  1. i have followed an AP tutorial on how to create swatches by: Create a palette from Image, Location: Application. Working on Mac with a Wacom tablet. I need them for color grading. I have created quite a few of them but not sure how I can show up in the swatch panel. The search tool does not shows them up. I can see some in a window (see enclosed screen shot) but when I try to search for them nothing happens.
  2. Aff. Publisher 1.7.2, MacOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) Not really bugs but annoying deficiencies in user interface : 1. I can find no way to keep all frame boundaries visible, making it impossible to butt one against another. (No snap on here.) 2. After detaching a master page (via ctrl-click menu), the 'Finish' button is obscured by the studio. 3. I like the listing of matches following Find but when you highlight one in that list, it really should be highly in the text also. In fact, the first instance ought to be highlit there anyway. 4. The rendering of a page still doesn't look anything like as clean as it does in InDesign, somehow. 5. I can find no way to directly kill an instance of hyphenation. 6. InDesign's 'Composer' does a better job of formatting a paragraph. Not sure exactly what it does, but it seems to juggle tracking as it lays out a paragraph, and perhaps hyphenation. I can only match it in Publisher by applying different tracking to individual sentences and words. I do NOT mean to be negative here, just helping with aspiration. Over all, I'm happy with the job Publisher does and am moving over to it (despite CS5.5 working acceptably well on High Sierra). I don't feel the need to catalogue the things it does better than InDesign. The recent MacFormat review said enough. Well done guys, but please keep at it (especially Footnotes and IDML import).
  3. I'm using the latest versions (1.7.1) of both Affinity Photo – and Affinity Publisher (1.7.1). This crash is consistently reproducible. Steps to reproduce: Open Affinity Photo 1.7.1 (or Publisher 1.7.1) Create new blank document Go to Stock panel Search Unsplash - instant crash Searching the two other Stock sources, Pexels and Pixabay, seems to be robust. OS: macOS High Sierra (10.13.6) See this 33 second video in case I'm missing anything from the description: affinity Stock crashes-Video only.mp4 No new software nor hardware installed recently that might explain this. Curiously, I tried this feature briefly on my office iMac yesterday and all three worked there. On my roughly similarly specced and configured iMac at home, there are consistent crashes when searching Unsplash in both Photo and Publisher. Today was the first time I have tried the Stock search at home. I wondered at first if I might have caused a problem when adding a rule to my 3rd-party firewall, Little Snitch. But the problem persists even when LS is stopped, so almost certainly not relevant. You can see I actually turn it off first in the video. I've attached the two most recent crash logs from Photo and Publisher for your enjoyment. Let me know if I can add anything that might help… Affinity Photo_2019-06-21-171012_iMac27.crash Affinity Publisher_2019-06-21-143220_iMac27.crash
  4. Thank you very pretty powerful search/replace feature, changing from paragraph break to line break is pretty easy. Can we add an option to limit the search to given element, instead of the whole document? I'm thinking of options: * Selection * Text element * Page * Whole document
  5. While you are rewriting the beta versions of the Affinity Suite of applications in preparation for the next retail versions, please consider: 1. Make both the desktop version and the online version of the help files searchable by keywords and key phrases. (provide a search bar in every pane of the help menu files) 2. Produce "fuzzy search" results from any of several possible terms that might be used to search for the same help topic. (ex. A search for Typography, text, verbiage and writing might yield the same search results. or, keyboard, keyboard shortcuts and keyboard customization might yield the same results. (not that these are great examples, but hopefully, you get where I am coming from)) (This way, if a user is not certain how to phrase his/her search, they could still find what they are looking for)
  6. Hi, This might have already been suggested but I could not find it. Currently if you name-search an asset using the asset search field, it will yield results from the currently selected category, searching within all the subcategory drop downs. It would be very handy to have the search work across ALL the categories. I have 17 categories each with numerous subcategories of assets, and if I type in "Folder" to the search bar I would like to see all the results across all the asset categories. Otherwise I have to repeat the search 17 times. Thanks!
  7. I've had a look on the Invision website and can only find this: https://invisioncommunity.com/4guides/how-to-use-ips-community-suite/content-discovery/searching-your-community-r70/ which isn't much use. It would be nice to have some instructions on how to search for, for example: * All posts where the body contains both the words "first" and "second" but not "third"; * All posts where the body contains "first" but not either "second" or "third"; * All posts that have "first second" - in that order, next to each other - and also "third" anywhere else in the post; * All posts that have "first second" - in that order, next to each other - but not where "third" is anywhere else in the post * All posts that have "first" in the title but not "second" in the body; * All posts that have "first" in the title and "second" or "third" in the body; etc. etc. etc. (The example words are just 'place-holders' and not actual search terms.) Obviously there are many different ways people want to search but if we had some instructions on what sort of thing we can do then it might make it easier for us to find things (and perhaps not report duplicate problems/issues).
  8. Putting focus into the assets panel search bar causes Designer to crash with a segfault. Dump is below. Can reproduce 100% of the time; restarting the application does, thankfully, restore the document so no hard feelings. Minor annoyance at worst.
  9. I am using Mac OS Mojave Version 10.14.1 to run Affinity Photo Version 1.6.7. When I open the Affinity Photo Help window and type in a search term that I know is available in the Help documents, the search usually says no results. I even watched the Affinity Photo - Accessing Help video and repeated the exact search used and still was told no results. I believe this must be a bug. I wish this feature worked correctly. Can anyone speak to this issue? Affinity Photo Help.pdf
  10. In Microsoft Word, it is possible to select all occurrences of a given format and then apply a new or different style. This is very helpful when importing text from different Word files that different formatting. I cannot find how to do this so I suspect this is a feature request. Thank you in advance.
  11. Hi. I purchased the app on Jul. 15th 2015. As I re-installed OS X, I tried to download the Affinity Photo through the App Store. However I couldn't find the app on the purchase list. So I tried to search the app, but not shown! (I'm using South Korea App Store.) As I have US Apple ID, so I tried to search with it, and I could see the app. (on US App Store.) But with Korean ID, I couldn't search it. (Not shown on the result.) However, I just found the app, by surfing 'Categories' menu, Photo section. It was so ridiculous that the app is on the App Store but can't be seen by searching. I asked this to apple support but the advisor said it's because app developer changed something. Such as, replacing the old one to newer or something which I can't understand. So I'm asking that PLEASE make the app can be searched on Korean App Store. * The first screenshot is the searching result, and the other one is app category.

  13. I recreated a document in publisher yesterday and these are the problems I found while doing it. You can turn on bleeds but they don't show up on the pages or the exported files. trimbox - does publisher have it? can’t find it and help is no good. :-/ When searching via the help function, there are so many things not showing, bleed, trimbox to name a few. when exporting a print ready pdf, crop marks has empty space between mark and end of papper, when you export for print. My printer has max page size (this includes crop area as it’s the total file dimensions it calculates from) so loosing page area to empty area around crop marks isn’t ideal. when looking at the page overview window, when looking at the pages not as spreads, it doesn’t show the first page by itself, this would be helpful as it will print like this. gives a better overview if you mean to print it. Even though I export a file as grayscale (with pictures set as gray scale, document set at gray scale and even export settings as grayscale with variations of these 3), the print ready pdf registers at my pod as having all colour pages. my computer:
  14. I'd prefer to avoide to post already existing topics. Therefore it would be very useful, to make the search option/filter "Search in This Forum" working. At least as long the UI contains issues it would help a lot in any search for "windows" not to get results relating the Windows operating system within the Mac forum.
  15. Hey guys, this is just a nitpick, but working on Mac as a graphic designer I like to optimize my spotlight to only search for image files, since all the other stuff showing up is just fluff. Problem I'm having is that Spotlight search categorizes .afdesign files as "Other" instead of "Images" - Adobe files show up as images, so im guessing there's a way for the developer to set this. Thanks!
  16. It would be great, if layers could be searched and auto-selected. This would allow to add filters for multiple layers (with the same or partial same names) in one go. Currently his can be done, but all layers have to be selected manually. Chris
  17. Hi, everybody. A very useful search functionality like layers. This speeds up the work when we do the layout. It would be cool to get one. Although I understand that this requires a lot of work.
  18. Dear Admins, Is there a way to share the search for MAC or WIN relevant results? E.g. press the Button Unread Content for MAC
  19. Quick Tips: for finding Affinity content with Google Search With a few helpful Google search engine tricks, searching the Affinity Forum via Google can be made much more effective. The Common Search In general, you should string search terms with a space together to start the context search. Thus, the input "Affinity forum gradient" or "Affinity forum macro" in the search window shows all found link entries on the screen which contain those terms. Quoting ("...") helps to search after more closely related search text here. Extended or Exclusive Search To make Google search more effective, you should use so-called operators. Here are some of them. A tilde (~) before a search term makes the term synonymous. So "Affinity ~forum" brings both the Affinity forum as well as hints for possible other related forums. With a minus sign (-) you can specifically exclude terms from the search. For example, the minus designer in "Affinity layer masks -designer" calls up a list of Affinity layer masks related entries without designer in the context. With a plus sign (+) you can instead specifically include terms to the search criterias. Search in and for Websites To specifically search a particular website/page, prefix your search term with a "site:URL" - where the URL is the web address of the site/page on which you read the info recently. For example, "site:affinity.forum.com macro recording" searches and calls for a list of threads which deal with macro recording on the Affinity forum. A minus sign in the "-site:URL" input behind the actual search terms excludes results from the named URL. So "Affinity video -site:youtube.com" will exclude all Youtube videos from the search. With "site:de" it will only search German websites with the extension .de; Of course, other endings like .org or .com etc. can also be used here. With "related:URL" you can find out if other websites have similar content. In order to browse only publications from a specific period, you must connect the adjacent years with three points: here "2014...2018" only lists publications between 2014 and 2018 in the results list. For example in order to find at affinity.forum.com current practical contributions to macro recording you would use "site:affinity.forum.com macro recording 2016...2018". Some helpful browser shortcuts To speed up the search in general, there are a few shortcuts available. For example, "Ctrl + F" will bring up a small search window at the bottom of the page that will help you to search the current page for terms. Ctrl + or - enlarges the view, zooms in or out. Ctrl + L moves the cursor back to the address bar so you can enter a new website or search term. Calculations, units of measurement and currencies The Google search engine can also calculate and convert. For those of you who struggle with mental arithmetic, just type the math questions directly into the Google search window using the +, -, * / symbols. This calls at the same time the calculator for further input of even more complicated tasks. If you want to convert units of measure or currencies, you can also type these directly into the search window. Thus, the input "inches in millimeters" picks up a unit calculator, with "pounds in euros" you get the current price displayed as well as references to various currency converters.
  20. Please could the Preferences search box also search the Keyboard Shortcuts? At present if I am trying to find an action to check / alter the Keyboard Shortcut I have to know where that shortcut resides. If I don't (and I may not even know whether a shortcut can be assigned to a given action) then I have to trawl through the whole list. Even better - filter the shortcuts by the search term to remove all the options that I don't want to see. Case in point: I'd like to find whether I can assign a shortcut to Show Rotation Centre, and have gone cross eyed looking for the option! Thanks.
  21. I can't get the search field in the Pantone palette to find anything. Anyone else have this problem?
  22. Hi, i am wondering if there's a way to search in all assets collection instead of switching from one collection to the other? Note : By the way i've notice a bug when search is active, switching to another assets collection often make AD to crash. Thanks
  23. Seems that some swatch panels don't retain the settings of the main swatch panel (MacOS 10.13, Designer V1.5.5) i.e. the swatch panel in colour overlay in a layer effect doesn't display the search field (or list view) after it is enabled in the main swatch panel. See thread:
  24. Hi, I'm writing to suggest that a search box be shown anytime a pantone swatch picker is displayed. The picker is virtually useless without the ability to type a PMS number. Surprising that it's is not shown by default, and more surprising that it's sometimes not even available as an option. Would be a welcome addition. Thanks! Cleay.
  25. I notice every time a youtuber does a tutorial on the ipad version and they go to filters, they have to scroll endlessly to find the filter needed. Could you add a search function to this if it doesn't already have one. Every time I see a video it just screams to me that there should be a search field for this. I don't own ipad version and excuse me if there is already this functionality.
