  1. Dear Affinity Support Team, I just bought Affinity Photo and am truly impressed by its functionality and ease of use. I really love the software, however I realized there is probably one minor defect in displaying images (if it can be termed that way)... My setup (SW, HW). I'm using Affinity Photo 1.6.5.135 on Windows 10 Pro, on a Lenovo ThinkPad T560 laptop with Intel i7-6600 and 16 GB RAM. I'm using the built-in computer screen along with an external screen (Eizo FlexScan EV2335W), both color-profiled using my X-Rite i1 Display Pro. The problem. Affinity Photo seems to only display colors of my pictures correctly on my built-in screen. As soon as I move the Affinity window to my other screen, the colors become slightly shifted and inaccurate. I mostly work with 16-bit TIFF images using ProPhotoRGB (ROMM RGB); and I even set the global Affinity Photo settings accordingly (Edit --> Preferences --> Colour --> ...); however, this problem shows up even if I open sRGB images. I wasn't able to iterate to a correct color representation on my external screen no matter what color profile I assigned to the document (picture). The only thing that appeared to help was to simply move the Affinity Photo window to my built-in screen. Side notes. I many times noticed that many application and even Windows itself tends to have issues with this, each in its own way. For example, mspaint.exe is always way off on any of my screens (way too dark and muted) from the point of applying color profiles to my screens, while another application I use (XnView) displays it always correctly. Capture One, DxO PhotoLab and even Adobe Photoshop also display images correctly and consistently on both screens. Also, I wasn't able to document this using screenshots, as that happens to capture the colors consistently, as they show up on my built-in monitor; however, when I compared the same file opened by Affinity Photo and XnView, the incorrect color shift on Affinity Photo was apparent (more purple-ish colors in my case). I would appreciate your advice in case I'm doing something wrong or in case I missed some important configuration options to adjust. In the mean time it would even help if I could reconfigure Windows together with Affinity Photo to use my secondary screen's ICC profile as the default one, since that one is more suited for image editing. Thank you in advance. Best regards, mk0x55
  2. Is there any way to enable canvas rotation with hand gestures on the touch screen? For instance, in Photoshop, you can place two fingers on the screen and rotate them, and the canvas will rotate in that direction. I can't seem to find any setting to enable it and its very frustrating not being able to shift my canvas around freely when I'm drawing. I end up just turning my whole tablet around, which is very inconvenient.
  3. Hey guys. Is there a screen mode like in InDesign? Can't seem to find something similar in the Affinity Publisher Beta. Thanks!

    Full screen not saved

Hey everyone! Both Photo (1.6.6) and Designer (1.6.0) don't start in full screen on macOS 10.13.2, even though they have been quit in full screen mode before. In El Capitan, both applications would remember this state. Best wishes, Shu
  6. I normally use the screen blending mode all the time for blending text on certain areas, like concrete walls etc. today I couldnt get that effect to work. switching to Screen makes my text disappear: normal: screen: I retraced my steps using this tutorial video to make sure I didnt miss anything, but the text keeps disappearing. I tried this on 2 different devices with no luck. I'm pretty sure the Screen blending mode changed since 1.6.1, as this method used to work wonderfully in the past. the affinity work file I used (text.afphoto). Did this change or am I going crazy?
  7. Hello, Bug screen : Picture is not displayed in full screen. Whether zoom or not
  8. Photo 1.5.2.69, Windows 10, Lenovo Yoga 2 13 with screen resolution 1920x1080. Clicking Layer/New Live Filter Layer/Lighting Filter produces a big dialog box which is impossible to move because the top is above the edge of the screen. The only way I can get to move it out of the way of the image is by demaximising (Restoring) the window and then moving the whole Photo window so far down that the bottom is off the screen edge.
  9. I have this when start application (Designer or Photo same thing) only got this

  11. Hello Guys, Well i have been using AD for my UI design projects and i am enjoying it so far. Some of you guys may know that there are multiple devices with multiple screen sizes. Multiple resolutions which doesn't scale up or down proportionally due to difference in aspect ratio. So how do you guys start the design? 1. Do you create an artboard with smallest version then scale up or other way around? 2. How do you export the assets with AD? (By export i meant efficient way to export multiple size) 3. How do you deal with different aspect ratio? I know that AD has good export tools where i can choose 1x, 2x for export but the aspect ratio for all screens are not same. I started a design for Iphone 5 retina display. It has an aspect ratio of 16:9. So i can use 1x, 2x asset features to scale up or down. 4. But what about android with ratio 16:10 for some device? My strategy was to design for different ratio, starting with smallest device then scale up asset during export. 5. Is this an efficient way or do you have better way? Note this question is not directly related to AD but the question general. But as i am using AD export feature so i am asking here to know if there is some efficient way that i didn't figure out.
  12. This bug is already there for a few updates. I (dis)connect monitors quite often during my work, since I have a small Wacom Cintiq for painting and a big 4K screen for detailed vector work. Every time I connect or disconnect one of them to my laptop (trough the HDMI port), something happens: 1. AF or AD crashes. Most of the time it can automatically recover my work. 2. The viewport turns black. Sometimes I can solve it by making a new document. When I close the tab of the new document, I can view my work again, but sometimes it won't. But everything works, so I can save my work and restart AD or AF. These two seem to happen at random. Very seldom, it just works. I have a first generation Macbook Pro Retina Display with NVIDIA graphics card. Maybe that has something to do with it.
  13. Do Affinity apps support multiple monitor?
  14. Dear Affinity - Team, I was wondering if it would be possible for Serif to offer a iPad / iPhone App to use the Device as 2nd Screen for quick selection of Tools, filters, Layers or other stuff, to use the screen of the MacBook or MacBook Pro for an lager Workspace to see the photo or image the user is working on. The Connection between the devices would be via Bluetooth or the local WiFi. Best regards, mac_switch
  15. Hi all :-) I've got a question I hope is not to far off. My screen is calibrated to a white point of 5500. The result of that is that when my photos are shown on others screens they tend to be to cold or blue/greenish. Is there a way to fix this quickly in Affinity? Adjusting several photos at once? If I do have to adjust each photo adjusting the white balance (which is what I have to do?), does the scale compare to the difference between D-55 and D-65? I hope I have expressed myself somewhat clearly... Cheers Peter C-)
  16. I'm trying to create a portrait with other images showing through the image (Double Exposure Effect?) I seem to be struggling with the layer mask side of things adding in multiple textures to achieve the effect. Please can anyone assist me? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks PP
  17. Hi Affinity Designer is an amazing tool. But still has some minor issues. At work I work with 2 screens. at home aswell, but as soon as I go from home to work or back, my tools are all wierd, takes me about 10 seconds to set all the tool windows back in the right position. now I just get sloppy and drag them all in different places. This is awkward and I cant imagine it being a hard fix. Adobe has window presets such as "essentials" and "2nd screen" I think they also save the position or something. so I never have problems with photoshop. I know its a small issue, but its just anoying to have to re-arrange everything everytime I startup Affinity designer. Cheers
  18. Hello. I am thrilled to learn about Affinity Designer, Photo, and soon also Publisher! From the tutorials, these seem like great programs, and from what I have read, the software is of top quality that rivals or exceed Adobe graphics programs. I am very excited about Affinity! I also hear about the amazing responsiveness of Affinity to consumer needs. For instance, I hear that the cost per program is not excessive at about $50, that the programs are designed to be wholly compatible with Mac OS X El Capitan on the iMac or the new Mac Pro, that Affinity will not be going to the Cloud, and that all software updates to new program versions are free; it is bought once. I am delighted to hear this. Can it be true? Please send me an email to confirm this. Any further information would be welcome. For instance, does Serif have plans to create Affinity video editing software? I have one small concern that is important to me. I have noticed that in every Affinity screen I have seen so far, the entire on-screen area of the program is colored black, except for the actual artwork or photo. I would like the option to choose other colors than black for these areas. What other colors are now available, and if no others, will this feature be included in updates in the near future? Thank you!
  19. Hi Guys, Im currently working on a name badges template for a company. The size in Affinity designer is 74mm x 24mm When I export to pdf and print it they are 70mm x 23. This is also when "fit" is turned off. Is there anything I need to change when exporting to pdf? could DPI have anything to do with it? srry Im a web guy and not a print guy :P Hope you can help.
  20. Under the tool bar line on the instruction videos they show various boxes, like layers, imprinting, etc How do you turn this tool bar on
  21. Hello, First of all, thanks for all the great tutorial videos, they are a great help. I have watched and tried to follow the instructions in the Displacement Tutorial. Everything worked as shown until I try to change the blend mode. In the video the blend mode is set from normal to screen and the text changes from black to white. However when I try to do this the text goes from black to clear, in other words, it disappears. I can't see that I missed any settings so whee am I going wrong ? Thanks. Joe
  22. Hello, I've been working for a few hours now on a piece and I've run into two bugs which Im worried will make me loose all my work! 1) If had two tabs open in Affinity, I went from one back to the orignial and both the images are just showing a black screen now - I can see all the layers and the picture in the navigator but just a black screen 2) Whenever I try to save it says "Save failed because access to the file was lost." and I have no idea what to do - so none of my work has been saved. PLEASE HELP!!!
