinity and it is produced by different compilers each month. I receive this to put it online but when I download all the titles are showing with a different one specified by the style that has been applied. (See attachments) I need to go into each text block and apply the style again. My question is there anyway to get the document to autoupdate itself so that it applies the styles properly rather than going into each box an reapplying what it should be showing? Thanks. (I did loook to see if this problem had come up before but couldn't find anything)
  20. The features can edit what we need with any size
  21. Hi, while working with text in Designer I created a style. Then while working with text using a different font and size I applied the style. To my surprise this added the style but changed the font and font size to the original style. Is there a setting I am missing as I extensively use styles in Photoshop because using 'scale with object' switched off does not work. Transfering the document to Photo together with the style, the style does not create the same changes. I love the Affinity products especially being able to try changes 'on the fly' but find little things frustrating. Can Serif get to version 2.0 so people have to re-purchase/upgrade the product so you can recruite extra staff to get rid of the niggles.
  22. When defining custom object styles, AFD lets me create new ones only when I delete existing styles. For example, I defined a line style for a dashed line. If I also want to define a line style with a solid line, the 'Add Style from Selection' action does not work. Same goes for fill styles. In general, I would also expect there to be an 'update style from selection' item, which there apparently isn't, which should affect all objects a particular style was applied to, similar to global colors.
  23. Hi Folks, I'm after some help again.... So I really admire two very very good automotive photographers... Amy Shore and Laurent Nivalle. Both have a similar(ish) style and this extends to their editing process. I have read numerous interviews with both of them and they both mainly use Photoshop (Sorry to swear!) rather than lightroom and I am very keen to try and re-caprture their respective styles but by using Affinity Photo. I have attached two files which are photos from both Laurent and Amy respectively. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction to try and obtain the same style? Obviously I don't want to be copying their styles out right as that is not what photography is all about but I am very curious as to how to achieve this. Thanks folks, hope you can help. Regards Mark All credit for the attached two images go to Amy and Laurent.
  24. Would be nice if you could add an option to sync style(font and size) between a text object and belonging inline text objects.
  25. Would be nice if you cloud add Pencil style preset feature that can save and switch stroke style quickly like vector brush.
