  1. How do I change the default directory from C to D for Photoshop plugins
  2. I have Affinity and when I try to send it to a plugin it becomes all washed out or the colors are wildly weird.. is there a certain color setting to fix this, I have uninstalled and no change..it does it in Topaz.. nik and all others.. except smartphoto editor.
  3. Hello there, I am currently on the 10-day trial of Affinity Photo testing the waters. I've been a long-time Photoshop and GIMP user, however I have recently become disgruntled with Photoshop and am looking for a powerful alternative. Affinity looks great in a lot of ways, however I came across something quite alarming. Affinity doesn't support ICO? Even the free open source Gimp can edit an ico file, why can't affinity? Will that support be coming soon? Is there a plugin that allows for ico's to be edited? Thanks! Jesse
  4. Will alien skin plugins ever be compatible with affinity photo?
  5. Google has just announced that their Google Nik Collection composed of seven Photoshop plug-ins is now free for everyone. Click here for more details. You can download them from here. Currently Analog Efex Pro 2, Color Efex Pro 4, Silver Efex Pro 2 work with Affinity Photo. HDR Efex Pro 2 only works partially.
  6. I just downloaded the Affinity Photo trial and so far like what I see, but there is one little problem I encountered after installing the Nik plugins. I am still using the Google Nik version and have not upgraded to the DXO version (in case that may be a factor in the problem). All the plugins work well except for Viveza 2. When I go to that from Affinity Photo, there is a bad color shift in the image to the point that the plugin is not useful. Is there a way to correct that or is it because I am using the old Google Nik set and would have to upgrade to the DXO version, which I am not planning to do at this time. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. Jim Lawrence

    Nik software

I am running the old versions of my 27 ins iMac and have a colour cast when using them. The image just changes colour so they are us to use. is there away around this please. In vizvea the colours are way off... thanks
  8. I'm using AP 1.6.4.104, and have never had any problems with the software, but recently I've been getting occasional startup failures, where I receive the error message "could not load your settings - some settings may be incorrect". AP then loads in a minimised window, with the splash screen displayed (though I normally have it switched off). Both of these I can live with, but the most annoying effect is that all my plugins vanish from the Filters>Plugins menu, and have to be re-set. Has anyone else experienced this behaviour? I'm assuming there's an *.ini file somewhere that isn't being read correctly. Does anyone have a workaround for this so I don't have to remember and re-load all my plugins every time this happens? Many thanks
  9. I don't know if this should be here or in Feature Requests, so by all means move it to whichever is correct. In any case, I was wondering if there were any plans to add support for plugins in Affinity Designer (as has been done in Photo). If so, will you focus on existing Adobe Illustrator plugins or on plugins designed for Designer? I also have a question concerning the nature of plugin support (both as it is now and in the future), which is why I elected to post this under "Questions" rather than requests. Are there (or will there someday be) plugins designed for Affinity, or is the feature meant specifically for supporting Adobe's plugins? Is it possible to create plugins specifically for use in Affinity Photo?
  10. On 1 makes Photoshop compatible plug-ins. I am trying to use these with Affinity Photo. 1. Go to Preferences=>Photoshop Plugins and add Plugin Search Folders. ---since the dialog box specifically mentions "Folders" can we assume that this is in contradistinction to "Files"? 2. On 1's Plugin Folders reside in Mac=>Applications=>ON 1 Photo 10. --each of the Plugins resides in its own subfolder. 2a. Add ON 1 Photo 10 Folder to "Plugin Search Folders" Box in Affinity Photo. 2b. Enable Root "/" in Plugin Support folders (though Plug-in Support is contained in On 1 Photo 10 Folder 2c. Select "Authorize Global." 2d. Select "Close" 3. Restart Program. Failure: Under Filters=>Plugins, no files appear. 4. Go to Preferences=>Photoshop Plugins and add Plugin Search Folders. 5. Add path to "On 1 Photo 10" subfolders where each plugin resides (MacHD=>Users=>XX=>Applications=>On 1 Photo 10=>Plugin Files 5a. Select Authorize Global; then Close 6. Restart Program. Failure: Under Filters=>Plugins, no files appear. 7. Go to Preferences=>Photoshop Plugins=>Open Default Folder in Finder 8. Go to Default Folder 8a. Copy *.plugin files from On 1 Plugins Folder 8b. Global Authorize 8c. Restart Program. 9. Failure: Under Filters=>Plugins, no files appear. (Allow unknown plugins is checked). So what am I doing wrong? I understand that an automated installation won't work in the absence of Photoshop. But these are Photoshop-compatible. They might work with Affinity Photo if I could get them installed. The trip down the rabbit hole following all these steps was unsuccessful What will work to INSTALL these, so that Affinity can see them? Does Affinity work with *.plugin files or is it looking only for folders, or...who knows???
  11. Hey. My plugins (Nik) disappeared after updating to the later Affinity Photo. I'm on iMac. I've tried going into preferences - Photoshop Plugins but obverting I've tried doesn't work. I have no idea what I'm doing lol! Any help would be appreciated thanks :-)
  12. My Nik plugins are greyed out on some images but not on others. I recently scanned some old B&W negs to JPEG images and was trying to use my installed Nik plugins in Affinity Photo but they are greyed out. Other JPEG images I have in my folders work fine and all the Nik plugins are available for both B&W and Colour images. It seems that all my recent scans will not work with Nik plugins. I presume I've done something wrong but I've no idea what that is. The only thing I've noticed that seems new is that when I open those problematic B&W scans in Affinity Photo I get a window with a message saying 'Assigned Profile - Affinity Photo assigned your working profile, (Greyscale D50) to this unprofiled document' which disappears after a short while. I don't really know what this means or if it's significant in relation to the Nik Plugins issue. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  13. I downloaded the trial version of AP and installed plugins as per instructions on the video. There was no problems and the software worked well. I paid for the full version and when I follow the same instructions as before, here is what I get: Edit-Preferences : there is no preferences under edit, its under the Affinity Photo not Edit Affinity Photo-Preferences : software totally crashes and shuts down. I cannot get the software set up to do anything further and so for now have requested a refund.
  14. I have installed Nik plugins for the Mac version of Photo and my preview screen on opening any plugin has a horrible colour cast and desaturated image. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there a solution. Please note that the same install has worked fine in Lightroom and Photoshop. Thanks, Peter
  15. What is the latest status on 3rd party Photoshop compatible Plugins & Affinity Photo? Is there a list?
  16. I have successfully installed the NIK Collection of plugins into Affinity Photo. However, when I click on them I get a dialogue box saying "the plugin can only be applied to the active layer. If you would like to apply the plugin to a separate layer, please check to make sure your application supports the NIK Selective Tool and that you are not working in a limited functionality mode such as the Quick Fix mode of Photoshop Elements." (Substitute the name of the plugin with the word "plugin" above.) Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to get NIK Collection to work? Thanks. Chuck
  17. If like me, you are not that switched on when it comes to configuring Topaz plugins for use on a Mac look at this article in the Topaz forum: http://discuss.topazlabs.com/t/topaz-plugins-with-affinity-on-osx/3850/6?u=nick

    Problem with Preferences

Is anyone having problems with Preferences? Mine won't open, all it does is close the app Affinity Photo on a Mac! Would love to install my Plugins!
  19. Hi all, has anyone been able to add Topaz plugins to Photo?
  20. Hi, I’m the author of the Flaming Pear plug-ins. Recently, customers have asked for support for Affinity Photo. It appears the plug-ins don’t quite work correctly because Affinity often misreports the pixel format. In particular, - the FilterRecord’s filterCase field always contains the undefined value zero - four-plane RGB+A data is reported as just three planes. So plug-ins are unable to access the alpha channel, which, upon exit, is full of garbage values. I’ve attached a document summarizing how Photoshop and Affinity report the pixel data differently. If this could be fixed, it would likely repair the compatibility problem with many vendors' plug-ins. Affinity Photo alpha channel reporting bug.pdf -Lloyd Burchill
  21. I am new to Affinity Photo. I was pleased to see that it was possible to use Topaz plugins. However I cannot workout how to get Affinity to recognise where they are. I have followed the Help topic and looked on this forum but am not getting anywhere. I have Photoshop CS5 (which is where I looked for the plugins.) I am using a PC with Windows 10 I am aware that using these plugins is a work in progress. It is a bonus I was not expecting. I suspect I am missing something obvious in the instructions so help would be appreciated I have attached a screenshot of the position I have reached. I hope it helps
  22. Out of curiosity, I've dug out Version 3 of Knoll Light Factory, that was originally supplied with a Serif Photoplus bundle. Although it's installed, Affinity Photo doesn't recognise the plugin. Does anyone know if it's compatible with AP, and if so, how did you get it to work? (All my other plugins Like Nik Collection and Topaz Labs work fine) Thanks
  23. Would it be possible to install and use a plugin called Focus Magic64.
  24. What is the chance our existing plugins like NIK and Topaz can be accessed through Affinity?? Hate to leave those behind!!! Thanks TL
  25. With the extortion experts Adobe screwing users of Creative (Accounting) Cloud with its revised pricing 20 to 50 percent, never has there been a greater need for a competitive alternative. Affinity comes nearest but shows no enthusiasm for closing the gap. When will it address the problems around plugins on Mac, or support Photoshop Actions, or have a file organiser, or make headway into reducing its gigantic file sizes? Solve these and you could have the world beating a path to your doorstep.
