  1. I am new to affinity and am struggling. How do i view font information in PSDs. A graphic designer is sending me PSDS via my client, i think he creates them in photoshop, the client has assured me font information is contained in the PSDS. Font size, font family, h1, h2 info, stuff like that. I cannot see how to view this information and am becoming really frustrated at how difficult it is to access this basic information. Yes, i googled it, and i found this:(it embeded, it is above this message) It said to "With the file closed in Affinity, can you check under Preferences>General and make sure you have 'Import PSD as Text rather than bitmap' ticked and then reopen the file. You should then be able to select the text and edit it." so i have done that and someone else says " If you use the move tool (arrowhead symbol) and click on the text itself you'll see the font and text size displayed." but still for the life of me cannot see the font family, size and h1 h2 etc. I have attached a screenshot, this is me having clicked the text and in the right handside panel it just says "no style" Please someone help me, it is driving me crazy right now. Thanks a lot in advance!
  2. Couldn't find another thread about this, sorry if it's already been addressed. I am using Affinity photo for web design. I exported my file to psd, when I opened it in Photoshop CS6 on a mac, all the text had been rasterized. I have not tried it in Creative Cloud or on a PC. Is this a known "issue", or was that purposeful? I know AP is meant for photographers, but I, and others, would be using it for web design.

Layer blend mode "Transfer" and .psd

Hey everyone! I'm not sure if this is a bug or just a limitation of the .psd file type, but when using the layer blend mode "Transfer", opening exported .psd files from Affinity Designer (maybe Photo as well?) will not have the layer blend mode set to "Transfer", nor can I change any layer's mode to "Transfer". Is this layer blend mode specific to Affinity software? (I am using Designer 1.6.0.) If so, is there a way to approximate the effect of the "Transfer" layer mode? I am trying to export files for using in Procreate with the layers not being flattened. Best wishes, Shu
  4. I export a psd file in Affinity Designer but the fonts change to pixel layer and didn't edit.
  5. Hey

    Export editable text

Hi! I started using Affinity Photo on my iPad and I'm loving it, but i'm having a little problem. I'm not able to export the file to psd, with the editable layerm so I can change the texts in my Photoshop (even by selecting the preset PSD - Preserve editability,) is there any way to do this? Thank you very much for the help.

    Exporting PSD with layers. How?

Hello, I have a web layout that I've created using Affinity Designer and I want to export it as a PSD with layers (preferrably editable where possible) so someone I'm working with who only has and knows Photoshop can make changes. However, when I export the layout no matter which preset I choose (even PSD preserve editability) it always exports flattened to one pixel background layer. I'm opening the result in Photoshop CC 2018. What do I need to change so that it will export my document to layers?

Exporting to PSD - Text Not Editable

Hi there, I am very new at Photoshop, let alone Affinity Photo. I am exporting a PSD for someone, but when they go to edit the text, they can't. They can move it, delete it, but not edit the actual text. Is there something I am missing? A setting when I am exporting? Thank you for your advice and insight. Sarah E.
  8. Hello, I just bought Affinity Designer and I'm trying to use mockups that were created in Photoshop but the problem I encounter is I can't edit the Smart Objects so basically, if the smart object have some text I can't edit it or move it around etc,... my question is if Affinity Designer is capable of editing smart objects imported from PhotoShop. Best Regards
  9. Every time I try to export a file to PSD that has any layers with FX on them, I get an error message. If I rasterize those layers, along with their effects, it will then export. However, that defeats the whole purpose of exporting to PSD to be able to later edit the layers in Photoshop. Please fix this bug!!
  10. Hi, We created a Designer document for a webpage catalog (screenshot attached). It includes many layers, text and images. When we export to PSD for development/integration all the elements (in this case the macarons) come out as one single layer in Photoshop (latest version). Maybe we are doing things wrong? I could have attached the Designer file but it's a bout 100MB in size. But I attached a screenshot of a portion of the layers panel if that can help. Thanks for your help! Norm

Export from Affinity Photo a PSD format to NAS

When I attempt to export straight from affinity photo a psd format to my NAS it goes 100% but cannot do the final write. My NAS comes up with a message that the server is being interrupted.. Fix? ps. I can export to my harddrive no problems but I'm looking at this as an alternative to photoshop which can write directly to the NAS and do not want to add an extra step to my workflow.. Thanks
  12. Hi, Affinity Designer is not able to open Apple's PSD correctly. https://developer.apple.com/design/resources/ Instead everything is shown as unusable raw pixels layers. Again, Affinity is not making it easy for UI Designers... Wrong iOS 11 assets, can't open PSDs as vectors, not ready for primetime.
  13. Hi, i have a problem when open PSD file. I cannot edit text layer? Is to possible to fix it ? In photoshop this layer is editable. Thanks.
  14. Hey guys! terrific job with the updates. Love the software...use it on a regular basis. One thing I love about affinity is that I got to make a really good combo with apple motion. That way...I was able to free myself from Adobe in every way (no more photoshop and no more after effects). The thing is that since I've updated to affinity photo 1.6.7 PSD export from photo to Apple Motion is broken . I've tried the 3 different modes and no luck. It just imports an empty canvas. That's sad because PSD is the only format that I can use because it does support layers (when it use to open them..anyways). I've also tried to export in EXR format (layered) but I got an error message saying I couln't. I know it's this affinity 1.6.7 because this issue is new to this version...it worked perfectly with the previous version. Can you guys give me a hand? I promise I´ll post a youtube video on how to do motion graphics with affinity photo and motion if you solve this for me ASAP. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Best regards. Ben.
  15. The "Text on Path" was convert to area Text when I import the psd file in affinity photo .1.6.7, it's a issue ? or it's only a font (chinese font) error ?
  16. EDIT: The issues have been updated Hello everyone! When importing .psd files from Procreate, the layer blend settings will not be imported into Affinity Photo. Is this to be expected? Is this a limitation of Procreate's .psd export? Is this an issue with Affinity Photo? I am not using anything fancy. Just some color and some light layers. Best wishes, Shu Software used: Affinity Photo 1.5.1, Affinity Designer 1.5.1, OSX 11.6 Procreate 3.2
  17. I don’t know how difficult it is to make it possible to save PSD files with editable text layers instead of rasterizing them. This is the one feature that keeps me from doing my design work totally on my iPad without Photoshop. I have a client that needs the ability to edit the text before it goes to print because of data that is not available when I’m working on the job (ie product catalog numbers). So my current workflow is I do all of the design layout, drawing, photo editing on my iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil, then export as a PSD, and then add all the text layers in Photoshop on my laptop. Of course there may not be a high demand for this feature.

    Slow export on iPad

Hi, What typical save times are we looking at for the various export options? I'm currently exporting out a PSD at 530mb approx and it's taking ages! I understand it'll vary depending on file size/amount of information, but this does seem really quite slow? Are many people bouncing work between the desktop and iPad? Best, Nick

    PSD Mockups Free

Hi, I would like to share with you a site where you can download lot of PSD Mockups (electronic, food, item) entirely for Free. All mockups have editable semi-transparent shadows and electronics mockups - iPhone, iPad, Surface also have fully editable screens. All resources available on Undesigns.net are royalty free for use in both personal and commercial projects. You don’t need to include any attribution or link to Undesigns.net. https://undesigns.net/
  20. Hello, I just opened a psd file with Affinity, and when I try to change the Leading of a text field (frame text) to 20 for example, I get 1.4, or other small random values. Cheers, Chris

    PSD mock ups

Hi there, m name is Liam. I'm basically a total rookie. I have just started web design. I am trying to use PSD mock-ups I've downloaded from a free resource website. I can open them, but the smart image feature doesn't work. I just want my images to fit in automatically and scale. I have seen a video online, but that was from 2015. I'm not sure if I'm downloading them correctly, or opening them correctly. Any help please? thanks
  22. I just wanted to recap the current state of how Affinity Designer is performing in web design workflows. I'm using Affinity Designer since one year for all of my work and I love the application itself. But as of now there is no complete workflow to handout designs made in AD to developers in any way: 1. Neither Zeplin nor Avocode support AD and it doesn't seem that anthying will change here. 2. Affinity Designer supports PSD Export but has two major drawbacks: Border radius properties are not preserved and text layers are completely flattened which make them completely useless. 3. Affinity Designer doesn't support the new open file format of SketchApp to be able to export designs as Sketch files to then inspect them in Zeplin, Avocode, or any other Sketch Viewer. 4. Exporting to SVG or PDF is not an option either because important properties like border radius, line-height and others are missing. 5. Right now it doesn't seem that Affinity is adding an inspect persona or any viewer service or app. So I'd like to ask the Affinity Designer team: What are your goals to improve the workflow for webdesigners and developers? How are you planning to improve this workflow in the future or don't you plan to do anything in this regard? Do you have any suggestion how web designers can work with developers? I've added a poll so that users can vote which suggestion they like the most.
  23. I did a lot of reading as well as exploring within AP, but couldn't find the correct info to help me, so I'm posting here. Forgive the amount of info, but at least you'll know what I'm driving at. Please bear with me. I have a PSD template I use for colorizations in PS. I would like to open that (or any other preexisting file) in AP and maintain all layers, associated masks, colors, and clipped adjustment layers, as well as groups, blending options, etc. What I'm getting is that the groups seems ok. I noticed that the icon displays effects of what is within that group, whereas in PS, it was a simple Group icon. This is a nice touch in AP. Blending modes and opacities are the same. The Solid Color fill layers and their associated masks are merged when loaded into AP, instead of having a fill layer and separate mask underneath it like when creating a fill layer, then adding a layer mask if it was done directly in AP. The layer icon background is black and the revealed area is a color similar to what was masked in PS, but the RGB Hex number for the Solid Color fill layers in PS do not match the RGB Hex number in AP. Note that the color profile is set the same in preferences, but could be different in the template file, which I've had for a long time, and since it doesn't happen in something like the example below. I will use a simple example here without groups, one that can be recreated by anyone rather than me uploading a picture: In a PS PSD file, layers tab, we have: - a locked background picture - let's say of two green balloons. - a Solid Color fill layer - let's say blue, and named "Blue Balloon". - the associated layer mask that PS automatically added when choosing the Solid Color fill layer. This is inverted to all black except for the white portion set to a selection of one of the balloons to allow us to change the color to blue or any other color we want thereafter, and to allow us to change or adjust the masked area later on as well. - a Hue Saturation layer clipped to the Solid Color fill layer below it - let's say we set Hue to +25 and Saturation to +50 for the sake of this example. Save the PSD file, then open it in AP. In AP, layers tab, we have: - a locked background (Pixel) picture of the two green balloons. - a layer named "Blue Balloon (Fill)". It appears to be a merge of the blue Solid Color fill layer and the associated layer mask created in PS. - a Hue Saturation layer that looks clipped (is under the fill layer), but seems to have no affect on the Solid Color fill layer above it. Also, Hue Shift has the color under cyan at +25 as compared to blue in PS. Saturation Shift appears to be the same. So at first glance, it appears we have a few problems: the fill layer and mask are merged, the RGB Hex number is different (in my colorization template but not any other file I start from scratch), and the HS layer does not appear to be active, nor does the hue amount match when loaded into AP. First, how can I ensure that the color hex numbers are the same when loading a PSD file in AP? Next, are there solutions and/or workarounds to loading PSD files into AP, especially in the case of merged layers and masks, and if so, what are they, and what have you users been doing in these types of situations? Cheers! p.s. Is there a preview post option on this forum? I just get Cancel and Submit Topic.
  24. Hey guys, Does anyone know if Photoshop 2017 can open svg text as editable text? I really hate Photoshop, I really love Affinity, but I still need some way to provide psd files to some of my clients. So I noticed that if I export text as SVG from Affinity, I can keep it as text, and if I inspect it in any browser, I will get the exact info of the font ( font family, size, color, weight, style, line heights, everything). Can I import such a SVG containing text into Photoshop 2017 and see it as editable text in Photoshop? Did anyone try this? I would pay like an idiot for a Photoshop license monthly just for that, and that will make me hate Photoshop even more
  25. Hi Affinity team, sorry to bother you with yet another problem. Short description When using Affinity Photo as an extension to Apple Photos, PSD files from the Apple Photo's Library cannot be opened User story As a user of both Affinity Photo 1.6.6 and Apple Photos 2.0 (3161.4.140) on Mac OS Sierra I'd like to be able to perform iterative edits to developed RAW files larger than about 1 MegaPixels. Problem 1 Apple Photos seems to apply a limit of 16MB to adjustment data of Photo Editing Extensions, so round-tripping is effectively only possible with raw files up to about 1 Megapixels; larger files will result in the message 16MB change limit exceeded - document will be flattened and saving only the JPEG into the Apple Photos Library Problem 2 Affinity Photo does not allow saving a copy in its native .afphoto file format when editing a file named "Apple Photos Document.afextensiondocument" (the File -> Save As... menu option is greyed out) but it does allow exporting a PSD document in this case. Attempted work-around I've tried to work around these limitations by exporting a PSD and reimporting the PSD in Photos. (.afphoto files can not be imported into Apple Photos unless they are saved as adjustment data by the Photo Editing Extension AND the file size if below 16MB) Perceived bug However when trying to edit the PSD using Affinity Photo as Photo Editing Extension the following message is displayed in Affinity Photo: Failed to open file [...]/6LVTQB9699.com.seriflabs.extensions/intermediates/Apple Photos Document.afextensiondocument The file type is not supported. Additional information Testing revealed that Affinity Photo CAN open the file when a .psd extension is appended to the file name. [edit] More testing revealed that the document type contained in .afextensiondocument file can be recognised by the "file" tool (file-5.31 as of macOS Sierra) - when editing OpenEXR files (can be opened by Affinity Photo) $ file -b "Apple Photos Document.afextensiondocument" OpenEXR image data, version 2, storage: scanline, compression: zip, dataWindow: (0 0)-(4944 3274), displayWindow: (0 0)-(4944 3274), lineOrder: increasing y - when editing PSD files (can not be opened by Affinity Photo) $ file -b "Apple Photos Document.afextensiondocument" Adobe Photoshop Image, 4945 x 3275, RGB, 3x 32-bit channels
