  1. Happy New Year, folks. I keep encountering times where things need to be refreshed but are not (even after a good wait). It's an old issue and can range from histogram to the main image. I'm not asking here for you to debug the whole show about this. What would help, however, would be a key or button that just does a refresh. F5, I believe is a common choice. Thanks!
  2. There are several times the Designer interface isn't refreshing, although the values seems to been changed 'underwater': EXPORT PERSONA When changing the name of a slice the filename(s) under that slice don't get refreshed in the interface. The filenames show their new names only if you do things like adding a new file. Then they pop to their new state. TOOL DEPENDENT OPTIONS-BAR Eventhough the 'Show Rotation Center' button is selected to always show rotation centers of objects, when switching to a new element Designer doesn't show the rotation center of the new selection in the viewport. In the viewport it's turned off, but it should be visible 'cause the button is still enabled. You have to toggle the 'Show Rotation Center' button twice to make it visible again everytime when you select another object. ARTBOARD When moving elements positions from artboard A to within the bounds of artboard B inside the viewport, the translated layers automatically got moved to the new artboard in the layerspanel. And obviously the coordinate-system for the element are being translated to the coordinate-system when it drops on artboard B. So the x an y positions of the element adjust to their new artboard-'parent'. But that's not visible in the interface; the interface still shows the coordinates as if artboard A is still a reference. So if artboard A is on the right of the screen and artboard B is on the left (so the element moves to the left to go to artboard B), suddenly the elements get a negative position, eventhough they are within the bounds of Artboard B and within the layergroup of artboard B. It looks like it is changed underwater, but the interface isn't updating, which is confusing. As a user you have to do things to make it update now, like clicking on a corner of the squared icon with corneranchors in the transform panel, just to refresh the values in the panel to their new coordinates.
  3. Searched the forum with a few keywords, but nothing showed up, so checking to see if others are able to replicate this.. With an object selected, resize the document window by grabbing an edge. For me, more times than not, there seems to be a refresh issue where the selection highlight and the actual underlying object are out of sync. Oftentimes it takes additional jiggling of the window size for highlight and object to re-sync. Affinity Designer v1.60 on a 2012 Retina MBP with High Sierra.
  4. Steps to reproduce: 1) Load some raster photo 2) Record a macro which duplicates current layer, and modifies the opacity and blend mode of the copy 3) Make both opacity and blend mode adjustable in the macro by clicking the two corresponding eye icons 4) Remove the duplicate layer 5) Replay the macro 6) While the macro options dialog open try modifying the opacity and blend mode in it. The preview only refreshes when the opacity is changed, but not when the blend mode is changed.
  5. Hi, In AF 1.6.1.93 when using the move tool and entering the new position with the keyboard in the Transform panel, the image does not refresh properly and the moved pixel area does not get cleared up from the old position. Additionally notice the strange marching ants artifact around the end of the sequence. The marching ants are painted both in the old position and bottom of new position.

    Replaced Documents display broken.

If I have a rectangle masking an image (I'm using PDFs), and then replace that image, Designer shows the image has been replaced in the layers list. However, the old image will still display. If I interact with the image (scaling or moving usually), the program will jitter between the old and new image. Sometimes it will settle on the new image, but then click back to the old one. Since the image is actually gone, this is obviously a cacheing issue – does Designer maintain a cache of images for display? I'm assuming so. Above, you can see the problem: the two masked embedded images are different, but they display as the same (as a minor bug with either Serif or Apple, the select handles don't show in the screenshot, but those are the panels). I've taken to deleting and reembedding the image, but this is really irritating: I'm generating the embedded images from another program that produces consistent sizes, so I have to laboriously resize the image, which is a pretty precise operation, and really slows my workflow down: this is a core part of what I do.
  7. The layer thumbnail previews in the layer panel are often blank (just a black square) and do not refresh or update. This happens under many circumstances including… when creating new objects opening an existing file reorganizing existing objects As you might imagine this makes working with any project of significant complexity very difficult. Sometimes the thumbnails can be forced to refresh by zooming the view, but other times this doesn't work. Usually switching to a different document in a second tab, and then returning to the original file forces a refresh.
  8. So I'm on the band wagon seeing as PS has gone subscription based. I have Designer and Photo and was happy, kind of. I noticed the performance was very poor on AP. Zooming in on a WIP layer would take too long to update/refresh. I mean, its maybe half a second but it's enough to kill your thought process and kind of disorientates you. What I noticed was the biggest lagger was gradients. A simple gradient overlaid on to my highest level layer. Any attempt at changing the angle of this gradient would cause it to refresh once every second, maybe jumping 20° each time. Totally unusable and more to the point, frustrating. I'm only running onboard graphics card on my Dell i7, 16GB, 1TB SSD but PS was never a problem. I hit the forums to find out what I could do to get some speed in to AP. I tried it all and none of it worked. Changed the render setting to WARP, no change. Allocated more RAM, no change. I then remembered that my music production software wasn't too keen on SpeedStep being enabled as the processor got confused and jumped about from 20% to 70% whilst using particluar VSTs. Thinking about this, I popped in to my BIOS. Speedstep was turned off (which I left as it was to keep my music software happy) but I had another setting in my BIOS that was switchable.... TurboBoost. I switched this off and rebooted in to windows. Opened up the same file. Placed a gradient layer on top and dragged. NIGHT AND DAY!!! It was like using PS again. Smooth as a babies back side. Zooming in and out causes instant (not literally) refreshes. Scrolling through the Layer blend types is almost invisible as it changes the blending properties real time. The thumbnails on the layers panel update instantly with no lag. I've yet to try other things out that was causing me frustration but thought I'd post this on here in case it hasn't been addressed yet. I noticed that there seems to be problems with the higher end systems running AP so maybe its this Turbo Boost thing on Intel based processors. Anyways. My first post here so, Hello! Hope this may help some frustrated AP users. Turn off TurboBoost in your BIOS and hopefully it'll cure your lagging issues. Also check your DPI scaling in control panel!!! When I'm on 100%, the lagging is terrible. When I change to 150% (Recommended), the lag disappears.

AP Win Bug - Re-Draw error

Hi, happened to me more times - Re-draw error, but now: - opened existing .afphoto file - Levels adjustments - at first it did not work - now after a while of some clicking it works....... This re-draw error (refresh) seems to be quite common..... please check it overally ;) Do you have some internal/development F5 "Refresh" combination, please? Would be useful as sometimes the trick with zoom out-in does not work  Thanks for solving Jindra
  10. I mean, when one moves the cursor or draws, all image drawn (lines, etc) become pixelated, and goes back to normal when nothing is moving. The result is a kind of slight flashing for the change of aliasing or simply going to a more pixelated version (is hard to explain, but many of us know what it is) during the seconds the cursor is moving. It is sort of very distracting. It happens to both tools, but have noticed more in Photo. I am planning to buy both, but for me (maybe for others, too) the use if this is fixed will be much more than a converter and print file preparation utility (function that accomplishes mostly quite well, already). That is, I'd love to actually paint with it (as i do with Krita, CPS and etc). I would totally understand if is not implemented, as is probably how the graphic engine works. It'd be great if there was an option, not even default, that one could trigger on, even with a warning sentence of going to lower performance, as for some of us, this trembling/glitch matter is quite important.
