  1. Hello, I have encountered with several different small/tiny icons: -Eyedropper in toolbar -Switch color (in all places) -Change color to translucent (in all places) MacOS 10.15.5 (19F101) Affinity Photo 1.9.0 Note, as I understand, Eyedropper is fixed in beta, not sure how it is about the other icons. I am attaching screenshot.
  2. Zoom value (top left) still doesn't update when using zoom tool... There are still many more important bugs probably In sense of rendering graphic on retina while painting pixelmator or Ps still win. Saying that as fan I only wish this to be fixed. Looking forward, thank you! PS: Still adressing the same for quite a long time
  3. Hi all, I think I should report this really annoying bug that is still present. See screenrecording (it's not about video compression) - to me it seems like canvas is divided to many parts and the part right below cursor renders in half resolution then redraw in retina but jumps back and forward from sharp to pixelated :( Present for a long time - whenever I search in forum for GUI bugs it seems to me like this wasn't reported or at least resolved yet. Sorry if I duplicate such report... Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on iMac 27-inch 2017, Radeon Pro 580 8 GB, macOS 10.15.1 No matter if I turn Open GL instead of Metal in preferences... 4. So sad that after so long since the last release it still has bug I've reported here: Please listen to me and watch the video - even the brush cursor is raw as it was! Or is it something in Cupertino you can't fix? Or is it just on my configuration and all others use photoshop to paint on such machine? I can use it too thanks to my job but personally I want to hold on Affinity! Thank you for your effort anyway. I'm aware that this is still beta.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm using publisher with an external monitor, the main screen is a retina resolution, the external monitor is a full hd resolution. In the external monitor i used to have some panel detached form the main Publisher window, if i open the hsl color wheel panel from a fullhd monitor after giving some input on the retina monitor, the color wheel is drawed in retina sizes (@2x). 6. Hello there, I would like to know if there is any trick to avoid pixelated images from retina screens of Mac? when I am designing a banner I always have the "Retina pixel view mode" option activated but once I upload it to the web page the image looks very pixelated. Does anyone know why this happens? Thanks and greetings, Eve.
  7. Since really exploring Affinity products, I decided it's time I put my MacBook Pro aside and get something that AD and APh can really take advantage of the core features of the latest hardware. What would be your model choice, screen size, most helpful peripherals/accessories? Of course budget has to come into it, but I am more interested in the right equipment to get work out without being extravagant and wasteful. Thanks for your replies. Michael
  8. Hello, maybe I'm just doing something wrong? I have my Affinity document set up to use Pixels as units. The drawing is 580px wide exactly. I copy everything and paste it in photoshop as curves, yet it's pasted at 154px (100%). If I scale the image to make it 580px, there is some white , jagged-fraying on the edges of the curves and it looks like crap. What am I doing wrong? Why aren't the programs 1 to 1 with each other? Thanks
  9. I used to use Graphic (formally iDraw.) I liked how it used large icons for people like myself who have retina displays that make traditional UIs seem small. This option should be added under view > customize tools so that I can change the size and which tools to display at the same time.
  10. In Designer 1.5 I can't see @1x@2x @3x export options as in previous versions. Has something changed? Thank you. affinity_designer_bug.tiff
  11. I don't understand how the 1x, 2x, 3x works in AP. If I have an image that is 100 x 100 pixels and select 1x and 2x in the export, AP exports an image that is 100 x 100 and 200 x 200. By doing this it is always resampling the retina image up and ensuring that the retina image is not the highest quality. It would make much more sense to be able to specify the 1x resolution on export so that you could start with the retina size image of 200 x 200 and export the 1x sampled down to 100 x 100. The export features very much seem to be a beta concept.
  12. When i screenshot & paste image with Affinity Desinger it inserts images x2 size probably because of Retina display. I wish it insert same size i see but i can't find any settings =(
  13. Hi all, I have been a long-time user of AD and AP (since they were in betas!). I have always known AD+AP to be blazing fast. I have typically used AD+AP on my Mac Pro or my Macbook Pro. The Mac Pro was pretty much 60fps most of the time, and the Macbook Pro performed admirably, though not quite as well as the Mac Pro, understandably. I recently purchased the newest 5K iMac (the fastest processor and graphics specs available) for 2015. The performance is pretty mediocre on this device, relative to my other devices running AD+AP. In particular, scrolling is very choppy for large photos, though the marching ants have issues when there are a lot on the screen as well. I am a long-time developer so I'm fully aware of the GPU class in the iMacs, as well as the increase in pixel density, dimensions, etc., and how all of that requires better hardware to run efficiently. I was wondering if the Affinity team is preparing any updates to speed things up for the 5K iMacs? Or does the Affinity team feel they have achieved the best performance from a software standpoint, and performance gains will only be seen when the hardware improves for 5K iMacs? Cheers!
  14. I don't believe anyone has suggested this yet, but it would be fantastic if there were an option to export @2x and @3x assets in respectively labeled sub-folders. When dealing with a lot of images I generally try to keep retina assets organized for our developers for easier reference.
  15. I am creating layer-based export slices (in the Export persona, selecting a layer then clicking "Create Slice" at the bottom of the layers palette). When I export retina assets, they often do not have even-numbered pixel dimensions. This is not useful for app or game development, as the @2x graphics need to be exactly double the size of the non-retina graphics. Is there anyway to force it to export even-numbered pixel dimensions for @2x? Thanks! -Mike
  16. Hey there, first of all I would like to compliment the Affinity team for such a fantastic work on the user interface of both of the apps. They're really beautiful and feel really native and modern. A lot of little details make them a joy to work with. I have one question though, and it's related to the one thing that has bothered me a bit: I have a Retina MBP, and on both Affinity Photo and Designer, as I'm painting, moving objects around or typing, I get these "pixelated"/non-retina visuals that stay on for like half a second, before the normal "retina" graphics come back. My understanding is that this is some sort of optimization to make the interface more responsive and real time as you edit the document. Is that correct? If so, is it possible to disable this optimization entirely? I found it to be really distracting, and I'd rather have the document update be a little slower than have the whole viewport switch between retina/non-retina graphics constantly. Note: I'm currently on El Capitan Beta, so I had to install the Affinity Photo and Designer Betas. This could also be an issue with the betas/something that is not on the release versions... In that case should I report a bug? I can provide a screen capture if you can't reproduce this issue. Thanks.
  17. Hello everyone, So I'm an iOS developer, which means I need to save image for retina display. My problem here, is that if I have an image (let's say 1264 × 2248) and this is my retina size (@3x) I want this image into @2x and @1x. The thing is, if I save, it create bigger image (it consider my 1264 × 2248 as @1x) and tells me that resolution is too low for @2x; because it make bigger rather than smaller. Is there a way to do it fine ? Other than resizing each time manually, which would make Affinity Photo useless...
  18. I am trying to get the workflow down for saving images for Retina displays. In Photoshop, you would place a 3x larger image in your file as a smart object sized down to 1x. This would preserve the larger dimensioned image for exporting for Retina images. Since AP does not do smart objects, when you go to export your image @2x and @3x from a @1x size, how does the export compensate for the larger size Retina images? It might make sense to place a @3x image size and then downsample to @2x and @1x for exporting but I don't think AP does that? I'd like to get a workflow down. Can you advise? Thanks much and a super great product!
  19. Hello guys, I am iOS developer and I am struggling with exporting stuff from AD. I have a big vector icon in my AD project. Now I need to export it in ~15 resolutions. How do I do it? I can create slice but the export option is 1x and 2x (aka retina). Where is the option to set custom resolution? I need 29px, 40px, 60px, 76px… I thought I will create slice for each desired resolution and export it all at once. Steps to replicate: - new project (iPad 2 for example) - draw a rectangle with gradient - create rectangle slice - try to export that slice in several different resolutions Any idea?
  20. Hey, I recently (yesterday) bought Affinity Designer and today I was checking out various features, but I ran into a problem. The document size is 512x512, but it shows up like 1024x1024px. (It shows up document size like it would show up on non-retina displays) Here are pictures for better understanding: Affinity Designer document at 100% Photoshop document with same sizes at 100% (You can notice, that in PS it shows document 2x smaller than in Affinity Designer) Is there an option to get document size shown correctly on Retina displays or I should move this topic to bugs? Thanks! :)
  21. Hello, First, I want to say I love Affinity Designer. I hope to see Retina HD (@3x) support soon, that would be a really great time-saver. Also, it would be great if you could add page presets for the iPhone 4, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Thanks. Keep up the good work.
  22. Now that the iPhone 6+ is out and it wants 3x retina images (400+ dpi), design apps should start supporting it. There is some 2x image support in Affinity designer. But what about 3x retina images? (and perhaps something that's more future-proof). Thanks.
