I have often used my flatbed scanner to directly create images of flat objects such as leaves, so I thought I would have a try with a slide scanner. When I retired, I was able to keep some of my computer hardware including a microscope slide holder for my Nikon LS50 slide scanner. I have been searching rather desultorily for a suitable subject to scan., The problem is that I have to first place the microscope slide in the holder, then add the subject, then a cover slip. I cannot push a loaded slide into the holder. I recently came across this subject. It was an old flower head from some composite plant with many pappuses (parachutes). I was able to detatch a few of these and immerse them in liquid and add to my slide with a coverslip. I used the top layer from a bottle of Dentyl mouthwash as a liquid medium as it wetted the pappus nicely. Post-processing comprised a bit of sharpening and a Levels adjustment. After much trial and error I managed this. It is hardly a fine photograph, more a proof of concept. I will keep hunting for a suitable subject. January is not the ideal time, but I hope to find a small skeletonized leaf. John

This is a bug report for scanning color documents into Affinity Photo on Mac. Moderator: I was registered on the legacy Serif forums, which did not automatically transfer to Affinity forums. I can reproduce when attempting color scans. (Note: Black & White, aka, gray-scale scans, however, import correctly.) Yes, this happens with a new document. Environment... OS & Version: Mac OS X Catalina (10.15.2) Expectation: Color scan will import / acquire from flatbed scanner correctly in Affinity Photo (attached: see color preview in 'Acquire Image' dialog) Actual Problem: Color scan is rendered in 'color bars' [sic] (attached: notice that the acquired Affinity Photo document renders in color bars) To Reproduce: Launch Affinity Photo on Mac, and access "Acquire Image..." from the "File" menu with a color sample loaded into the flatbed scanner; click the 'Scan' button (attached: screen capture with "Acquire Image" dialog showing the sample Screenshot attached. When attempting to open greyscale NEF photos from a Nikon Coolscan V, affinity splits the photo into 3 images, each taking up approx 1/9 of the full frame of the picture, with the rest blank space. Is there a fix or workaround to this issue? In CorelDraw I can import a bitmap (say a JPG logo which has been copied so many times that it is long past the scruffy stage) and TRACE it. This function finds the edges and creates objects from them. It approximates the colours of fills and the end result is a vector graphic which can be edited back to its original condition. Also very useful for creating vector graphics from scanned drawings. Does AD have anything like this? - I can't see any references in the Help system (which has a lovely UI!) Which reminds me that I can't find any import options from Twain or WIA sources. Does AD have anything like this? - I can't see any references in the Help system (which has a lovely UI!)

It would be good if the programme would allow the user to import directly by using a scanner.

Folks, What is missing in the Affinity PHOTO is missing feature concerning scanning photos and working on them right away… Could you add this feature in the next release of Affinity PHOTO? Thx for reply…

It would be good to be able to directly scan into Affinity Photo

Every time I need to scan a paper photo, I need to use other programs, like GIMP. I would very much like this process to be done directly in Affinity Photo. Are there plans for this?

I would like to have the ability to scan films (negatives ou slides) in Affinity Photo. The data would be converted in universal DNG format and immediately opened in Persona Develop module for processing. This would be a great addition for (semi) analog photographers. Currently I have to reboot on an external hard disk with Snow Leopard (10.6.8) to use nikonscan sofware which produces good results. But it is so slooooowwww. My scanner : Nikon LS9000ED. (English is not my native language)

Request scanning resolution be increased from the current maximum of 600dpi. This is the only feature that keeps me from migrating fully from Photoshop. My current scanner can scan pictures well above 9600dpi, but AF maximum scan resolution is only 600dpi. Smaller prints need to be scanned at a higher resolution to work effectively with them. Hi, I just downloaded the trial version of Affinity Photo to determine if it can replace Photoshop Elements (for Mac) for my purposes. I am using a photo/slide scanner to digitize and fix faded family slides, negatives, and photos that were damaged in a flood. Does Affinity Photo handle 35mm slides and negatives as well as photos? If so, how do I do it; my scanner handles slides, negatives and photos. If not, is this a feature you may be adding in the future? Thank you for any help you can provide. Katya

Is there any way to scan a photograph and import the image with Affinity Photo? I am really wanting to remove the entire Photoshop program from my MacBook Pro, but unfortunately I need it to do a Twain import from time to time via scanner. Thanks for any help. If this is not a function of Affinity Photo now, perhaps the Affinity staff might take it for action? Danny
