I am bewildered and am now at my wits end... maybe someone here can help shed some light on this issue. Using Photo, all was well until I updated to 2.4. Since the update I am experiencing significant screen glitches, which I can replicate 100% of the time. It does not matter if I create a new document, open an existing Affinity document, or a tiff. When opened, and the View (H) tool is selected by default, moving the tool over the image causes the screen to go black, then starts drawing a pixelated path around the screen as I move the mouse. Double clicking will sometimes restore the screen but only temporarily. Clicking V for the Move tool, corrects that issue, but the problem can reoccur at random. Troubleshooting: I deleted Photo, then downloaded a fresh dng file from the Affinity server. No difference. I updated the firmware on my BenQ monitor. No difference. Made certain macOS Sonoma screen recording.mov is up-to-date. Experimented with different settings in the Performance preferences for Display and Hardware acceleration. No difference. Curiosities: I still have Photo v1 and it operates correctly. No glitches. I have Photo 2 Beta 2.4.0, and it operates correctly. Since it does, I felt it safe to update Photo. All my other applications operate properly. I attempted to do a screen recording to demonstrate this, but when I start the screen recording, the problem does not appear. As a result, I took a video with my iPhone to demonstrate the problem Operating Enviornement Mac Studio M2 Max 32 GB macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 BenQ SW272Q monitor v7 firmware Suggestions? Is it possible that either/or Photo v1 and/or Photo 2 Beta are interfering? As it stands now, I can do my editing in Photo 2 Beta, but this issue needs to be resolved. The Issue: Some time ago, I realized that the raw photos from my Panasonic S5II will not load into Affinity Photo 2 Properly, Whenever I try and open a Raw File I get the screens below. I've also attached reference images to showcase that the pattern generated is related to the image file in some way I'm just not sure how. I've also included the raw files themselves, one being a chipmunk and the other of a building. I know there isn't a problem with my camera as I've used the free version of photoshop to verify along with Luminar Neo and the photos display perfectly fine. The only other possibility I could think of is that it's the system I'm using, as it's a work laptop with only 8GB of Ram and what I'd call *Office Grade* components. I'll have to verify with my home PC with these same files. I will update when I can. If you have any information please let me know! Thanks P1021271.RW2 P1021285.RW2

Hello, I love painting digitaly. AffinityPhoto is AWESOME alternative to photoshop for us - digital artists. The only feature we need now is built-in screen recording/stroke recording. There are tons of artists heading towards ipad apps (procreate/artstudio pro) JUST for that feature. You can say, that we can use 3rd party screen capture program but this is simply not the case. In procreate there is STROKE recorording - that means, if you took 30 min break during the painting - it won't be recorded. In procreate 10 hours of painting is compressed to like 10 mins because of that. The process of painting and posting video on yt/ig is so much easier because of that. Painting in affinity photo means that i have to record 10 hours of video, go through this in other program and cut out all the breaks from it. Also i have to be sure i didnt record anything that i didnt want to be recorded. Also, i think its THE BEST advertisement you can get. Procreate got popular, because people were posting their artworks with timelapses on youtube/instagram and others were curious what was the app. Beside that, this would be THE FIRST proffesional app for desktop with this kind of feature. It would be crazy easy to advertise that in artist community.

I see this problem on a regular but intermittent basis. When I have two (or more) documents open in Publisher or Designer and I switch between documents, the screen does not redraw correctly and leaves large areas in black. To 'fix' this, I have to scroll up or down within the document to force a screen redraw or close and reopen it. I cannot take a screen recording as I cannot deliberately replicate this as it happens randomly so I have taken a screenshot from Designer. I am using a late 2013 27" iMac with 16Gb of RAM and a 2TB SSD installed. It also happens on my 2015 MacBook Pro 15" with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD. As this does not happen in any applications other than Publisher and Designer, it leads me to believe it is an Affinity problem especially as it happens on two separate Macs. Both applications are 1.9.2 but this has also been happening in previous versions. I have also a screenshot of the Performance tab in Designer Preferences so you can see how it is set up. Publisher's preference pane is set the same.

Hi Guys, Im currently working on a name badges template for a company. The size in Affinity designer is 74mm x 24mm When I export to pdf and print it they are 70mm x 23. This is also when "fit" is turned off. Is there anything I need to change when exporting to pdf? could DPI have anything to do with it? srry Im a web guy and not a print guy :P Hope you can help. -
Is there any way to enable canvas rotation with hand gestures on the touch screen? For instance, in Photoshop, you can place two fingers on the screen and rotate them, and the canvas will rotate in that direction. I can't seem to find any setting to enable it and its very frustrating not being able to shift my canvas around freely when I'm drawing. I end up just turning my whole tablet around, which is very inconvenient.- 28 replies

Ever since the latest update I've been experiencing a notable increase in strange, brief, intermittent glitches on my iMac monitor when quitting Affinity apps. I don't experience it much when working in the apps (sometimes when merging layers), but it's definitely most notable a few seconds after I quit the apps. It seems somehow worsened when I have a browser window open (Google Chrome, Safari, or Brave). I've also experienced some screen flickers in-app when developing RAW images in Photo, especially any format other than DNG (such as the Nikon NEF format), or when working with larger files. I'm running a dual monitor setup (iMac and a graphics drawing tablet as my second monitor), and the latest version of MacOS (Mojave Version 10.14.6). It's difficult to explain, but it looks similar to glitches experiencing with failing graphics cards, but they only flash/flicker once and then disappear until I quit the apps again, where a failed graphics card would show a permanent glitched display. I initially thought this was a graphics card issue on my side (I've dealt with that before), but after some research I found that this is a known issue between certain apps and the newer MacOS. I have no idea what's causing this, but it's a bit worrying. I'm scared that I'm maxing out my graphics card, or somehow putting too much strain on it when quitting the apps or something. I've even set my Display to "GPU (Basic)", the Retina Rendering to "Low Quality", and disabled "Metal Compute Acceleration" in the Affinity preferences, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I've posted in Affinity groups on Facebook and have received confirmation from a few other users/people that they are also experiencing this when using Affinity. I just want to raise awareness of this issue by posting on here, and hopefully push for a possible fix.

Good day, I found that the preview of applying filters in develop persona is not consistent over the image, the filters being applied partially, please see the attached images. The filter is correctly applied on the exported image, the problem exists in the develop persona, when editing the image. I am using Affinity Photo 1.8.3.180. This bug does not exist on MacOS. Love Affinity Photo, keep up the good work!

As already experienced in AP and AD the Publisher sometimes has a serious issue with a permanent redraw of the screen when just MOVING the mouse (not clicking anywhere). It does not appear, when the mouse is untouched. This needless flickering drives you crazy. Sometimes it is gone when you activate other applications. For example each time I activate a screen capture program to record the effect it is gone. It occurs with an ordinary mouse as well as with my wacom tablet. Cheers,. Timo

Hello everyone, Just wanted to suggest that it may be a good idea to make a better recent document list/screen. A recent document section could be added to the already made welcome window. At the very least let the "Open Recent" list be longer than just 10 documents, I work with lots and lots of different documents in a single day so that would greatly help. I mostly use Designer but if it's implemented into the whole suite that would be fantastic. Thanks and keep up the good work! -
I use to edit my pictures on an exterior screen. Since 1.6.6 (including 1.6.7 beta 1), when I drag my photo on this screen, and try to resize it to work, I get this (see attached screen capture). When I start up Affinity Photo I now find that the background has become transparent with the photo (when loaded) in a black square in the centre and the vertical toolbar in another rectangle. The toolbar containing all the layer and brush settings is completely absent. If I pull and drag all of the different components, I can get it back to close to how I think that it should look, but if I then close it down, the next time I open the program everything is back to the first layout and I have to start sorting it out again. How do I restore the default viewing settings to something more sensible?

Hi, is possible to save a different workspace for UI ? I use sometimes mouse on my screen to draw graphic, other I use my wacom cintiq with penn, and when use it, I must put all the palette and page to the screen of cintiq. Is possible to save a workspace after positioning the palette and recall when needed? thanks! Meanwhile I go to study english.. :-)

Hello Guys, Well i have been using AD for my UI design projects and i am enjoying it so far. Some of you guys may know that there are multiple devices with multiple screen sizes. Multiple resolutions which doesn't scale up or down proportionally due to difference in aspect ratio. So how do you guys start the design? 1. Do you create an artboard with smallest version then scale up or other way around? 2. How do you export the assets with AD? (By export i meant efficient way to export multiple size) 3. How do you deal with different aspect ratio? I know that AD has good export tools where i can choose 1x, 2x for export but the aspect ratio for all screens are not same. I started a design for Iphone 5 retina display. It has an aspect ratio of 16:9. So i can use 1x, 2x asset features to scale up or down. 4. But what about android with ratio 16:10 for some device? My strategy was to design for different ratio, starting with smallest device then scale up asset during export. 5. Is this an efficient way or do you have better way? Note this question is not directly related to AD but the question general. But as i am using AD export feature so i am asking here to know if there is some efficient way that i didn't figure out. -

(Copied from the Bugs forum as I'm not sure if you're operating from there yet!) Hi, This is my first time posting a bug, so bare with me! Just purchased my Windows license. Well done guys on working so hard! Everyone's behind you :) Doing a very quick test, I notice that the image rendering pixelates temporarily while the brush is being applied to the canvas. The pixelated view also tends to happen while most editing is being applied. Even moving the cursor near an applied brush stroke causes the painting to pixelate temporarily like this. Is there something that can mitigate this? While the pixelated view is relatively minor for most tasks, it would be a real hindrance when working on a digital painting or editing photos in fine detail (i.e. a dodge & burn touch-up,etc)... Dear Affinity - Team, I was wondering if it would be possible for Serif to offer a iPad / iPhone App to use the Device as 2nd Screen for quick selection of Tools, filters, Layers or other stuff, to use the screen of the MacBook or MacBook Pro for an lager Workspace to see the photo or image the user is working on. The Connection between the devices would be via Bluetooth or the local WiFi. Best regards, mac_switch -
Hi all :-) I've got a question I hope is not to far off. My screen is calibrated to a white point of 5500. The result of that is that when my photos are shown on others screens they tend to be to cold or blue/greenish. Is there a way to fix this quickly in Affinity? Adjusting several photos at once? If I do have to adjust each photo adjusting the white balance (which is what I have to do?), does the scale compare to the difference between D-55 and D-65? I hope I have expressed myself somewhat clearly... Cheers Peter C-) -

I'm trying to create a portrait with other images showing through the image (Double Exposure Effect?) I seem to be struggling with the layer mask side of things adding in multiple textures to achieve the effect. Please can anyone assist me? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks PP

Hi Affinity Designer is an amazing tool. But still has some minor issues. At work I work with 2 screens. at home aswell, but as soon as I go from home to work or back, my tools are all wierd, takes me about 10 seconds to set all the tool windows back in the right position. now I just get sloppy and drag them all in different places. This is awkward and I cant imagine it being a hard fix. Adobe has window presets such as "essentials" and "2nd screen" I think they also save the position or something. so I never have problems with photoshop. I know its a small issue, but its just anoying to have to re-arrange everything everytime I startup Affinity designer. Cheers

Hello. I am thrilled to learn about Affinity Designer, Photo, and soon also Publisher! From the tutorials, these seem like great programs, and from what I have read, the software is of top quality that rivals or exceed Adobe graphics programs. I am very excited about Affinity! I also hear about the amazing responsiveness of Affinity to consumer needs. For instance, I hear that the cost per program is not excessive at about $50, that the programs are designed to be wholly compatible with Mac OS X El Capitan on the iMac or the new Mac Pro, that Affinity will not be going to the Cloud, and that all software updates to new program versions are free; it is bought once. I am delighted to hear this. Can it be true? Please send me an email to confirm this. Any further information would be welcome. For instance, does Serif have plans to create Affinity video editing software? I have one small concern that is important to me. I have noticed that in every Affinity screen I have seen so far, the entire on-screen area of the program is colored black, except for the actual artwork or photo. I would like the option to choose other colors than black for these areas. What other colors are now available, and if no others, will this feature be included in updates in the near future? Thank you!
