  1. Hello everyone! This saturday our servers' files have been encrypted by EKING ransomware and I'm afraid that my Affinity product license files might got out in the process. None of my local files were damaged, only the network volumes got encrypted up to the letter "M". I quickly removed everything related to Affinity from my PC at work. What's the general approach when something like this happens? Should I be worried? Since my license can only be used at most on 5 machines, if people on the internet gets hold of it, will I get blocked somehow when I try to use it later? Can I install the Affinity suite back? Thank you for any info you can give me.
  2. Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably already have heard about the WannaCry (a.k.a. WannaCrypt) ransomware outbreak that has affected an estimated 200K Windows computers in over 150 countries. The security flaw it exploits has been patched with updates from Microsoft (including for Windows XP), but unless you install the latest Windows update for your OS version, you are vulnerable. Note that this malware includes a worm -- it silently propagates over networks -- so even if you are very careful about phishing attacks & opening spam, if you are on the same network as someone who is not & you are not running the latest update of your Windows version, you are still vulnerable. Be safe! Update your OS ASAP if you have not already done so!
