  1. Is there a way to use certain angle to snap on rotate other than every 15 degrees? only three axis can be used on Grid and Snapping Axis setting so this can't be used.
  2. Would be nice if I could snap Marquee and Crop tool to objects but only guides and the edge on canvas. This makes cropping/filling/deleting easier along object edge.
  3. Morning, Am I missing something here, or can I not snap slices to the grid?! I have created a slice, turned snap to grid on, and now am trying to conform that slice to the grid, but it's no snappy. Pretty much all snap options are on, but I just can't snap it! Cheers Wayne
  4. Hello everybody, before I start to decribe my problem I want to say thanks, that it is possible at all to work with such precision, it does really make a difference to the quality of the work I produce and it's exactly the reason why I switched to working with the Affinity Apps! Now here's the problem: I am currently working with a high-precision document where the decimal places for unit types are set to level 6. In this document I have created a rectangular grid, which is also finely calculated with 6 decimal places. If I now want to align objects to this grid, I run into a problem with the rendering of the grid. The objects do not snap in the middle of the grid line, but somewhere on the side of the line. However, this becomes visible only at an extreme magnification. The problem is, if I place objects with the size of a grid unit directly underneath each other, at some point they will no longer lie on the grid, because this minimal shift causes the objects to protrude further and further beyond the grid lines. On top of that some other questions arise. When I zoom to the maximum magnification everywitng I created turns white but what I believe to be the actual grid line (I did not create any guide lines) becomes visible in blue (however this is only true for the vertical grid line). Yet it is not possible to align objecty perfectly with this grid line either. And as you can see the grid lines don't have the same width. This is not really an issue if the objects snap correctly but it looks like it could be related to this problem. In used Metal as a render engine. I also tried OpenGL, but the problem was not solved. I attached some screenshots (sorry for the ugly colored text) and a demo file so you can recreate the problem. So that leaves me with the question, is there anything I can do? If not it would be very important for me to have this problem fixed, since my work depends on this. Thanks in advance. 5. I'm working in Affinity Designer and I'm having some trouble with snapping the edges of an artboard to objects, and I'm not sure that artboards are designed for what I need to do. Below, I have a logo and shapes used for x-heights. I can adjust the artboard, but I can't find a way for the artboard to snap to the objects inside of it so that I can have the artboard sized to exactly where I need.. Here are my snapping settings: Am I using artboards wrong, or is there a setting I'm not seeing? Thanks!
  6. Hello, I have a problem with perfect snapping with an isometric grid. As you can see in the first picture, it doesnt snap perfectly. My settings are in pictures 2 and 3. It also doesnt work with the option "force pixel alignment" toggled off 😞 Can anybody help me please? Greetings Fabian
  7. Hello, How can I make the artboard snap to the keypoint on the grid ? Please see the video attached. Thank you, Hossein artboard-snap.mp4
  8. I am rotating this shape(both a rectangles) and I would like it to snap so that the one rectangle is exactly perpendicular to the other rectangle Affinity Snap Perpendicular.mp4
  9. Hello everyone, as an example, I couldn't get the bottom corner to align with the snap to the yellow line. What's wrong? Tried with all the snaps activated. Thank you
  10. Hi, Is there a way to snap handles in Affinity Designer? I can snap nodes and objects just fine, but when dragging a curve handle, I can't seem to find a way to snap the handle. Thanks, Joona
  11. Tangential snap, e.g. in Designer becomes a game of patience and the result is everything else, but not tangential. There are already a lot of snap functions but they don't help when, for example, two different circles have to be connected tangentially by a line. It would be a very helpful addition to the already existing snap functions to add tangent, quadrant and parallel snap. Finally, these belong to the basic geometric constructions. tangential_snap_00.mp4
  12. If the displayed grid axis doesn't match with the artboard 0,0 coordinates, so the snapping helper doesn't match with the displayed grid, but with some invisible grid supposedly matching the artboard 0,0 coord. Attached files will illustrate the issue better. Original topic created here, but I'm considering a bug:
  13. Is there an easy way to center an image to the center of an artboard? I like to center it vertical and horizontal. I expected some aligning/snapping settings to apply. But that doesn't seem to do that. I've setup a document, type web. The image is inserted using File > Place.
  14. Hey everyone! Is there possible to increase speed of snapping? This slow appearing of snapping lines is very annoying. I use Affinity Designer latest version 1.7.3 for Windows. Thank you!
  15. edit: Affinity Designer on Desktop (Windows) /edited The objects are snapping, but with an offset in relation of the real grid. Attached image will illustrate it better. I tested with new documents it works fine, but in the current one which I'm working with, it has broke. There is someway to reset it? I'm working with multiple artboards, if it is relevant. I could find this case on the forum, Thanks
  16. Hi, I am trying to fix my portfolio, I am placing images by using the align tool and snapping. Sharing the edges of my images between each other. When I open it in PS I can see a thin line between images of "no color". Is this related to AD or to my images? Thanksa lot.
  17. With photo version 1.7.2 (Windows), dialog boxes for adjustment layers open in the lower right corner of the image area. However, if I attempt to move them, they snap to the very top of the screen. When I attempt to move them from this position, they immediately snap back to the top of the screen. However, if I move them to a separate monitor, they stay where I move them. The same is true for live filter dialogs.
  18. I cannot figure out how to COMPLETELY turn snapping of for the Polygonal Lasso tool. It's difficult to describe so I've included images. Basically, if I turn all snapping off in Photoshop I can Lasso select between pixels which is truly free selecting. When I try this in Affinity Photo it snaps by pixel, there is no "between the pixels". Please refer to the images to see what I'm trying to say. I need Affinity to stop snapping to pixels and let me select the way Photoshop does.
  19. How do I snap a node to a node? It does not snap when it's inside the bounding box
  20. make a text character say 48pt make sure the text has fill make the grid spacing 128 division 1 ensure snap is on move text around observe mid points of text bounding box will snap to grid. remove fill from character make the outline stroke 2 pt thick to visualise. move the character around observe bounding box mid points will not snap to grid Expected behaviour = mid points bounding box of text should snap to grid regardless of text filled or not. (sometime just want text with outline)
  21. -PREAMBLE- I'm still not very happy about affinity's alt-dragging behaviour, where you have to decide BEFORE pressing the mouse, if you want to duplicate. From ID or AI I'm used to drag, and then think of all the modifier-keys to hold... But what's very annoying is that things don't snap to my guides anymore, while in alt-dragging mode. This has to be a bug, i'm sure!
  22. This is something I have noticed in plenty of software over the years, but I'm posting here because I'm currently having this issue with Affinity Designer (desktop). See attached image at full resolution for an example. I am making a lot of tiled patterns that need to connect seamlessly. I create them with a grid and am careful to snap my points to the grid perfectly. The coordinates in the info panel confirm this. Yet my shapes do not always join and I can see the background between the hairline gaps that should not exist. Why does this happen and is there anything I can do to fix it? (I have been moving my points to ensure they overlap in the final product, but I consider this a hack; if I want to continue working on a pattern I then have to snap all of the points back into place manually.) Notes: As you can see in my attachment, sometimes the shapes DO connect seamlessly. There doesn't seem to be any reason why some places have the gap and others don't. This isn't a factor of zooming. I can zoom right out and still see the hairline gaps. This isn't just a AD display issue. I am exporting these as raster files and the gaps are still there in the finished product. Another side effect of this is when I Boolean join my shapes, they often don't add together nicely. This is actually really annoying.
  23. Hi there! This is my second attempt to Affinity Designer and I can't find the way to make the handels of a curve to snap to the grid. Is there any way? And a second question: how do I change the size of grid. If I zoom in the grid grows, but couldn't find the panel to change the grid, if there is one. Thanks in advance Iván
