  1. Update: I went to Microsoft and tried it. You can use the vector brush tool with the surface pen in the same “drawing” motion that you can use on the iPad. I’ve been debating purchasing an iPad Pro vs. a Surface Pro 6...I was messing around with the app on the iPad Pro at the apple store and one thing I liked a lot is you can use the Apple Pencil to essentially “draw” your vectors through the vector brush tool. Is there the ability to do this on Microsoft surface pro with the surface pen with the pc version of affinity designer? Or is it only for the iPad app? Thanks!

Wedding Photo Edit iPad Pro 10.5

OK, I'm in love with AP on my 10.5 iPad Pro. A bit buggy, and I've crashed it about a dozen times in 24 hours but... It's a great start and I'm diggin' it so far. Here's a quick wedding photo edit. 100% iPad and Affinity Photo.
  5. Good afternoon fellows! After watching the official color profiles tutorial in AP on iPad, there remained a single question. How well will this work on an iPad not offering a P3 display like the all new iPad 2018 Ort iPad Air 2? Currently, I‘m using a 9.7 iPad Pro 2016 which has the P3 display built in and I wonder if there will be a disadvantage switching to the new iPad. Is a P3 Display essential for a ProPhoto based workflow? Thanks in advance!
  6. I'm on the 12.9 iPad pro 2nd gen. I load the image attached to try and use as a learning tool. My goal is to select just the tree and use the brush tool to paint on a color overlay. However Everytime I do this the brush tool affects both the tree and the sky. My process so far has been. Open image. Use in painting to remove some stray black dots. Use the option in the selection persona to select by color of sky. Adjust range to fill out sky only and click the check mark to select. Now my selection is perfect so I invert and move to the photo persona I choose the paintbrush. Lower to opacity and start brushing and it effects the entire image. I tried creating a mask layer from the selection but this hides the sky. I researched the selection refinement tutorial and I suppose I must be missing something.
  7. Hi there people! I finished the linert of my drawing, now I have to color it. Problem is...I need to color inside my flat color without the brush go out of it. In Photoshop, I used to put a new layer on top of the flat color and -> Create Clipping Mask Is there a way I can do that in Affinity Pro for iPad?
  8. I have just done a complete fresh in stall of windows 10 pro. i7 6 core, 32gb , GTX980, and solid state drives. All drivers are up to date. Newest version of Affinity Photo. RAW editing seems very choppy and slow. It was better on my windows 7 OS that need a serious clean, hence why i did a fresh install. Any suggestions as to a fix for this. LIGHTROOM is blazing fast. No issues there. Trying not to use adobe , but PHOTO RAW is not very usable at the moment on my machine. Any ideas would be appreciated. thanks Gary
  9. I'm a web developer preparing to go freelance and start my own business. I'm using Affinity Designer for all my UX/UI design work and am now looking for a new device to use at client meetings. Surface Pro fits my needs, and as a Microsoft fan I've always aspired to one. Ideally I'd have the i5/8GB version, but I'd rather not spend >£1000 and then have to still go buy the Type Cover + Pen. Right now, Amazon UK has the core m3 with the Type Cover in a bundle for £620 (was £600 on Black Friday). Trouble is, I can't find a demo unit anywhere, and actual reviews of the m3 unit are rather lacking. The device really won't need to do much, besides "give the right impression" (i.e., look good) to clients. I see it mostly sitting on the desk while we discuss the brief and I share prototypes of designs. The most intensive app it will ever need to run is Affinity Designer, but even then it's unlikely I'll be doing much actual editing while I'm sitting with the client. So... anyone here use Affinity Designer on a Surface Pro 2017 core M3 (or anything comparable to an m3/4GB combination), and how well/badly does it run? Should I see sense and admit that whatever I buy won't see much "active" use, or is m3/4GB as big a potential issue as I'm making it seem? For comparison's sake, I'm currently using Affinity Designer on an i7-7700K/32GB setup, with 3440x1440 AOC 34-inch ultrawide.
  10. Hi. Ive been trying to import luts into my app but I get a grayed out Dropbox icon. Please help! thanks in advance! im running on latest update of iOS 11 as of 17th October 2017. I’ve uploaded a photo as an example. I tried both MAC and windows version of the lut but it doesn’t work. Both appears the same as this just that the file name and size is different. All of the luts are cube files which I understand is a file type that can be used on affinity photo app on the iPad Pro. Thanks again!
  11. Improve the performance of Affinity photo by adapting Apple's Metal 2 https://developer.apple.com/metal/ iPad drag and drop feature to allow users to drag photos from and to Affinity photo. https://developer.apple.com/ios/drag-and-drop/ Possibly implement machine learning to improve the apps selection tool and inpainting paint brush tool, to improve its accuracy even more. https://developer.apple.com/machine-learning/ Implement 1.UIDocument 2.Open in Place 3.Document Provider Extension 4.iCloud Drive https://developer.apple.com/document-based-apps/

    Layer List Scroll Bug

Hey guys, on some projects when the layer list gets a little larger it becomes impossible to scroll down beyond a certain layer. That means that you can't access all layers anymore ! (--> decreases usability heavily) I don't know what has to be done for it to happen, but I will keep an eye on it and will let you know once I figure it out. But apart from that I just wanted to thank you guys for Affinity Photo, it's a great app for Mockups of any kind :) Jam
  13. Hey guys, just want to gather some experiences from people who might be using this software as a substitute for Photoshop on the go digital painting wise...and an idea on if it's worth the investment or not. since the release of the iPad Pro version i have been constantly looking through sites and forums for peoples experiences and the usual outcome is critical praise along the lines of a great substitute for PS but usually based off of the perspective from someone who used it with editing photos and not so much with illustration & painting. Basically my Cintiq is down and much of my work has fallen onto the iPad pro i'm not too interested in Astropad and i do have Mediabang and Procreate but both are always lacking many functions i love from using Photoshop i love concept art, texturing, sprite-work and animating so i'd absolutely love anyone else's input on personal experiences before i make the jump. Thanks! :)
  14. Hi There, I just purchased Affinity Photo - I have two iPad Pros . . . . I have it installed onto my first iPad Pro (12.9) OK but when I try to install it on my other iPad Pro (9.7) it asks me to buy it again (and only shows the buy button with $19.99 on it). I am signed into the same App store account on both iPads, other Apps that I buy install fine onto both iPads, it's just Affinity Photo I seem to be having this issue with . . . . Thanks
