  1. Hello, How can I make the artboard snap to the keypoint on the grid ? Please see the video attached. Thank you, Hossein artboard-snap.mp4
  2. I am rotating this shape(both a rectangles) and I would like it to snap so that the one rectangle is exactly perpendicular to the other rectangle Affinity Snap Perpendicular.mp4
  3. Hello everyone, as an example, I couldn't get the bottom corner to align with the snap to the yellow line. What's wrong? Tried with all the snaps activated. Thank you
  4. Hi, Is there a way to snap handles in Affinity Designer? I can snap nodes and objects just fine, but when dragging a curve handle, I can't seem to find a way to snap the handle. Thanks, Joona
  5. Morning, Am I missing something here, or can I not snap slices to the grid?! I have created a slice, turned snap to grid on, and now am trying to conform that slice to the grid, but it's no snappy. Pretty much all snap options are on, but I just can't snap it! Cheers Wayne
  6. Is there a way to use certain angle to snap on rotate other than every 15 degrees? only three axis can be used on Grid and Snapping Axis setting so this can't be used.
  7. Tangential snap, e.g. in Designer becomes a game of patience and the result is everything else, but not tangential. There are already a lot of snap functions but they don't help when, for example, two different circles have to be connected tangentially by a line. It would be a very helpful addition to the already existing snap functions to add tangent, quadrant and parallel snap. Finally, these belong to the basic geometric constructions. tangential_snap_00.mp4
  8. If the displayed grid axis doesn't match with the artboard 0,0 coordinates, so the snapping helper doesn't match with the displayed grid, but with some invisible grid supposedly matching the artboard 0,0 coord. Attached files will illustrate the issue better. Original topic created here, but I'm considering a bug:
  9. Is there an easy way to center an image to the center of an artboard? I like to center it vertical and horizontal. I expected some aligning/snapping settings to apply. But that doesn't seem to do that. I've setup a document, type web. The image is inserted using File > Place.
  10. Hey everyone! Is there possible to increase speed of snapping? This slow appearing of snapping lines is very annoying. I use Affinity Designer latest version 1.7.3 for Windows. Thank you!
  11. edit: Affinity Designer on Desktop (Windows) /edited The objects are snapping, but with an offset in relation of the real grid. Attached image will illustrate it better. I tested with new documents it works fine, but in the current one which I'm working with, it has broke. There is someway to reset it? I'm working with multiple artboards, if it is relevant. I could find this case on the forum, Thanks
  12. Hi, I am trying to fix my portfolio, I am placing images by using the align tool and snapping. Sharing the edges of my images between each other. When I open it in PS I can see a thin line between images of "no color". Is this related to AD or to my images? Thanksa lot.
  13. With photo version 1.7.2 (Windows), dialog boxes for adjustment layers open in the lower right corner of the image area. However, if I attempt to move them, they snap to the very top of the screen. When I attempt to move them from this position, they immediately snap back to the top of the screen. However, if I move them to a separate monitor, they stay where I move them. The same is true for live filter dialogs.
  14. I cannot figure out how to COMPLETELY turn snapping of for the Polygonal Lasso tool. It's difficult to describe so I've included images. Basically, if I turn all snapping off in Photoshop I can Lasso select between pixels which is truly free selecting. When I try this in Affinity Photo it snaps by pixel, there is no "between the pixels". Please refer to the images to see what I'm trying to say. I need Affinity to stop snapping to pixels and let me select the way Photoshop does.
  15. How do I snap a node to a node? It does not snap when it's inside the bounding box
  16. make a text character say 48pt make sure the text has fill make the grid spacing 128 division 1 ensure snap is on move text around observe mid points of text bounding box will snap to grid. remove fill from character make the outline stroke 2 pt thick to visualise. move the character around observe bounding box mid points will not snap to grid Expected behaviour = mid points bounding box of text should snap to grid regardless of text filled or not. (sometime just want text with outline)
  17. -PREAMBLE- I'm still not very happy about affinity's alt-dragging behaviour, where you have to decide BEFORE pressing the mouse, if you want to duplicate. From ID or AI I'm used to drag, and then think of all the modifier-keys to hold... But what's very annoying is that things don't snap to my guides anymore, while in alt-dragging mode. This has to be a bug, i'm sure!
  18. This is something I have noticed in plenty of software over the years, but I'm posting here because I'm currently having this issue with Affinity Designer (desktop). See attached image at full resolution for an example. I am making a lot of tiled patterns that need to connect seamlessly. I create them with a grid and am careful to snap my points to the grid perfectly. The coordinates in the info panel confirm this. Yet my shapes do not always join and I can see the background between the hairline gaps that should not exist. Why does this happen and is there anything I can do to fix it? (I have been moving my points to ensure they overlap in the final product, but I consider this a hack; if I want to continue working on a pattern I then have to snap all of the points back into place manually.) Notes: As you can see in my attachment, sometimes the shapes DO connect seamlessly. There doesn't seem to be any reason why some places have the gap and others don't. This isn't a factor of zooming. I can zoom right out and still see the hairline gaps. This isn't just a AD display issue. I am exporting these as raster files and the gaps are still there in the finished product. Another side effect of this is when I Boolean join my shapes, they often don't add together nicely. This is actually really annoying.
  19. Hi there! This is my second attempt to Affinity Designer and I can't find the way to make the handels of a curve to snap to the grid. Is there any way? And a second question: how do I change the size of grid. If I zoom in the grid grows, but couldn't find the panel to change the grid, if there is one. Thanks in advance Iván
  20. Please see attached file. The rotation snap (drag while holding shift) is erroneous. I created a right-angled triangle (red in the attached file) with the catheter lenghts 1 and 2 respectively. This gives offcourse 30 degree [sin (1/2)] angle in the top of the triangle. But, if I rotate some thing (blue rectangle in the attached file) while holding down shift key (i.e. two 15 degree snaps) the angle is about 33.5 degrees and not 30 degrees. This is a major bug that needs to be resolved quickly. I have the latest designer version, running windows 10. This bug is propably also present in the photo (and upcoming Publisher) versions? /Mattias Affinity-bug.afdesign
  21. I don't understand why affinity leaves ultrathin white lines between snapped objects. I don't know if this is an option or a bug, they are visable at every level of zoom... Does anyone have experience with this? Here's a picture:
  22. Publisher 1.7.0.145 Launch Publisher Create a new document from the default settings Baseline Grid Manager > enable Use Baseline Grid Snapping Manager > enable Snap to baseline grid Save your blank document Quit Publisher Reopen Publisher by double-clicking the test document saved a moment ago The Snap to baseline grid option has been turned back off, although the other settings remain as they were previously. It doesn't seem to matter if you use View > Snapping Manager, or the Snapping controller in the toolbar across the top of the workspace.
  23. Hi, Is there a way to make bezier handles snap to 45 or 90 degrees? Most apps allow for this by holding down shift, but shift behaved differently in Affinity Designer, snapping to the existing curve. The only workaround i've found so far is to use the pen tool to redraw the bezier curve by clicking and dragging on the same point while holding shift. Is there another way to do this? Thanks.
  24. I have some kind of zoom/redraw bug in both Affinity Designer 1.6.5.123 and Affinity Photo 1.6.5.123. In Designer, I can create a new document A4, 300ppi. Draw a rectangle shape filled with black, and stretch it in all directions so that it snaps to the document bounds. Now if I zoom in and out with the scroll wheel, at various zoom levels the rectangle appears as if it does not quite meet the document bounds on random edges. For example the top and left sides appear to have a 1 pixel gap and are white or show the transparancy grid beneath. If I change the zoom level the edges with the 'gap' will sometimes be on the bottom or right and back to top and left. I have tried toggleing snap and pixel alignment on/off but it makes no difference. Also when I dragged the edges of the rectangle to snap to the document bounds, the green//red lines appeared, indicating that it was snapping to the document edges. A very similar problem exists in Affinity Photo - this time with a new blank canvas, choose File > Place. Select a relatively high resolution photo and drop it in the middle of the canvas. Now drag the edges and snap them to the document bounds. When I zoom in and out the "1 pixel" white/transparant edge randomly appears on various edges of the canvas at various zoom levels. Even at 100%. It makes it difficult to know if there is actually a 'gap' or not. In the screenshot below (Designer) you should be able to see the white 1 pixel 'gap' i am talking about. In the one below that (Photo) you can see the transparancy grid along the top edge. If I zoom in the gap is not there, but might be on the left edge instead. I have tried turning off the graphics card as the default renderer in Preferences > Performance. The only other option is WARP but it has the same problem.
