  1. Hey guys, I can't seem to find a way to convert process colours to spot in Affinity Publisher Beta. Not quite sure if there is a way yet. When I'm doing a print job that has a die-line, perf, fold line, etc, I usually set them up as a spot colour. In InDesign I usually convert one of the colours (either cyan, magenta, yellow, black, or whatever) from Color Type: Process to Color Type: Spot and then assign a name to each (like die-line). Is there a way to do something like that in Affinity Publisher at the moment? Thanks!
  2. Recently dealt with a small logo project for a barber. Was a cheap job and needed to be done 'soon'. Below is the progress... - 1. This was the original logo, not 100% clear on the 'MOS' initials, but this is what they wanted adapting. Remove the lion and add some scissors. The colour was also preferred to keep (a kind of 'gold'.) - 2. This was my first pass, thinking that the staggered 'MOS' wasn't clear, I went inline and moved the scissors over the 'O'. Traditionally, for a fairly simple logo I've always made sure the silhouette of it reads well before introducing colour. - 3. Unfortunately my initial idea was 'too far away' from the originally produced logo. This was my next attempt which was signed-off. I feel it's a fair representation of the original brief and proof that sometimes doing what you think is right is sometimes wrong. - I thought this would be worth sharing as it was a learning experience for me using Designer. Especially merging, splitting and cleaning up nodes (so many nodes) and the like.
  3. Hey everyone, In this video I will walk you through the process of creating a poster design using thumbnail sketches with Affinity Designer. Before I begin working on a design project, I always felt that creating thumbnails is an essential part of the creative process because by sketching out thumbnail layouts, I am able to play around with different layout ideas and work more efficiently later in the design stage. It may not be for everyone but I hope that this video tutorial is helpful 😊. Thanks, Mike
  4. Hello all I evaluate AP 1.7 as a replacement for Lightroom but run in some very basic problems with raw file development. 1. When I develop one single raw file (DNG from Lightroom) AP writes a huge file (121MB versus 19MB original). This is no good. Is there a way to save the adjustments done in a fair way without using the alternative formats like tif, jpg etc. ? 2. I want to develop several raw files (DNG from Lightroom) at once with a batch process and saving them in jpg or tif for further processing. However, I do not manage to apply the individually made macro in Photo Persona to process the RAW files in Photo Develop, although I can select the macro. Possibly the macros are not compatible? How can I process several raw files the same way? 3. Is it still not possible in AP to save adjustments made in single raw files in an undestructive way? Thank you for your helpful answers. Best regards,
  5. Uploaded a short process video that might interest some. Normal speed, just showing how I add refined line work and colour to a sketch in Designer. Hopefully there’ll be something to take away from it. Let me know if there are any questions. IMG_0279.MP4
  6. Hello everyone ! I have some work to do and really want to process it with Affinity exclusively, almost 50% of the project requires me to understand and apply the Golden hour. if there are filters or tone map or even a simple settings please help me understand that and apply. Blessings !

  8. Hi I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to batch watermark photos with different dimensions. I want my watermark in the right-hand corner on the bottom of every photo. I've tried looking and can't find what I'm looking for.
  9. I am having a really frustrating problem. When I am busy laying down nodes with the pen tool after roughly say 2 minutes designer just completely shuts down/terminates/gone! This is now happening all the time, any help please?
  10. When I run a batch job on some raw files using a macro I have created, the saved jpegs come out differently to when I run the same macro on files individually. Is there something I am missing? See attached photo: Left is individual output, and right is batch output. This only happens with raw files (olympus .orf) and not if run it on a jpeg. I can change the output of batch jobs to a degree by changing the develop assistant options, but I cannot get the result I wanted. I assume the problem is something to do with the develop persona, which I cannot record a macro for, but automatically runs when I open a raw file. Thanks for any help.
  11. Afinity Photo: Importing RAW images are being changed and turning very yellow. This has been happening since the update because I have our companies head shots that had the same issues but couldn't put my finger on it why they were coming out very yellow. I was thinking it was the white balance issue with my camera and the muslin blue background but its not. Attached is an image of the original nef file and the uploaded one with nothing done do it. The photo's are really unusable even when edited. Please help to address this. If there isn't a fix, I won't be able to use AFphoto for any of my editing needs.
