  1. After the update to Publisher version 1.7.0.292 there are problems when exchanging images (Replace Image - Button). The newly inserted image is displayed "overexposed". The new image can only be resolved by deleting the old image and then reinserting the new image. Klaus
  2. Hi there, I can't seem to find an existing discussion on this problem, so please excuse me if I'm duplicating a question. I have a fairly long document (100 pages) in double spread and if (a) try to move a page (b) try to delete a page (c) try to add a page - adding and subtracting doubles works fine. Also, it will crash if I attempt to turn the double spread back to single. I have tried all kinds of things, but to no avail. Im now working with 1.7.0.292, but this problem has not yet been resolved. Thanks in advance
  3. Hey everyone! When opening Document, Resource Manager, selecting all files and setting them to linked, my document will still be at 109,3MB file size. In fact, before linking the unlinked images, the file had 108MB. So linking even increases file size by a small amount. The Resource Manager will show them as linked and Publisher will report errors when renaming a file. It just doesn't decrease file size. And even when Publisher cannot fint a file, it is still being displayed, instead of an error frame, which I would expect. Is this a known issue? It seems it shouldn't be since there is a tutorial on the website for this. I am using High Sierra. Best wishes, Shu
  4. I get an error when I export a document to pdf (for print) with linked Designer files. Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6.
  5. Hello, is there any information of a release date for Affinity Publisher? And will it be 55€, like the other programs? Sincerely, badyherz.
  6. hello guys! first of all: english is not my native language so i hope i can explain myself. i usually use indesign at work but hopefully i can switch to the complete affinity suite. he main work i do are magazine layouts, print ads and so on. therefore i use the textframe tool quite a bit! so it comes that i recognized some strange settings between publisher and indesign. let me explain this. i draw a textframe with a filler text in the same font in publisher and indesign but publisher has some different line spacing settings: Some common InDesign Examples: font size 8pt - line space 9,6pt font size 10pt - line space 12pt font size 12pt - line space 14,4pt but publisher has these settings: font size 8pt - line space 8,3pt font size 10pt - line space 10,4pt font size 12pt - line space 12,5pt the publisher settings are too close for each line. why are these settings used? can i change these odd behavior so that the standard line spacing settings are used? ah and one small or even big bug (i think): i cant select characters or even sentences with my cursor. it is either all or nothing that i can select. even with my arrow keys! its the start of an paragraph or the end of it.... maybe you have some advice for me handling these kind of problems! Thank you!
  7. I used Publisher to make some Photo Books. You can find one here: https://issuu.com/n.w.d/docs/mocaa Norbert
  8. Hey, because the discussion board is full of requests and I don't really know where to put my thoughts and experiences from the first run of Affinity Publisher I put them here in a quick list for further discussion UI Doubleclick on Color in Color selector opens a different dialog to a doubleclick on a swatch mac OS Proxy Icons for file management monochrome tool icons Color Management / Spot Colors: Device independent color workflow generally mixed colorspaces (like in Indesign and PDF) Overprint preview, separations preview Better Overprint/Spot-Color-Management Make Spot Color from existing color Spot Colors in LAB-Color-Space for PDF Export Document Management Spreads which consist of more than two sides Printing Booklets / Imposition Export select Pages for export by a list of numbers Use .joboptions for the definition of pdf-Properties (really important) Define PDF-X Output Intend Export print separations / separated color channels Interactive PDFs with page transitions and video content Import IDML
  9. I am looking for a way to set the colour name automatically based on colour value in Affinity Designer. When you change a colour value in a Indesign document, it automatically changes the colour name accordingly within the swatches window. It's a huge timesaver. When you add a colour to the swatches panel, Affinity applies the colour value name. However when I change a existing colour within the swatches panel, it shows the previously colour value. It looks like I have to manually change the colour value. How can I do that in Affinity Designer or Affinity Publisher?
  10. Hi there, I'm currently making a booklet for work and I'm struggling to get the page ordering correct for it to print as a booklet. It's a 25 page document and the pages were made in the correct order however when I go to print as a booklet (flip short sides, A4 paper) my back page ends up being covered by a blank sheet which is half of the second page and then my back page is in facing to the last page. I'll add images if it helps because I'm atrocious when it comes to explaining things. Thank you
  11. 1) In the Dock on Mac, the shape of Publisher-app is not same as other two Affinity-apps. Why? 2) I miss the palette: "Resource manager" to manage images. Now we have to click with mouse: [menu] Document / Resource Manager… too cumbersome.
  12. Hi there! I'm not sure whether this is a general bug or limited to the computers at our office: Whenever I try to undock the paragraph panel Publisher crashes without notification and has to be killed via the Windows task manager. Interestingly it does not crash if I try to undock any other panel (e.g. character or layer panel). Additionally it only happens on Win-10-machines in our office. All Win-8.1-machines are not affected. Initially we blamed the graphics driver, but after having removed the drivers completely and installed them afresh, we come to the conclusion that Publisher might be the cause as the problem persists. The problem is not limited to a specific document but happens with all existing and new documents. Windows 10 (10.0.17134), 64 Bit Nvidia GeForce 940MX (driver version 25.21.14.1935) Best, Volker
  13. Hey, I would like to know if is there any option on Affinity Publisher to change the name of the PDF on tab. For example, when we open the exported PDF in Google Chrome it has a name on Tab ("paper_taxis"), but if we open on Adobe Acrobat it shows the pdf name on tab ("Paper_BusTickets_PT_compressed"). We need to have a way to change that name. Is there any option to do that ? Waiting for your feedback. Best regards, Nádia Nair
  14. Hi there! I've just redone a brochure in Affinity Publisher originally produced at my agency using Indesign. The process of creating the layout was smooth, but the export to PDF/X3 wasn't: Either parts of the text got rasterized or some images were missing in the exported PDF. When using the preset "Export (web)" some headlines and parts of the copy text got rasterized without any apparent reason (see page 10 + 11, no fx, fonts embedded). If exported to web with the option "don't raster anything" set the same headlines and copy text got exported just fine as vectors - but some images were missing afterwards (afphoto format). Just wonder what I was doing wrong? Best, Volker brochure-test-web-no-raster-allowed.pdf brochure-test-web-raster-only-unsupported-features.pdf
  15. A document I created as a template for other docs is creating PDF files that contain a "title" that refers to what must be a prior version of the file. I believe the document header must contain something like what an html doc has: <title>You Put Your Doc Title Here</title> In a browser, the doc title should show in the tab, as in the attached screen print. What's showing is totally different from the actual document name. Is there some way I can fix this? TEMPLATE-MCF-1-UP.pdf TEMPLATE-MCF-1-UP.afpub
  16. Hi, I've already mentioned this long ago, but it's still bugged. I've got 3 paragraphs and 3 text styles, each one 's got a "next style" set (x > y > z). When I select few paragraphs and use the option "Apply style_x and next styles", the first paragraph should be applied style_x, the second one style_y and the third style_z. Visually, it's ok (1st paragraph looks like style_x, 2nd one looks like style_y and 3rd one looks like style_z). But in fact, the when I select each one of the 3 paragraphs, the Text style panel only shows style_x applied. It's more than a visual error, since APub thinks only the 1st style is applied.
  17. When I replaced images in a publisher file. the ones in "portrait format" were inserted as landscape, minimized to fit the image box. I opened these in affinity photo turned them once anti-clockwise, then back and saved them. After this they were inserted correctly in Publisher. PS: I think there isn't a function which is very useful in InDesign when you want to replace/ relink your images. There you can use it to replace every image in the file at once by linking it to a another folder ( that has image file with the same names in it).
  18. Hi, my personal circumstances have changed drastically and I am probably going to have to freelance from home. I already own Photo and Designer so it would be logical to buy Publisher. Is there a date for launch yet, please? And will the app be able to open .indd files? Best wishes W
  19. I have changed the master pages of a document, adding a bleed and changes margin, guides and page size. After applying the changes the page numbers are in a strange position, from page two onward, due to the fact that those pages kept the old page size 216mm instead of the new 210mm width, and 156 instead of 148 mm in height. Removed the spread to see if it was the bleed that did it. But see the attached document, no result. It looks like that when you change the page size in the master you have to do it manually in the document? Regards Mat bug test .afpub
  20. In a bulleted list, if there's only one character left and I delete it, the bullet point sometimes also is deleted.
  21. Hello Team i've been working on a project to check the new AFPub .270 but noticed: The software crash every time I tried to reorder the pages using the drag and drop method. i Tried to re-order one page at a time made the software crash. i Tried to re-order couple of pages (4 in this case) made the software crash Note: This Manual Re-ordering of pages was 100% working in previous version ! Suggestion: Not only it would be great for this to be fixed but, Dev's should implement a complementary method of Page re-reorder instead of havong only one way to do that, thus putting us in safe land; if one fails, we can use the other method. Blessings !
  22. I saved an own table of contents layout. When I tried to delete it, Publisher crashed.
  23. Wenn I search for line endings via a regular expression search for newline (\n) characters, the search result list shows me \n\r as line endings, what's that?
  24. Posted in support forum previously. I think this is a bug. Posted March 5 I'm using Affinity Publisher Beta v. 1.7.0.249. I started with a facing-pages spread layout, and filled it with text (100+ pages). As an experiment -- since I know of a publishing house that requires single-page spreads and doesn't want two-page spreads -- I unchecked the "facing pages" box in the Document Setup dialog. All of my text disappeared! Images are still on the pages on which I placed them, but there is no text at all. I had saved the document, and reverted to that version, so nothing was lost, but if I need to go to a single-page format, I'll have to recreate the entire document. Is this a bug, or a feature that is still incomplete? It should work to switch the layout once the text is placed.
  25. Windows 10 Home 1809, Publisher 1.7.0.257. I have a simple 8-page A4 facing-spread document. I have 4 small images - total size on disk 136kB - to add as page backgrounds (the same image on the first and last page, different images across the other spreads). When I add the images as Image layers to the document and export as PDF I get a PDF that is 98.8kB in size. That looks fine and dandy. However, when I add the images as Picture Frame layers, and export with exactly the same options, I get a PDF that is 2.1MB in size. That's way bigger. Does anyone know what's happening and why? Am I doing something wrong? I can attach the documents and/or PDFs if necessary. P.S. Both of the afpub files are 1.85MB in size, which also seems a little large, considering, but I guess that's a different issue.
