  1. Hello Team ! i believe Affinity Publisher would do better job and be even competitive if you had a possibility to do OCR or Characters recognition on loaded PDF or scanned documents. in fact Publisher should be pair correctly with scanners and have Pro level scan functionalities to allow more Pro to converge or convert to it. There is a capture software called snagit who does that job so why not Publisher ? Hope this helps ! Blessings.
  2. This will be the thumbnail for my next video. The character was drawn in Krita, everything else, Affinity Photo
  3. HI guys, the is my first work made with AD, normally I use AI (Mac) and CorelDraw (depends on the job). vectors only, AD is a nice App!
  4. What are Affinity's rules of use in regards to creating work professionally?
  5. Hi all ! I'm proud to show you how AP is a professionnal tool. I'm near the end of the of a graphic design of a jewelry catalog for a major French retailer. It was a real challenge I want to succeed and it have been hard because of my 20 years of using Adobe tools ... but I did it ! Why using AP instead Photoshop ? Because of one particular thing : the non destructive effect when you resize au layer. This is really important when you compose a page with objects and you don't know what could be the their final size. In Photoshop this action is destructive and you loose lots of details by trying to find the good placement of your object, so you have to duplicate your object : one for the draft copy and the second one for the final placement ... and pray so that is the last décision of your costumer ! GREAT ! The second things are "move by whole pixel" and "force alignment of pixels" options, the best way to keep a sharp definition of your objects ! SO GREAT ! The third thing is exporting with Lanczos algorythmes ... SO SO GREAT ! At the end of this project, I'll post a long list of little features that could help us to be more productive with AP : management of selection (add to selection, subtract from selection, ...), improve fill panel, "new layer" panel like "adjustments" panel ... Jewels have not been retouched in AP because I need two things to do it well : 1- Oil painting filter. I make a personnal use of this filter to obten specific results on the internals shapes of a jewel. There is a free option for Windows but nothing for Mac ... Source files can be downloaded but I don't know to compile for OSX : https://yande.re/forum/show/2007?page=1 2- Improvments for gradient and color picker tools, actually they are too long to use. See you in few weeks !
  6. Since Apple stop support pro-user software, you are my hope now :) . Affinity Designer and Photo are amazing. Now i read you develop a DAM Solution. That's really amazing. 1. Apple Aperture is the best picture managing software for pro user i ever found and used. Use it for inspirate the affinity DAM software. Clever Keywords with drag and drop, very fast filepreview, dynamic intuitive GUI are only some great features of Aperture. Another great little fast tool is Pixa. But Aperture is no more supported and Pixa have missing features. Now you are the hope for Pro-Users. 2. Must have: Offline no-Cloud solution for Companys with sense of security. i am so exiting, let me know when beta is out :D Great job!!!
  7. Hi I'm very impressed by the grid manager of Designer, and I'm having extra high hopes for Publisher's grid manager. Adobe InDesign has a disappointing grid system out of the box, but there is a top notch commercial plugin for making grids for professional magazine and book design made by a Swedish art director. You can view some videos about it here: https://designersbookshop.com/grid-calculator-pro-edition.html It would be great if Publisher had a comparable grid manager. Please let me know what you think! Bauke
  8. Hi there, Does Affinity Photo support the "Portrait Professional Studio" photoshop plug in ?. Thanks, Rafael
  9. I'm delighted to have been involved in putting together this article on the popular Creative Bloq for designers using Affinity Designer... you'll know some names in the piece from this forum :) http://www.creativebloq.com/examples-affinity-designer Please share these talented folks' artworks by using the social buttons at the top of the article. You'll also recognise most if not all the designs as they have appeared in some form on Twitter, in the product in some cases, in the forum, and in some Affinity marcomms. I take my hat off to these designers in particular for what they've achieved but appreciate all of you that are producing artwork with AD, I hope we're able to give you all an opportunity to look fantastic. Designers in this spotlight piece are: Val Motsch (Lescot) Jonathan Ball (Poked Studios) Ben The Illustrator (The Huddle Formation) Neil Ladkin (Serif & Affinity Art Director) David Wildish (FLOKK Creative) Sascha Preuβ (Bubblefriends) Paolo Limoncelli (UX-DesignStudio) Ignacio Valicenti (IDV) and YoAz Thanks guys, Dale.
